PureArts at Toy Fair 2023

Love the classic DC heroes statues. Looks like Supes is based on a John Byrne image and Batman...maybe Brian Bolland but in classic 70s/80s colors.

"Supe"...
Look'n Smooth ;^) |
The statue of Superman is pretty good, but I dislike the cape. It's a pet peeve of mine: there seems to be a school of thought among sculptors that a cape MUST do something dramatic. I prefer the Eaglemoss approach, which is to depict characters with fabric costume elements hanging naturally: no waving in the breeze, no random geometric shapes, no unnecessary animation. :thumbs

Well in this case, the sculptor was just following the 2d artwork that the statue seems to be based on.
Also, capes, hair, etc are a great way of implying movement on what would otherwise be a static piece. Especially if the character is just standing there, firmly planted on the ground. Having said all that, yeah this could've been toned down some if they weren't going for something specific https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-BsJbFdZJM.../s1600/smb.jpg |
