Yes, awesome!

The Flame Toys one looked too robotic for me, this one however is great. I would kind of like an Arkham Batman to go alongside with him, but I don’t enjoy the Revoltech approach to capes.

ddarko 05-26-2021 07:44 AM

Hmm, this looks much better than previous releases. However, the shoulder joint visibility will be a problem. I wish they had covered it up. As shown, it won't be easy to hide it when posing.

SuperWeird 05-26-2021 08:07 AM

The cape on their last Batman sucked so bad, I literally threw it in the trash and bought a wired cape off of eBay instead.

They need to hurry up and make a Superman. And his cape better not suck. I’ve been considering getting rid of my Wonder Woman because she’s so small and anime looking, and her hair is ridiculous; I’m only keep her in hopes that they release a Superman.

Thinking they will have some sliding hiding pieces to help a bit, but we know its usually not perfect.

Same reason why I didnt get the Wonder Woman or any of the other female characters. Think anime/capcom style. Size wise it is to be expected so I think you may be disappointed if they ever make a Superman.

Was the perfect character for them to do, would love to see the swapable features from changing between Arkham Knight and Red Hood (armor pieces removable or swappable) I mean their Cable had a convertible gun gimmick, as does Arkham Knight.
In an ideal world I'd love for light up feature especially for the Arkham Knight head to make it 100% accurate. If it has it, its instant buy for me. We will see when we get a more finished product, hopefully this is executed well and we see some more Batman or DC video game figures.

This does include a Red Hood head, check the picture on the bottom right. It also says there will be replacement parts to recreate Red Hood.

I know I read it, but am looking forward to see the painted/finished or one of those teaser videos they sometimes do on how they implement the change (they showed the head, if I remember from the game he also drops a few armor pieces, or maybe just the chestplate).

goliathfasa 05-26-2021 01:55 PM

Um.... I feel like I'm taking crazy pills...

Anyone else see that the torso-to-leg ratio is WAAAAY off?

The torso is too long and the legs are too short. Especially in that back shot, it looks like he's a "gangsta" and has his pants drooping half a foot down from his waist. Bloody 'ell.

No I see it too.

At least from the front I think it's due to the cut between the crotch and thighs being much longer than it needs to because of the baggy pants. The belt is also a bit low since it’s attached to the thighs for articulation purposes.

The back does look weird though, like you said. But it's Revoltech, it will look awesome once articulated like crazy, they are not really made for museum poses.

Uh guys... you won't believe this shit. No guns. Remember the Joker Mafex were the gun had to be removed? I guess it's the same stuff here, I heard its DC forcing this policy?

Screw this; I'm not buying an Arkham Knight / Red Hood without any guns! WTF?!

I've heard people claim this no toy gun policy, but there have been multiple reveals/reissues of characters with guns since that supposedly was revealed. From what I understand, they can't post marketing images of them with the guns, but can include them.

- The Hot Toys Knightmare Batman

- Infinity Studio Harley Quinn Bust

- Prime 1 Grim Knight Statue - Includes guns, but they can't market him holding the guns.

- McFarlane Grim Knight Batman

- JND Dark Knight Joker Statue

I just came from Reddit because I wanted to see what people over there were thinking and yeah - apparently it is only a thing of not being able to promote the figure coming with them via pictures, actually including them is fine.

There might be a list of accessories out there because Reddit was sure he comes with his twin pistols. No sniper rifle I think though. Guess they didn’t want to put too many resources into an accessory they cannot advertise.

Still - how stupid of a rule is this? You don’t need to tell me that guns are bad; I despise these things in real life, but as accessories for action figures? Dear lord.

Anyways, thanks for clearing up my mistake. I guess we can be happy we're getting random extra stabby things that he never used?

Grippen 05-27-2021 07:32 AM

Well I like it. Time to make use of the 3D printer. I printed a pair of guns for my 4'' Multiverse one along with a better head. Just need to scale it. Maybe I can find a rifle as well.

It's a really inconsistent rule. Not sure of who it applies to, or why.

Yeah that's the picture, I saw, apparently the bottom right text lists all the accessories but I can't translate it. I assume some people did and those claim he does come with guns.

So I guess we'll see the full list once retailers put him up for pre-order which should be fairly soon.

I tried to use a translate tool, but the text was too small to properly translate in the app.

I tried the same thing XD

I do know however that they list three "2x" weapon accessories, and one of them are the knifes, because knife = ナイフ.

If the other "2x" is the swords that would leave... 2x guns?

The rest of the list is fairly obvious, A/B Red Hood replacement parts and extra hands.

Zeorn 05-27-2021 10:13 AM

I can read Japanese, problem is I can't make out most of the kanji at that size. The katakana and kanji with only a few strokes is easy though.

I did try looking for a larger size image but had no luck there either. Not listed on Kaiyodo's website yet either.

But I'm 99% sure that the red section is listing all those body and armor parts, then at the end it lists 2 knives, 2 swords, and 1 display stand. Nothing about guns. They even mention the red katana and knife in the blue/purple? part on the bottom left but nothing about guns there either.

Arkham Knight / Red Hood without guns is like getting Wolverine without claws. What is the gun policy you guys are referring to? Is it some DC policy, or law in Japan?

DC apparently. No other Japanese toylines are affected, only figures portraying DC-characters.

IIRC, in a recent rare interview with Mez from Mezco Toyz back in maybe the beginning of May or so, he briefly talked about the weird DC "no guns" rule, and basically said things under a certain pricepoint can't have guns, while things above can (though obv it still often gets obscured in the marketing material for no good reason). Given how he talked about it and looking at which bits of merch have been "no guns"ed, it would seem the minimum price is somewhere over $100. That's why all those expensive statues and Hot Toys and whatnot you list are allowed to have guns, while ~6-inch figures from MAFEX, Mezco, Revoltech, etc. are not.

It is a bit interesting considering Japan is very anti-gun in that it is very hard to own a gun in Japan. It takes a lot of work to be approved and the police have to verify where you keep the gun and ammo which must be stored separately under lock and key. Police will inspect you once a year and a license expires every 3 years so you have to retake the exam. Oh, and handguns are outright banned. If a gunowner dies the relatives have to turn the gun over to the police as it is only registered to the deceased.

Here are the steps compared to the U.S.

United States:
1. Pass an instant background check that considers criminal convictions, domestic violence and immigration status. *Or skip this step, go to a gun show and the gun dealer who wants to make a sale will judge you based on their "impression."
2. Buy a gun.

Japan:
1. Take a firearm class and pass a written exam, which is held up to three times a year.
2. Get a doctor’s note saying you are mentally fit and do not have a history of drug abuse.
3. Apply for a permit to take firing training, which may take up to a month.
4. Describe in a police interview why you need a gun.
5. Pass a review of your criminal history, gun possession record, employment, involvement with organized crime groups, personal debt and relationships with friends, family and neighbors.
6. Apply for a gunpowder permit.
7. Take a one-day training class and pass a firing test.
8. Obtain a certificate from a gun dealer describing the gun you want.
9. If you want a gun for hunting, apply for a hunting license.
10. Buy a gun safe and an ammunition locker that meet safety regulations.
11. Allow the police to inspect your gun storage.
12. Pass an additional background review.
13. Buy a gun.

Generally speaking 10x more people die every day from guns in the U.S. than in an entire year in Japan.

Yet, some people are smart enough to realize just because you own a little plastic toy gun or play video games which use guns doesn't mean you need or want a gun to kill people.

This is a Japanese character from a comic (it's good) by the way.

I heard that DC draws the line arbitrarily at $200, $200+ and you can include guns, which is horse shit, because everyone buying Amazing Yamaguchi, SHF, Mafex, and McF (mostly) is 15+/adults and who’re they fu**ing kidding thinking including little plastic guns with a little plastic person has any bearing on gun violence. Horse shit.

Agreed! How stupid and inconsistent can it get. If they really mistakenly thought that having a toy 1/12 scale gun can draw a person into gun violence, then wouldn't including swords lead to sword violence too?

As you said, I am pretty sure the market share of kids buying Amazing Yamaguchi is likely super small. Not many kids would be spending close to ~$80 plus tax for one of these.
