Oh I Hope this means we're getting more KotOR characters. Malak, Bastila, HK-47, and so on. Just talking about Zaalbar though, I think it's reasonably safe to say that the face will come out looking better on final delivery but that vibro-sword is oversized. It looks big even for him so it's probably huge compared to a regular sized figure.

Edit: just did some quick looking around and saw that the super-sized sword is taken from his appearance in the Galaxy of Heroes game.

Hopefully this means more KOTOR figs.

Hopefully we get a male and female revan deluxe set with multiple heads for each and multiple saber colors.

This looks like he's just molded plastic, does he have any paint on him at all besides his face?

Out of all the characters from KOTOR you could have done... and you chose Zaalbar. Yeah, because that will put butts in seats.

It's not entirely surprising, the gaming greats subline has largely just been repaints with few (if any) new pieces per figure. Any of the more popular choices would require a bit more effort whereas Zaalbar is just a recolor of Chewie with a different bandolier and one new weapon.

Oh, you're not wrong. But I am reminded of Darkstalkers and the 'release port/stale bread' argument.

Namely, Capcom has a series that had many fans begging for new content, new games. In response to this, Capcom re-released a port that had already been released maybe a dozen times. Fans bought it, but not enough. Next time talk came of a new game, Capcom replied 'lookit these numbers, not enough interest.'

Which began the stale bread metaphor. If people say they're hungry, but then they get offered bread; this bread is stale and moldy. When the bread is denied, the person replies 'guess you weren't hungry.'

'Can we get Bastila? Malgus? HK? Nihlus? Mission?'
'You can have Zaalbar.'
'... no, thanks.'
'Guess you don't want KOTOR/TOR products.'

Technically we did get Nihilus last year as a 'Gaming Great' and it was ridiculously phoned-in, just Darth Maul with a different head, skirt-piece, and a cape. They took one of the tallest, sleekest sith and made it out of the shortest one they had, it's more like Maul is wearing a good Nihilus costume. I share your expressed concern though that picking a less beloved character early (like Zaalbar) can prematurely end a sub-theme.

Sword is too big plus it's going to be a missed opportunity for Hasbro to omit Mission Vao, you know, Zaalbar's trusted partner in the game?

To be fair, it was still pretty accurate to the 3.75 Nihilus. He wasn't that tall, either.

We shouldn't be using another inaccurate toy as a basis for what's supposed to be a more detail-oriented line, In KOTOR 2 Nihilus is at least a full head taller than the player character.

Why wouldn't you buy Zaalbar, though? If you were in any way interested in KOTOR toys? He's no Canderous Ordo or HK47, granted, but he was still a party member that you could recruit, and if he sells well, that should put us one step closer to his somewhat more popular partner-in-crime, Mission Vao.

It's accurate to his appearance in the "Galaxy of Heroes" game.

Same reason I don't drop $$$ on Duke for my Classifieds collection; I'm not going to pay extra for a character I don't want in a figure I'll never see at retail.

So I thought this was supposed to go up for preorder at 1pm EST today (over an hour ago) but it's still not listed.

edit: nevermind, it's up now. nearly 90 min after it was supposed to be listed.

Didn’t even bother to paint his iconic eye shadow, face proportions are off, Zaalbar is not a lighter coloured Chewie! Nihilus is not half Maul! What’s next? A blue Hera passing off as Mission? This sub line just oozes uninspired laziness. Star Wars has so many unique characters they deserve unique sculpts not these uncalled for recolours being passed of as different characters. I’m staying away from this line.

I don't care about Zaalbar, and SW Black figures don't get stocked on shelves here, and I don't care to pay scalper prices for a character that would be a completionist addition, at best.
