Hot Toys Mando Boba Clean Armor

Hot Toys The Mandalorian Boba Fett Repaint Armor and Throne

Man, this might be the one that gets me...

Comedian 07-14-2021 07:29 AM

Breath taking. Very difficult this will be to deny. Very difficult.

Meta 07-14-2021 08:05 AM

God Hot Toys you are hurting my wallet today. Man this will be hard to resist but the one thing I really notice is we will be getting a Fennec Shand figure too.

lordbest 07-14-2021 08:20 AM

I'm going to struggle to resist getting the pair of them

CameronFrye 07-14-2021 09:47 AM

I like how they were not at all subtle about dropping Fennec in there. Not a little hint of the side of her arm or anything, they just put her right there. I know with Hot Toys there’s never a guarantee of actually getting the figure until it’s announced (I’m looking at you Empire costume Han Solo and your tease in the old Cloud City Leia pics) but they seem to be churning out the Mandalorian figures with ease, so I remain hopeful.

CowboyXtm 07-14-2021 10:31 AM

Wow

Hot Toys is putting me in the poor house with all the awesome Mandalorian stuff the last few months. This set looks awesome. Instant buy.

SwampThing 07-14-2021 10:43 AM

... and Boba Fett’s Star Ship... LOL

dukefett 07-14-2021 11:00 AM

I'm definitely ordering but I hope they fix that armor. They just painted over the old weathered armor they had. It was all smooth in the show.

Yeah, Boba totally fixed his armor up once he got it back. It doesn't look weathered at all, and the paint was much better applied as well.

Not totally fixed, he still has the signature helmet dent and some other wear is visible on the body armor. Overall though yes it was much cleaner and smoother than what Hot Toys is showing here.

Raine24 07-14-2021 01:34 PM

That's way too extreme even for OT Fett. All the sets started off pristine, and aside from the major dents all of the wear and tear was accomplished though paint

snake5289 07-14-2021 01:42 PM

I hope they make VC figures of both. Hot Toys are way too rich for my blood.

Mogwai 07-14-2021 02:17 PM

Was anybody else bothered a little when both of the characters stood on the grate above the Rancor pit?

No, the trap door was only a small portion of floor between the throne and grating. That and Boba had been there before so he knew where to stand or not if Bib even bothered to get a replacement for the rancor.

I have to imagine TVC will get to them. Hasbro is really stretched thin with having to do basically every character in two scales I think.

Skoob 07-14-2021 03:53 PM

This is tempting. I don't have any other Fett 1:6 figures. The sculpt looks great. I wish Fett looked less bulky, but the character (and actor) is no kid at this stage, so a little padding might be expected. Wonder if we'll ever see him on-screen again.

Well he's getting his own show that airs this December (at the moment anyway) so yeah.

This is incorrect. On the show, they gave the repainted armor the appearance of having simply painted over the old weathered armor as well. if you look closely, particularly the helmet, it has texture except where the post-sarlacc armor had metal showing through.

I'd post links but as a new member I am unable to.

He is actually in really good shape, especially for his age, but a totally different body type from Jeremy Bulloch. One of the other actors who played Boba Fett in ESB also portrayed 4LOM, so the OT Boba body type is comparable to C-3PO. Anyone wearing all those layers who isn't svelte is gonna look bulky.

True, but on the Mandalorian the armor has texture after the Sarlacc acid corroded the paint. When he repainted it before The Believer, Boba simply painted over that rather than stripping it and giving it a smooth coat.

Except it wasn't. There IS visible texture on the repainted version. I can't post links here but try a high quality cap site to see.

You're right there is some wear on the armor and helmet, but it was not smooth in the last two episodes of the season.

ShabbyBlue 07-14-2021 06:10 PM

I hope they fast track the preorder/full reveal of Fennic Shand so that her release will come around the same time as this Fett/throne. She pretty much needs to go with this display as shown in the promo photos.

But again, as I always gripe about anytime a new Hot Toys Star Wars item is reveal..... when are we EVER going to get the preorders for the Bespin Han and AOTC Padme, among others, that were teased 2-3 years ago?! Sigh...

Well yeah, I saw the show, too. Guess I'd better watch my use of the word "totally" around you, eh? ;)

Please tell us more about how you were on Boba's spaceship and watched his armor restoration process.

You said there was no weathering and the paint was much better applied, I'm letting you know you're mistaken. And if it makes you feel better, rather than "Boba simply painted", change what I said to "the prop department made it LOOK LIKE Boba simply painted over".

I've been pouring over the scenes and every still I can of this costume for seven months, even been lucky enough to speak directly with the costume designer, and replicated the suit to the best of my ability. (That's actually me in my avatar with my old helmet.)
