Collecting as a Parent?
Hey so I officially became a father two months ago. I was wondering if anyone here is a parent and how they handle their toy collections with their kids?
|
Congratulations! Boy or girl?
My boys are trained from the beginning that "if it's on a shelve, it's daddy's. If it's in a box, then that's yours." Of course, my boys grew up getting my surplus of toys. I already told them after I die, they're free to keep whatever they want, then sell the rest. |

The easiest way for me was to put things out of reach, and to put the more valuable/unreplacable things in storage or in rooms that you can lock or block to keep them out of while until they get out of the toddler stage. Cause at that point they start climbing and that opens up more problems.
You kind of have to figure out what works best for where you live. When my kids were toddlers I lived in a house where the office was double doors that were easily pushed open. Each door had a knob on it so I got one of those plastic locks for cabinets that was a sliding piece on a loop and used that to keep those doors "locked" and away from things that they didn't need to be messing with. |
