Not hating, just curious: can someone explain the glut of anthropomorphic animal figures recently? Is there a big crossover of furries and figure fans that I just never noticed before?

I don't think that's a new trend. One may argue that's been popular since TMNT - 1/2 human 1/2 animals of all kinds. Although I do get what you're saying, there's certainly been waves and waves of new lines of animal/human hybrids figures lately.

My guess would be that anthropomorphic creatures are almost always going to be more toyetic than just a regular human type. And works well enough as it's own thing without any kind of cartoon,comic tie-in. So I would guess its an easier sell for a smaller company. Plus probably easier to fudge into other lines as well.

Yeah, not so much the idea of anthro characters, that's nothing new, but the recent surge of them that had me wondering. Even the "monster" parts that were tacked onto the Street Humans figures were pretty much animal parts.

It does make sense as a way to add on "instant characterization" without worrying about world-building or having someone buy into your line's mythology, you just go "hey, buff lion dude with a sword" and if that tickles someone's fancy then the job of selling it is 90% done!
