Mugenbine ... ninja girls? Enter Moebain.

It looks like the Bandai's Mugenbine line is branching out to cover both the "combining random pieces into uber robots" fan base AND the "anime ninja girl" fanbase. Called "Moebain", this line looks to have a similar setup to the Mugenbine giftset releases with boxed sets of figures and accessories that can combine to form what is admittedly a very cool looking robot.

What do people think about this new direction Bandai is going? I'm not against girl figurines in the slightest, though it's a bit of an odd combination.

Well, seems like someone is trying to get in on the "Busou Shinki" share of the market.

QuinJester 01-06-2009 08:45 AM

Hah, that's just what I said on the news post, too. Yeah. Diversification of appeal; robots and girly figures in one fell swoop. Looking at the figures, it looks like just their accessory robots combine, so it seems that you'll be able to have both a robot AND the girl-ninjas, so it really does look to go for a "best of both worlds" approach.

I'm not feeling the accessory/armor look that the animal robots give each girl, but the combined robot is very cool. I'm a sucker for white and purple too.

I'm not the type of guy to go crazy about girl figures but throw combining robot shit in the mix and I'm pretty much sold

QuinJester 01-06-2009 10:24 AM

Yes, I think that's probably the general intent with this. Those who want girly figs get what they want, those who just want cool looking combiner robots get what they want, and Bandai gets what IT wants, which is everyone's money.

The cost is higher than I expected, but I may get around to buying these as well seeing how I love the recent Mugenbine releases.

These look great, love the colors.

And the animal motif is almost Kaku-rangerish. Crane, wolf, frog, ape. Only thing missing is bear.

Well spoken, sir!

Well, as a busou shinki fan, I'm interested in clones too. :D
I'm intending to get these, I just wish they were the same scale as the Shinki figs.

On a side note, I guess that answers my questions about where Shinkis would get categorised in toy news
