Weapons

There seemed to be a lack of accessories. What's up with these companies not including any guns? The Winter Soldier needs his weapon. Captain America doesn't have a good Chris Evans likeness but still neat. Winter Soldier needs his guns if not then what's the point in purchasing these. Tired of multiple companies not including guns.

If you're unhappy with how a company is handling a line then stop supporting them (or seek an alternate route to get them). This isn't hard yet every action figure forum can't seem to grasp this simple concept.

cjflan32 01-23-2023 07:45 AM

From a figure standpoint I just got Stealth Batman, Harley and Cyborg Superman and was thoroughly unimpressed with all three so I might be taking my own advice soon enough. Since this isn't DC we don't know for sure if the situation with Winter Soldier is anti-2A nonsense, could just be straight up laziness on Medicom's end.

You have to do more than just vote with your wallet, you have to be vocal about the issues that exist with the product. The executives behind these figure companies will find any excuse to blame for lack of sales, by vocalizing what issues people have with the figures, they’re sending a clear message about what needs to change.

flying2high 01-23-2023 08:17 AM

I have stopped multiple lines due to the lack of accessories that in the movies or comics they represent. It does seem like a trend from multiple companies and lines. I just purchased S.H.Figuarts Bucky from the The Falcon and the Winter Solider series only on sale because I wasn't paying full price for the lack of his weapons (huge fan of the character). Still have not purchased the Falcon and he always has 2 weapons. It just seems these characters are naked without. I know multiple companies are producing armaments for these kinds of needs and variety but just a shame not to include some of their signature weapons and may be just what you expressed from either laziness or anti-2A nonsense. Seems like Hasbro Marvel is suffering from the same exclusions which years past they would have included.

dukefett 01-23-2023 08:28 AM

Now Marvel is following DC's footsteps with the no guns thing, holy shit they kill people in every movie. So dumb to make these changes for high priced import figures.

Buying aftermarket or extra guns only goes so far if they stop including gun holding hands. Who knows if these will have them.

I'll try to keep this in the sphere of toy collecting:

It's been made crystal f****** clear to Hasbro, McFarlane, and the companies that grant them and other manufacturers like Medicom licenses what the problems are. They. Don't. Care.

A slightly psychotic fictional character once said "It's not about money, it's about sending a message." Think about it.

I have to see more of this from Marvel to believe they're going the DC route of guns. Right now, it's entirely possible Medicom was just too lazy to make the type of custom weapons WS is supposed to come with. It's not like you can take stuff from John Wick and Terminator with this guy.

The figure is $105 at BBTS. It's unacceptable for a premium figure to not have the proper accessories, whatever they may be.

Thatannoyingguy 01-23-2023 09:45 AM

Looks like my wallet is safe from Mafex in the first half of 2024. The most interesting Mafex figures are the ones that are supposedly coming out this year. Nightwing, Steel, Scarlet Spider, Thor and some X-Men characters.

Tokyomeltdown 01-23-2023 10:05 AM

No firearms for Winter Soldier? Why? That's like selling Captain America without his shield.

Dotanuki 01-23-2023 11:20 AM

I hope S.H.Figuarts will make a Winter Soldier with guns, but i don't get my hopes up. Japanese Toy Companies can't put guns in their action figure boxes as accessories because of some stupid gun law that newly passed on Japanese parliament as far as i know. :/

VashTS 01-23-2023 12:11 PM

Not buying before, but just terrible.

Nothing wrong with guns, but now much like cigars, cannot have it in toy form, and so on.

Stupid...these guys at the top are buttholes. Imagine Winter Soldier having to guns.

It's the slippery slope. No guns, then knives, then swords and soon after, no fists.

ronriii 01-23-2023 01:07 PM

Still getting Bucky because I was planning to display him with the knife and shield combo anyway. That said, it's nuts how badly these mandates have affected import figures so badly. I'm just glad I have enough spare guns for my figures.

If you've seen the Mafex line, nothing about it is lazy. They hardly reuse stuff between releases. If they were able to make his guns they absolutely would have.

SenseiYoda 01-23-2023 04:13 PM

No biceps twist? Simple elbow joint? Protruding Figma style joint? The face does not resemble the character.
The worst figure in years of the line.

And yet, for some reason, the Hush Poison Ivy doesn't have bare feet (cue that one piece of Jim Lee are where she isn't).

And of course they never reused a Spider-Man body.

And that FFH Spidey, as well as Battle Damaged Mark 85 and X-Factor Cyclops totally weren't cash grabs.

And the new Robocops definitely did not need updated helmeted headsculpts.

And those two Wolverine figures they made definitely weren't terrible.

But yeah, I've never seen the MAFEX line before.

I said what I said because Hasbro has released multiple ML figures with guns this year. And if that rule appilied to Marvel then I don't know why it wouldn't apply to Star Wars and Indiana Jones. And if it applied only to realistic guns then that's quite a rabbit hole to go down.

Very sad that mafex is jumping on the no guns bamdwagon. And sub par articulation makes me sad. I was thinking of getting winter soldier but now i likely wont.

This isn't Mafex, this is the wokies infesting Marvel and Disney. The Mafex T-800 due out two months before these is absolutely festooned with guns.

ghostbogey 01-24-2023 03:20 AM

Mafex should have...
done a "Two Pack...
for these ;^)

I tend to think that it's pretty clear that DC and Marvel are driving this policy and not Medicom or Figuarts - paticularly because (at least in the case of Medicom) lines like The Boys / Robocop and especially The Terminator are loaded up with weapons.

Yeah, they do their fair share of alt costumes so obviously Spideys and Robocops are going to reuse parts. But there was nothing terrible about the brown suit Wolvie, he’s great. Or Cyborg Superman either for that matter.

tbh you just sound like some kind of weird freak with a chip on your shoulder. Whine whine whine, the last thing this place needs are more fragile old farts crying about their precious guns.

I have no real beef with Mafex, I think they're filling some cool niches and they put in the effort, but there's no damn reason an $80 figure aimed at adults should have missing accessories
It was dumb on Figuarts Deadpool, and it's dumb here

Completely agree. The weapons banning is making me collect less. Yes I know there are options but having to pay for more and third party at times is annoying especially when it had been a bit of a norm or standard. Originally just hoping that SHF would do a press release for their Winter Soldier they showed years ago but looks like SHF is also doing some cost cutting themselves. Dont want to deal with MAFEX quality gamble. They've gotten better but still been unlucky.
