The paint job seems lack luster. I think people who will customize this will make this really a nice piece. As is, its lacking.

TheMandalorian 02-25-2022 06:58 AM

Not Impressed

There is a serious lack of possibility for a deluxe figure.. Easy Pass.

Black Arbor 02-25-2022 08:09 AM

Oh wow, that Deluxe Spawn looks gre- WHERE'S THE BOTTOM HALF OF HIS CAPE!?!?!?!?

Tony_Bacala 02-25-2022 08:13 AM

Like that I think it's great for sitting, but I wish they didn't attach the cape part to the chair, and included the full cape part. THAT would be a great set, do it either way. Basically they'll be putting this one out with the full cape again, most likely with that cross we saw in the teaser pic.

OriginalFire 02-25-2022 08:50 AM

Overt kill doesn't look that great, but the others are awesome

BarbaraGordon 02-25-2022 08:51 AM

BBTS is showing price increases to $25 for single figures.

Designincase 02-25-2022 09:07 AM

Toyark - why don't you link directly to the figs listing?

So I'm not familiar with the Spawn comics, so I know none of these character except Spawn. So this is purely "I think it looks cool or not".

Also these product pictures look nice, like they pumped up the contrast. Everyone's popping out more.

Overt-kill

Definitely a big boy. I can see based on the original design why some might be disappointment. I think for it's price point, the articulation and paint job could be much better. It's $50 but you got NECA on doing figures just as large and detailed with better paint, articulation, and far more accessories for characters they license.......at $40 or less.

Raven Spawn
Rerelease with two different but familiar accessories. I don't know if they've modified the paint apps as he seems like the details pop more. Could just be photoshop and lighting.

I guess eventually the first release is going to be hard to come by online but not yet.
Really this comes back to Mcfarlane needs to release an accessory set with weapons and hands.

Haunt
Feel they could have pushed the upper sculpt more. He's definitely perfect fodder for customizers. Still not a bad sculpt and paint job. It's not just white.

I eyeroll at the "Ultra Articulation". Unless he's got some serious ab cruch......stop making fun of your own poor articulation.

Ninja Spawn
Okay he just looks cool and has plenty of swords. They definitely went to town on him in combo with a body we will likely be getting more of. This guy would be perfect for variant colors to army build as it were.

Throne Spawn

First off I think Mcfarlane needs to stop gluing the capes to the body. Let them peg in(or it on top when possible). I think doing a little less work would in this case be better for the consumer in the long run.

So I love that the cape isn't fixed to the body. I doubt we will get a non fixed cape version outside this set.

Now speaking of the cape. Okay they could have given us a full cape or an attachment to make a full cape. That looks ridiculous if he's not sitting in the thrown.

I guess the question is if that's a $20 throne?

Is the back of the thrown flat? They don't show pictures but there is definitely sculpt that goes around the back. If it's fully sculpted, it might be worth the price. Still could have thrown in some more accessories, but the throne itself looks pretty good.

Spawn himself seems to be sporting a brand new body. This isn't the MK body at least. Not sure if we've seen it anywhere else or if Ninja Spawn is also using it. It looks similar to MK Spawn but there are so many tweaks all over. This Spawn also has a diaper.

I think the torso has a bit more range as Todd had him leaning on that Throne.

Now what really get's me is this
Why is it that the Spawn line has no side eye?

Same on Amazon. I think this is the new norm. It'll take years for shipping prices to go back down if ever, and I doubt companies will reduce prices by that point. If it goes down, they'll just keep more profit since we are all used to it.

Yup, that is what I surmised, and the uncertainties just got worse with what's happening in the world this week.

Walmart is already charging $2 more for McFarlane megafigs and statues in stores, even though the prices are still $40 online.

Yup, easy pass because of that.

Damn shame as I've wanted a good Classic Spawn for years now.

nerdyQWERTY 02-25-2022 09:53 AM

These look awful. Id much rather have the old detailed statues back for $20 than whatever these are going for.

Jester 02-25-2022 09:59 AM

Oh man, Overtkill and Ninja Spawn are must-haves (and I dearly hope that the latter presages the rebirth of classic designs like Pilot Spawn and Medieval Spawn. :D

Like whom, exactly, not forgetting the shoddier quality of NECA's plastic?

Stop hitting yourself.

Prices appear to be stable here in Canada, of all places, at least for the moment.

I like it. He reminds me of the Pilot Spawn from the Sky Cycle(?) vehicle. :)

Minus Amazon I get taken to the broad search for the websites as opposed to the direct listing. Searches update with new stock but the listing url generally stays the same.

I know some figure have less then stellar build quality for NECA, but then I can apply that across the board. The majority of figures I have purchased from NECA(TMNT,Defenders,Gargoyals) I have never felt the plastic was shoddy.

Mcfarlane isn't exactly using the best plastic either and the point still stands that every other company at least included alt heads, hands, and other accessories at the same price point.

If you buy a NECA product at $40, do you ever go "Man that had no accessories and barely any paint for shading".

Articulation?
I can hit myself because I have articulation. Can Mcfarlane figures say the same?

Claiming to have Ultra Articulation when again everyone else offers more at the same price point is a problem. So what Hasbro and can co have Articulation 2, 3, 4, Blue, God, Ultra Instinct Articulation?

Ahh. Sometimes not all the retailers have the listings up, or only some, so I start off with the overview landing page for pre-orders or the company etc. I try to go back and add in direct links as they populate. Figured it's better to get the links out there sooner than wait for everyone.

It also takes a chunk of time to to it all individually, so if there are stories piling up I'll do that first and return to it later to refine.

Speaking of which...

And its utter bs like this that is putting me offa collecting. Just unnecessary gougin’ by corporate asspegs to jump prices up cause of their goddamn greed.

snake5289 02-25-2022 03:19 PM

Neat. Hope they do Tremor in the next wave.

Tony_Bacala 02-25-2022 03:50 PM

I think right now it's inflation. Later on if shipping goes down and factories are running at full speed, it'll be greed :).

En Sabah Nerd 02-25-2022 04:10 PM

The basic Spawn figures have been $25 since they brought the line back.

That appears to be true, though there've been other price increases (both The Batman motorcycles are $30 instead of $25 like previous Batcycles). Walmart is charging $42 for DC megafigs and statues if you buy them in stores.

Where to buy in Canada?

Anyone know of a retailer in Canada that will sell this wave? Wave 2 wasn’t on Amazon
