CM's Star GaoGaiGar - second coming

11 Attachment(s)
CM's Star GaoGaiGar 2.0 looks to be shipping out and available now. While it's nice that they've improved it, I just don't think it's worth upgrading from my original, especially considering it looks like they haven't changed the mane or shoulder connections for liner gao at all. I WOULD love to have Goldymarg though ... argh. Getting the original SGGG add-on set would probably cost as much as getting a V2.0 SGGG complete at this point, too.

Anyone thinking of picking this up? for those who love the design and haven't got a GGG figure yet, It should be a pretty easy call (other than that painful CM's pricetag, of course), but for those of us who adopted early... I dunno. Thoughts?

The official site with a lot more pictures is here:

NotoriousBIC 01-19-2009 02:25 PM

Missed the original release, so I may pick this one up. Any good places to get it (international)?

QuinJester 01-19-2009 03:10 PM

Angolz.com has the HK limited paint edition in-stock right now and they should be getting the regular version soon; they also have what looks to be the lowest price.

HK limited paint edition

Japanese release edition

They seem to have the wrong product pictured (it's the smaller PVC edition in the photos of the HK edition), but the price, weight, product information all point to it referring to the Brave Gokin version.

Sol Fury 01-19-2009 03:44 PM

Awesomeness. This is pretty much the definitive masterpiece edition for Gaogaigar. If you want to own a version of the big guy and price is not an issue, this is the one to own.

QuinJester 01-19-2009 03:58 PM

Most definitely. I wish I could get the GoldyMarg on its own... but argh. If this ever (Esp. the HK edition) does show up on sale like the last few Brave Gokins of CM's have done, I may very well pick it up. I got my V1 GGG used so it's missing some parts and I would LOVE to have Goldymarg... I just don't love the idea of paying $300 for a fig I already have a perfectly nice looking version of...

Ahh! They did it! They DID add a locking mechanism for Liner Gao/the shoulders in Gattai mode!

Aw shoot. More improvements to Liner gao that I didn't realize... no more parts removal
in its transformation;

On the original, you had to remove a central piece to slide parts inward to free the joints. Now, much more sensibly, the arms just pop out.

And it looks like from this pic and the accompanying text, that the mane has at least a partial locking joint now ...

The posed pics really make it look a lot more stable :(

I really want to get this :(

Damn it all.

rizuan76 01-25-2009 05:31 AM

Ah it's a pass for me too bro. I was also thinking of getting this one since my first CMS GGG is already broken-up. but after you posted that knee-joint repair tutorial I've already repaired that knee joint (of coz with generous morale support & help from Jason Jupiter, thanks Jason!!) & so for now my GGG has finally "walked" again ha ha. :p

QuinJester 01-25-2009 12:20 PM

Awesome, glad to hear you got it up and "running" again.

I really do want this rendition, even though I already have a GGG, but I'd love to hear an english language account of whether it's really more stable than it used to be, pictures nonwithstanding. I may end up being the only person I know interested in doing such a thing, though :p

Vangelus 01-26-2009 11:13 PM

I am desperately figuring out how to work one in to my current situation. >.< Especially since the only CM's I have are Genesic and GaoFighGar. They're waiting for the original!

BraveMax 02-06-2009 09:05 AM

So this includes Goldymarg, Gaogaigar (With V2 GaoMachines?), the parts for Star GaoGaiGar, and all the little bits-and-pieces for his attacks, etc...?

I don't own any of these, but I'm a HUGE GGG fan... So this may be "win" for me.

Is there anywhere stateside where it can be bought? Or is Angolz the cheapest even with shipping from HK?

What's the difference b/w HK version and Japanese version?

trebleshot 02-06-2009 10:58 AM

If I could afford it, I would buy it in a heartbeat. I don't own any GGG toys and I would love to get this one and set him next to my TF MP's. Sort of an extended family reunion photo op.

Yup, your overview pretty much covered all the included parts.

Nowhere local seems to be offering it, sadly, and even if they did, I doubt they'd be able to beat Angolz's pricing.

As for the difference between the HK and Japan releases, the Japanese version will be standard Black, Red, white, and chrome as shown in the photos. The HK limited edition will have metallic flake plastic and all of the chrome parts will be painted a rich bronze color.

takua 02-06-2009 01:59 PM

Whats the color difference between the normal one and the hong kong one

QuinJester 02-06-2009 03:01 PM

I... I just ... I mean...

Okay, fine. Hang on.

The HK version has a bronze-ish looking paint as opposed to the plating. The black plastic is metallic flake as well.

Draven 02-06-2009 03:45 PM

That DOES look really nice. However I'll pass. I have the original CMs GGG release, as well as the limited "Golden God Of Destruction" edition Star GGG, so they'll do.

BraveMax 02-06-2009 07:41 PM

Thanks Quin!

Japan version FTW. I've learned my lesson re: chrome... No matter how pretty the shiny, don't buy it!

QuinJester 02-06-2009 08:34 PM

It's the Hong Kong version that doesn't have chrome and has the metallic paint finish. The Japanese version is plain plastic and chrome...

BraveMax 02-07-2009 11:32 AM

OH - metallic flake plastic is the sparkly plastic, then?

Hm... Which version to go with, then... Wish there were some comparison pics >_<

QuantumShock 02-07-2009 04:56 PM

I don't mind chrome and things, it is just beautiful, even though I only have a glimpse of the GGG series in youtube.
