Never played Punch Out myself, but aren't there some, let's say, less that flattering caricatures of certain races in the game? Might be why there hasn't been an updated comprehensive collection of figures!

Nothing that jumps out as glaringly offensive outside of the arcades Vodka Drukenski, which was changed to Soda Popinski on home consoles. Some things obviously wouldn’t fly if released today, and those have been refined a bit in later sequels. Nintendo did changed a few things on the eShop version to be less problematic.

How old are you?

djblizzard 02-28-2021 05:41 PM

Easily my biggest wish for a toyline. Punch Out is my favorite game of all time and I hope one day we get figures.

Too old to cry about it and too young to be able to laugh it off ;)

Punch Out is a classic nostalgic game. Please stop trying to create problems where there are none.

Please stop assuming my intentions :)

One of the best games of all time. Brutally challenging while incredibly rewarding. And an absolute dream come true if we ever get figures.

No to Neca. Sorry. Storm Collectibles is the only way to go in my book. They’re the only company proven capable of getting the sculpt, articulation and personality of these characters.

AceSimulacrum 02-28-2021 11:12 PM

Enjoyed the game back then, just feel the fanbase would be pretty small considering how boxing's popularity has gone. I'd be interested for sure. I agree to the toy companies that could pull this off, just think if any one would try to attempt they should run it as a kickstarter. Personally I would love some figures of real boxing greats/legends in 1/10 to 1/12 scale but its a pipe dream I'm sensing, kind of like how Enterbay isnt making certain NBA figures or legends I want.

But loving this Figures Wanted Spotlight series. Thanks Joe.

Sign me up (errr, no pun intended, considering this is my first post here)!

I dabble with the WoN 4" figures, but I'd set a whole damned shelf aside for the likes of King Hippo and Glass Joe.

I think only a proper Castlevania line would trump that on my own wishlist.

there are clearly problems within the body of the main post. If you wanna bury your head in the sand, bully for you, but don't assume we all live in your same sandbox.

Yessssss!

This is a tough choice. I think I agree. Storm seems right and ready for it. SHF is my prefer but it's such a long shot. Hmmm....maybe Boss Fight Studios seems like a good match. The Bucky O'hare figures have that classic colorful feel. The Popeye stuff too. That beefy Bluto with the "squat form" would be very complimentary to the Punch-out art style.

I could see a kickstarter for this! Gaming/Toy cross promo for good sales equaling quality figures.

KING HIPPPPPPOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! On my top ten all time wanted figures. Imagine Tyson with that Bluto form. Perfection!

ghostbogey 03-01-2021 03:35 AM

New Punch-Out Fig/toy line, Would be sweet...
That would included Characters from"Super Punch Out" too.
However, it's got to be...
Licensed with "Mike Tyson's Punch-Out Character...
IMHO, Tyson made this game what it is.
Punch out arcade was ok. NES added Tyson...
That's when the game took off for me.
Now if you can give me all the Characters...
Including Tyson, Count me in on the line. No Tyson?
That would be a harder sell to me...

I don't think I'd call it "brutally challenging". Once you figure out the timing to beat everyone it's more of a process than anything. Still fun either way. And I have to admit, I'm still hit or miss catching Bald Bull when he does his charge.

This and NES Pro Wrestling are my biggest figure wants. And I second Storm Collectibles as well. They even made a Mike Tyson from that era already that looked great.

Wheeljack 03-01-2021 01:22 PM

Get on it nintendo!!!!!

I don't like the idea of Storm Collectibles doing a Punch-Out line because then they'd be out of scale with the rest of my Smash Bros. collection.

Seriously, how ridiculous would it look to have an 8 inch Little Mac next to a 4 inch Mario? For me that's like putting a 4 foot tall man next to one who's 8 feet tall.

It'll be more effective if we pester them on social media instead, since there are not Nintendo employees on this forum that I'm aware of.

I don't think they'd make him as an 8 inch figure tho. He's supposed to be much smaller than the average sized person anyway so possibly a 4-5 inch figure for him. I love the variation of sizes Storm has been doing already with the Street Fighter figures and the punch out fighters would be comparable to that i.e. Popinski/Super Machoman would be similar height and build-wise to their Sagat figure, Baldbull with Zangief, etc. Sota would've been a great choice for the property too, if they were still making figures.

Also, I'd love to see some kind of overhead star effect piece for them too. Could be done as an acetate piece on an articulated stand or even as something that plugs into their backs, like how they do with some figures for stands but inverted.

That seems like a specific problem for your collection lol, I don't want these characters for Smash, I want them for Punch Out.

Cheezah95 03-02-2021 08:16 AM

Nintendo rarely does anything that makes sense, but a new Punch-Out game with the Switch joy-cons seems like such a no-brainer??
And I've said it many times but World of Nintendo would shoot through the roof with more Smash Bros characters, esp underrepresented ones like Falcon, Little Mac, and Ness

Wait, Storm does fully articulated figures smaller than 7 inches?

Annoy the bejeezus out of them on social media? Check! hahahaha Whatever you do don't start a petition. This ain't the place. If I was Nintender I'd check Toyark. People actually say a lot of intelligent things here unlike a lot of other places.

I KNOW!! But lately World of Nintendo has been nothing but Mario merch. I love Mario but this is too much. -_-
