Transformers Primus in Rodimus colors
Here's the father of all Transformers, Primus! I decided to give him a Rodimus Prime inspired paint job like the G1 Marvel Comics, which is an idea I like for many reasons. Of note is a special request by the one and only Tom Servo, a Unicron claw mark on planet mode! I tried something new with the glowing planet areas, which was starting with yellow, then doing paint wipes with neon red to get the edges, and then drybrushing silver to get all the buildings.

So much paint...so many details... I wanted to focus on a few things, like the glowing power spots we always see in planet mode, and I tore big chunks out of two corners to look like bent metal and added exposed wiring. I wanted the robot mode to look clean and regal, while the planet mode looked like the traditional Cybertron we always see in various media. I used a dremel to add some damage, including the famous Unicron hand-swipe added in the 1986 movie! I used various enamels and acrylics, and lots of them!. The entire planet mode was drybrushed with 3 different silvers by hand and has some rust, lights, damage, anything I could think of at the time. All the gold is clear yellow hand painted over silver. I actually took a couple with the flash on to demonstrate how metallic he is in robot mode. I really enjoyed the project, thanks for your time! |
I have to find an applause smiley, because this definitely deserves it. Might be one of your best yet man.
That really looks sweet! Definitely kudos. That's utterly badass.
that is really cool!
I think this is an odd twist to the figure, but i like it.
I really like the planet mode, but was never a fan of the "Rodimus looks like Primus" from the old comics
the paint jobs beautiful! I must say the plant mode is excellent I don't get the rodimus colors for primus but to each is own but a fantastic job! this is one of my personal favorite figures that I have on display in my collection.
If they made this I would buy it in a second!
Damn, dude. You did a hell of a job on that thing. Looks great!
WOW. Well done. I would have used very little red for the bot mode to keep with the vector sigma glowey yellow look, but I have no talent haha. Once again, fantastic work.
The claw mark is fantastic! I can see Hasbro/Takara taking your idea and running with it (of course, the paint job wouldn't be any where near as good) ;)
Arise.. Rodimus Primus....
That's very creative but also amazing!
Wow absolutely freaking amazing. I am a huge fan of the Marvel Comics Primus and his resemblance to Rodimus Prime fit well with him being the Prime to light the darkest hour and defeat Unicron. Love the colour scheme and the fact that you made details stand out on the figure that I hadn't even noticed before. Congratulations on a job well done. Now if only I could paint that well.
Wicked cool.
looks nice :D and it works ;) good job
i don't like robot mode colors but i love the planet mode ones.... fantastic really realistic
That is gorgeous! Nicely done :)
I like it I wish that my repaints came out that good.
Wow, the detail on this is just ridiculous. Very nice work!
Is this a Rock Lord? :P
So ummm....... your selling me this right? I am not JOKING. We should talk
I absolutely love that you gave him the Unicron claw marks! The detailing is awesome, and the planet mode is gorgeous. Plus I'm a sucker for any Marvel-inspired paint jobs. :D
Absolutely outstanding! Great use of color, and I love how you used the clear yellow over silver, probably gives a neat kind of depth to the color in person! I love using colored clears over metallics, you can get some really wicked effects!

Cool.
