Mortal Kombat Movie figures Coming From Storm

Storm Collectibles Announces Mortal Kombat Movie (2021) Figure Line

hasbroherofan 07-27-2021 07:03 PM

In it for Sub-Zero and Scorpion since they were the two coolest designs hands down. And their opening fight was probably the best part of the movie.

snake5289 07-27-2021 07:12 PM

I'll take a Sub-Zero for sure and probably Kabal too if they get to him.

ddarko 07-27-2021 07:47 PM

This is kind of great, but at the same time, they haven't finished the MK line. Most of that consisted of the different ninjas and cyborgs/robots. I am pretty sure that we will just get another Goro, Scorpion, and Sub to match the movie.

SuperWeird 07-27-2021 11:37 PM

This movie sucked. Easy pass.

Ventus 07-28-2021 12:32 AM

The Movie was awesome.
The Fatalitys were badass.
The Actors were choosen Perfect for their Roles.

Especially Liu Kang and Kung Lao.

I want a Liu Kang Figure so much!
Storm Collectibles Liu Kang and Dragon
are stuck in Limbo for Years now.

I have heavy doubt they will ever Release
a Liu Kang.

MK 2 Liu Kang, MK 3 Liu Kang,
MK 9-11 Liu Kang, MK Movie 2021 Liu Kang.
I would buy them all.

Grayskull 07-28-2021 04:31 AM

Only the first 7 to 9 minutes of this Movie were awesome, rest of the Movie sucks... I mean the Scorpion and Sub-Zero Origin. That was a little bit Mortal Kombat Feeling but then it starts with that annoying arcana... Find your arcana and you are a superhero... that was not Mortal Kombat!

@ Storm Collectibles
Just do Figures from MK 11. The Movie Licence is a waste of money /budget to create cool figures...

nerdyQWERTY 07-28-2021 06:04 AM

Nope

They should just finish the last line andstick with characters found in the MK trilogy. This movie was awful. I wont be buying any of these.

Bo Ttef 07-28-2021 09:58 AM

The movie was fine (yeah- the Arcana bit was odd- but how else do you really explain all the power moves unless you just drop them from all the EarthRealm fighters like the "classic" movie) I doubt I'll bother adding any movie versions to my MK shelf though- unless they match the look/style of the arcade figures and give us characters like Kabal, Kano, and Nitara. If it's just movie versions of Scorpion and SubZero- nah

goliathfasa 07-28-2021 12:03 PM

Cue that "it's all so tiresome" meme.

If they want to keep expanding their lines, they need to at least stay committed to putting out figures more regularly for their existing lines.

Although they've been doing great with Golden Axe and seems to be sticking to Street Fighter pretty well, so I guess they've somewhat earned the "right" to keep picking up new lines/sublines.

AceSimulacrum 07-28-2021 01:50 PM

Would be interesting to see if they can nail some actor likenesses. When you do movie figures there's that added challenge to nail it considering the higher asking price. Maybe its just retool of the Ninja molds?
Film was okay. The only thing good was the Sub Zero and Scorpion sub-story and few of the fight scenes, par for what you would want from a fighting video game movie.

Man, Goro doesn't get any respect in either movie. This four armed dragon guy was the ultimate quarter draining, pain-in-the-ass boss in '92 but both movies do him dirty. The '95 version did a decent job hyping him up as the long-running champion who is really proficient at throwing people down on the rock floor and entering fights with big wrestler energy but then he doesn't actually do anything. Even when he beats Johnny's pal he mostly just stands there and kind of flails his arms when he needs to punch. I know, technological limitations of the time and what not, that the suit was very limiting but to then just be like "okay Johnny punches him in the groin once and then he slips off a cliff and dies, the end" doesn't give off boss fight vibes. Then in 2021 he is no longer the champion-to-beat but is instead just another of the evil henchman, evidently Sub-Zero totally outranks this guy in Shang-Tsung's posse. They keep the part where he's still royalty among his people but that seems to be where his special qualities ends. At least now, with decent modern CG, Goro actually gets to move and fight in a more dynamic manner. Oh wait, never mind, he was just the bad guy needed to make the hero character earn his power-up and activate literal plot-armor so he could suddenly kill Goro with ease. At least he looks pretty good in both movies.

snake5289 07-28-2021 06:08 PM

I liked the new MK movie (even bought it on Blu-ray) but man I still hate Cole McNobody. And the fact he's the one to take out Goro with literal plot armor was straight up bullshit. I'm surprised they didn't have him steal the win from Scorpion at the end.

Dr Kain 07-28-2021 06:33 PM

Why bother? Not only was the movie utter dogshit, but there should have been figures for it when it was relevant and in theaters over months later when no one gives a damn anymore.

Also, if they're going to do Cole, they should do some Create a Characters from Armageddon since they had more value than he did.

Well he took a direct shot to the scrotum which is REALLY painful, and technically Goro was kicked off a cliff by Cage... and then lost his grip. This after doing a total boss fight move of crushing Cage’s $500 glasses. Holy crap I just corrected En Sabah Nerd now I’m kinda scared what kinda technicality you guys are gonna get me on lol

I hope we get a Goro from this line!

I really liked the movie save for the Arcana stuff. I would be down for a retail line but with the prices of storm collectibles. It is a hard sell.

Ventus 07-29-2021 10:20 PM

My biggest Problem is, that Storm Collectibles
is to Slow with their Figures.

They showed us the Movie Licence now,
and will Release the first Figure in....
2025??? At Best.

But wait, No No, they show the first
Prototype of...hm Scorpion in 2024
(Maybe at an Convention)
and the actual Release of the Figure
will be in 2027.
That sounds more realistic.

I watched their Prototype > Release Frame
multiple times. Yes they are that Slow.

Liu Kang and Dragon were showed maybe
3 Years ago? Dead in Limbo since then.

They not even dare to Release a single
Liu Kang or even MK 9 - 11 Figures.
That is what I call pathetic.

IzzyTipsy 07-30-2021 06:50 AM

At least this line too will remain unfinished and we'll probably just get the characters people would want - Scorpion and Sub Zero.

Nobody wants Original Character Do Not Steal I'm sure.

Kind of surprised McFarlane didn't grab up this license instead. It'll be interesting to see how Storm handles IRL faces.

I thought the same thing.

Too late to do figures for this movie. Are they going to do that character with literal plot armor first that's more likely going to peg warm hard?
