It's awesome and even better(i think) than the revoltech buzz! How much does this cost?

Joe Moore 11-03-2010 05:33 AM

Everyone's jumping on the Pixar bandwagon. Crazy.

ludovicotek 11-03-2010 06:19 AM

This is awesome. Looks just as good as the Revoltech for sure.

You have to be soulless to not love Pixar.

Never said I didn't love them (own every blu-ray they've released, and DVD's for everything else). But there's only so many Buzz Lightyear's a market can sustain.

trebleshot 11-03-2010 06:59 AM

I love Pixar and own all of their films and shorts on DVD, but I'm with Joe. It's not often I say this, but I think there's just too much Buzz.

I think it was when I saw the Buzz Lightyear Mr. Potato Head toy at Target. Of course, I bought it (how meta can you get?), but there's way too much Buzz product out there now. Even the Target exclusive Toy Story 3 SE Set comes with an electronic Buzz toy who can hold the discs.

...the sad part is, after having said that, I'm still considering buying that version of TS3.

agreed. and this soc doesn't look like it features an actual sliding bubble shield. big loss imo.

Joe Moore 11-03-2010 07:51 AM

Also, a "Soul of Chogokin" Buzz Lightyear? Really?

Sorry Joe, didn't mean to imply that YOU didn't love Pixar. I just meant to say Pixar is ultra-popular with just about every human being alive on the planet. Companies are obviously going to want to capitalize on that. Honestly, they'd be missing a huge opportunity if they didn't. While I do agree that the market is over-saturated with Buzz product I have to admit that I'm happy to see so much product based on a license I really enjoy. A crap-load of Buzz toys is far better than no Buzz toys at all. Buy what you like, leave what you don't.

Kind of bad ass though...a good many Buzz figures aren't fully articulated, and this one is and diecast with a display stand. Don't know if I'll buy it but I think the premise of it is cool.

TheSymbiote 11-03-2010 11:29 AM

this looks so much better than revoltech buzz

MonkeyMike1986 11-06-2010 11:53 PM

I was REALLY interested when I first saw the SOC Buzz Lightyear....until I stumbled upon this page when looking for more information:http: Chogokin Buzz Lightyear
and discovered that the figure will only be 16CM TALL (6.5'')!!!! That blows, better off with the toy story collection buzz.

Evantainment 11-09-2010 11:45 PM

I haven't seen a Buzz figure that I don't like, but there are certainly some that are better than others. I'd put this one near the top.

That's actually the same size as some of the Mazingers and Super Robots in the SOC line though.

MonkeyMike1986 11-13-2010 12:13 AM

My point is that its just TOO small, especially at the $170 price range BBTS is hawking him at. If he was a full 12" 1:6 scale figure, I would contemplate having him as my ONE buzz because of all the upgrades he has over the TSC figure.

$170? Wow..have to check the yen price for this again...SOC's that size are usually $100+ less.

Evantainment 11-13-2010 12:00 PM

Yeah, that sounds a tad expensive...but if I had a little more disposable income, I might pay that for it, but since I don't, I won't worry about it...for now.

That's because it's not a SOC. I have yet to see that brand name associated with this toy. But who knows.

Thankfully it isn't.

Right, but it isn't.

That may be, but it isn't an SOC.

This is NOT an SOC figure, any more than the recent die cast Drossel is an SOC, or the diecast Mickey Mouse is an SOC, or the Hatsune Miku figure is an SOC, or even an SDX figure or GFF Metal Composite is an SOC. This is a standalone, licensed diecast figure that is made by Bandai and is not associated with the "soul of chogokin" line.

It may seem expensive, but granted EVERYTHING is expensive coming out of japan, these days (6" plastic figures are starting to hit around the $60 mark for stuff not made in the 20,000+ production quantities), so one should hardly be surprised at it. Considering that the average revoltech is starting to run in the $40 range when they used to be widely available for half that is a good indication of the kind of price inflation we're facing nowadays, and licensing from Disney (you'd better BELIEVE they're taking a hell of a cut) is no cheap matter, either.

Shin Densetsu 11-15-2010 10:03 PM

Thing with Revoltechs though, is that most of the ones from this year are bigger than previous releases. For example, compare the Sengoku Basara and Sci Fi series figures to stuff like the 1st Yamaguchi releases.

As far as Buzz not being SOC, I stand corrected.
