Those faces look very cartoony compared to the ML ones.

The outfits look a little cooler somehow. Still seem like they'll be a massive flop, though.

QuikMix 09-13-2021 08:43 AM

not particularly interested in anything Eternals related.

Anyone interested at all in this movie? Not a single person I know, including owners of comic book/collectibles stores, seem to be interested in it. Will be interesting to see if it’s the first true Marvel big screen failure or if it will pull a Guardians of the Galaxy and raise a niche marvel team to the forefront.

I know that me, personally, would rather see Howard the Duck get a full MCU movie rather than the Eternals. Oh well, just gotta be patient for Fantastic Four and X-men I guess.

AceSimulacrum 09-13-2021 11:10 AM

Yeah, although Kirby is classic, most would probably find Eternals boring. They should have just done a mini-series and put it on Disney+, unless the story and acting are excellently executed and perfectly balanced and paced (thats been a rarity in years) this isn't going to do well. Introducing and working a huge ensemble of characters in a film is very challenging and I'll leave it at that.

Figures, they're okay. Been saying it for awhile, Bandai seems to be cutting costs and quality particularly with the face sculpts. But I have this feeling anything MCU related, especially with the new phase 4, they've either decided or been asked to cut down the quality. The Stranger Things figures look better than these (face sculpt wise). The bodies and outfits look better than the MLs but still. Well my wallet will be happy at least.

Riddick 09-13-2021 12:35 PM

This looks like the most boring MCU movie ever. I hate the costumes. The skirts, look weird. This is Jack Kirby we're talking about and they managed to make the film colorless and boring looking. Not vibrant like Jack Kirby.

Shang Chi, Eternals.... one of the first times I'm not wanting anything of either from the MCU.

Harbinger 09-13-2021 12:59 PM

I dunno why marvel decided on eternals when a NOVA movie would been a much better choice. God knows he deserves a good kovie considered how they did him dirty in the comics the last couple years.

We know why. They specifically said. Making the most diverse cast movie possible. They took a team of totally 100% unknown characters and molded them to fit that. We also know why they made Shang Chi - to get that sweet Black Panther movie money but from the Asian market.

Unfortunately for Disney, they pissed off China and no Shang Chi there from what I read.

That said, the pandemic being around really makes it hard to see if the general public lost interest in the post Iron Man/Cap MCU or if people just aren't going to the movies due to the pandemic.

Gonna be hard to know until we see how Spider-Man does, I guess.

How are you saying they did Rich dirty?

RamenRider 09-13-2021 01:43 PM

They look like fancy pajama Power Rangers; I don't like these designs at all, no matter which company tackles them.

Last i read ( it may have been updated since then ) is they had brought rich back from the dead and not long after that they offed him…again…and sam kid nova. Just seems like a chump move by marvel to bring back the nova people loved only to off him again.

I was going to say exactly the same thing. The Power Rangers motif is off-putting -- reminds me of the "All Hands On Deck" scene in Shazam.

Looking at all the new trailers, I'm experiencing the same feeling that led me to stop collecting comic books. Call it 'MCU fatigue.' You reach a point where there are so many overlapping subplots and spin-offs and etc. that you just say F it. :mad2

I can clarify, they brought Rich back and did technically kill him again within like a couple of years BUT he was revived within the very same issue. Currently he's one of the leads in the latest GotG run.

Thatannoyingguy 09-13-2021 02:30 PM

SH Figuarts is really good with faces. I dare them to make a Christopher Reeve Superman. His likeness is usually really hard to nail down.

Ah good. Glad to hear that. Thanks en.

The effects pieces and alternate heads really liven these up.

If Hasbro had done that, the regular ML versions would have been much more appealing.

Yeah glad there's something with them to make them a bit more interesting.

0reser0 09-16-2021 08:22 AM

The trailer looked boring then we have these color-coded power ranger cosplay suits.

Cyclopswc 09-16-2021 09:11 AM

The guys look pretty good, but Sersi looks nothing like Gemma Chan.

Yeah, think they hit the Madden likeness better than ML, but think its more on the expression being right, looks more surprised in the ML. For the Nanjiani, better paint I think, but I dont like the expression they used on either versions cause I just see Dinesh (fan of his work overall, like the Big Sick). Big miss on Gemma Chan, I feel something is off, cheekbones and jawline, and maybe eyes. I feel this may probably be more of a paint execution issue, similar to that first SHF Wonder Woman figure where a few talented customizers add a bit of paint and fix it. Effects help alot but looks like Bandai SHF is skimping a bit too. Quite interested to see if they produce a Black Knight, Ajak, and Thena.

Out of interest, which page did you see this on? Not doubting you, just curious.
