McFarlane Collector Editions Incoming

McFarlane Collector Edition Figures Announced

Low run items to finish teams?

Higher quality versions with more paint apps?

Deep roster characters not suitable for mass retail?

Entire ERA specific versions? (Death of Supes, Artist specific desgins, Retro, etc)

Or, just another label to bump up cost?

User897 04-06-2023 08:11 AM

Sorry, but I won't believe any of it until I see proof. We are in a time of being let down by multiple toy companies almost on a daily basis, so we'll see if Todd is just blowing smoke again.

StudioOneTwelve 04-06-2023 08:15 AM

Have to imagine this could be an articulated line of figures from various properties the way they do various licenses with Movie Maniacs but this time they can actually move

ghostbogey 04-06-2023 08:31 AM

More WH40K McF!!!!...

"please" ;^)

Zigerlion 04-06-2023 08:58 AM

I saw a leak of Cyborg Superman on toynewsi and it looked really good. Even bigger than the reg 8 inch figs. Unless that's a mega fig, I think this new line may be legit.

Comedian 04-06-2023 11:30 AM

I hope they are obtainable. The platinum and gold labeled figures are tough-almost impossible for many collectors to find.

And worthy.

warmachine6 04-06-2023 01:03 PM

It would be great if this means you can get a full team, i.e the animated teen titans.

it'll be intrested in what they mean by collector edition, like for who moc or loose collectors, McFarlane haven't wow'd be as of yet, apart from 2 figures.

I think at the end of the day it will be just another label to bump up cost

ThorOdinson123 04-06-2023 02:19 PM

From what I read on the mcfarlane toys reddit leaks page. The Collector Edition figures will be

Quote:

DC Collector (Name might change, original text not in English.)

New series, a bit more high end than normal DCM, cost 29.99.

Will be announced at SDCC.

Have random (painted) variant, limited in stock and each one will have a unique tracking number like limited statue.

For now will be focusing on the first appearance of those characters.

The first 3 are:

Abyss (first appearance)

Superman (first appearance)

Green Lantern (first appearance)
https://www.reddit.com/r/McFarlaneFi...ky_megathread/

Atomsmasher 04-06-2023 02:57 PM

Green lantern? Take my money.

Raine24 04-06-2023 05:05 PM

That April 1st Cyborg Superman did have a ton of paint. If real, then I welcome higher-end figures at a higher price point, but we're also going to need an accessory bump, too. A whole $10 more is pushing into NECA territory, so let's see some extra hands and goodies to fill them with!

This would also be a better price point for stuff with the pricier likeness rights, like the Burton/Schumacher Batman villains or Reeve Superman/Hackman Lex.

Hasbro 04-06-2023 05:16 PM

This is just gonna be more Batman figures right?

What he said. :D

mangkanorxxv 04-06-2023 08:43 PM

Price bump or more scalper fodder.

omniriven 04-07-2023 12:49 AM

I don't know man, I hope they do 3 things:

1. Smaller scale, half an inch (they need to go with Marvel Legends)
2. Drop the adult diapers, especially on women
3. Pump out more women and fix the elbows / curves on them
4. Drop the rubbery plastic on parts that need to be solid like the torso/butt/chest etc. In my pinion, only loose hanging plastic should be rubber as a general rule
5. I can't count

User897 04-07-2023 04:25 PM

Universal Toy Lingo Translator:

Collector Edition = Charge a premium for not-so-premium product.

T0ySick 04-09-2023 11:34 AM

1. Smaller scale, half an inch (they need to go with Marvel Legends)

NEVER gonna Happen. Mcfarlane leads..doesn't follow.

2. Drop the adult diapers, especially on women.

EVERY company uses a crotch piece on the figures that resembles some sort of panty/thong/diaper..

3. Pump out more women and fix the elbows / curves on them

He will if the ones he makes sell. If they don't, he wont.

4. Drop the rubbery plastic on parts that need to be solid like the torso/butt/chest etc. In my pinion, only loose hanging plastic should be rubber as a generalwon't.

More and more companies are adapting these softer parts.
Not gonna change.

5. I can't count

@Toysick,

Wow on the first one bold statement. Anyway I'm not sold on it, I do have a box full of McFarlanes, mostly because they are cheap and DC is dead on other toy companies.

2. I disagree, McFarlane Diapers are horribly visible and made of soft plastic making them warp. I cannot think of any toy that does it even close to how horrible McFarlane does diapers. Hasbro > no problems, Jazwares is decent too. ... holy hell there are very little companies around nowadays. Mattel does it okay

I'm not against soft parts, the position is what annoyes me on McFarlane toys. I'm probably in a minority but I would like toys to be at least a bit like toys. Not posable statues. I'm just not into the chest, butt and even in some cases limbs being completely soft plastic with a skeleton underneath.

I’m largely ambivalent about McFar’s stuff, but this comment compelled me to respond. Beyond whether your sentiment is even demonstrably true, or not, this form of brand allegiance doesn’t seem to serve collectors. I think you remarked a while back, while criticizing Legends fans about their tendency to defend abuses by the manufacturer, that the toy industry is to be viewed in a similar light to the console wars (or maybe it was the other guy that often follows your comments) necessitating that fans choose a side. In any event, I’d admonish that creating personal attachments to retail manufacturers is folly at best and delusional in the worst case scenario.

Carrying water for McFar’s panties/ankles/wrists makes about as much sense as defending Hasbro’s anything.

I’m not sure that’s how that response works, but I expected something like that from you. S’all gud.

Why did you quit art, by the way?

I don't think, if you're an artist, you can really quit art.

ghostbogey 04-11-2023 02:10 AM

I "have to" say.....

"McF is Cool"...

And there it is..
I said it ;^)

Wow, you just surprised me with a thoughtful answer, one with which I agree.

There seemed to be a story there; I still think there is one, but this is a start.

I thought, at one point, I saw you post a digital illustration of a Sectuars character, which was promptly edited/removed.

Maybe I’m wrong, maybe it wasn’t you. Maybe it was someone else.

Anyway…keep doing art; creatives create.
