Toy Clearance at WalMart

Was just in WalMart last night and noticed they had a whole toy clearance aisle. The aisle was located towards the back, by the garden section, and not by the regular toy aisle. Star Wars Jabba for $19. DCUC GL 5-pack for $25 and IM2 figures for $3, just to name a few of the deals. There was a bunch of stuff. Not all good, but definitely some good deals.

Hopefully you guys will luck out and find some stuff you need.

DrewBlank 12-30-2010 11:29 AM

Hooray! I could go for $3 Iron Man and $19 Jabba about now (and if they would drop last year's Dewback under $40 I would appreciate that, because I'm really tired of looking at them).

jimster2010 12-30-2010 12:41 PM

Looks like I'll be stopping by my local Wal - Mart.

Autobot_Goldbug 12-31-2010 02:00 AM

They always put the clearance aisle near the garden section.

It really depends on your local Walmart what to do with clearances.
Mine did have the Jabba Hutt for $19, other people told me theirs were still full price.
IM2 figures remain $5 here.
G.I. Joe Mechs were $9.50
Rise of Cobra small vehicles were $8

Crazy Jetty 12-31-2010 10:01 AM

My local walmarts all have a really nasty thing where they don't actually mark anything down at all. They stick items in the clearance section, with red clearance tags on them, and still selling them for full price. Just trying to make people *think* they're getting a clearance on them without actually giving them any mark down at all.

Yeah mine does the same thing. Then after weeks of you keeping an eye on stuff hoping it will go down it suddenly disappears. Don't know if they marked it down finally and it was scooped up, or someone finally took the "clearance deal" for real, or if they just remove the product. But a red clearance sticker does NOT mean a thing if you don't drop the price Wallyworld.

Yeah mine has been doing that too for a while.

Saw the G.I. Joe ROC Pit at my walmart on clearance for $114 I think it was. The funniest part is that underneath the clearance price I think it said the original price was $148. That must be like a joke somebody did or something. LOL.

Yep. It's a really crappy thing to do, too, because it's really just preying on peoples' ignorance. Another thing I've seen is exactly the opposite: Items on clearance that aren't marked as being on clearance in any way...that's how I got my half-price Turbo-Tank last year (Though I paid on-sale retail price for the AT-AT this year...which may have been a good call as it doesn't look like anyone's clearancing that beast out just yet).

Anyway, Still hoping they'll mark down that TIE Bomber, but they only seem to have one left and it hasn't popped up as less than the original $38.97 on the price-checker yet.

My Walmart is hoping people don't realize it was the normal price but it's got a red sticker.

I got my Pit (nearly complete, I might add) for about 10 bucks at Dirt Cheap a year ago.

I bought my son a PITT for $20 at K-Mart last spring. I was getting my car worked on and forgot I was on foot. I had to walk two blocks with the stupid thing, back to the car.

I did some hunting last night and hit 3 Walmarts in a row with NONE, ZERO, ZILTCH Marvel Universe or Joes on the shelves! Is this some post-christmas lull that I don't understand?

Yes. For a few months after christmas, *all* stores push toys to a very very low priority. Especially walmart.
Usually things don't start picking up until summer blockbuster movie toylines start rolling out in the spring.
In my area, TRU is just as bad, if not worse than Walmart. Which is horrible because they're the only TRU within a decent drive of anyone, compiled with the fact that all they do are toys.

Ludovicotek if the Jabba and GL set are still there would you be willing to pick it up for me? Or anybody else that has these at the 19 dollars for the Jabba and 25 or 30 dollars for the GL set It would be greatly appreciated.

Apparently Walmart has moved everything or boxed it up to redo their aisles.
It makes little sense to me to remove product from shelves when they should be selling it. They do this every year at this time.

No more left here.

I worked for Walmart for four years. It's the most irritating thing they do to the customers.
It's a policy to change up the shelves at least four times a year. Sometimes, it serves a genuine purpose, such as moving in a brand new big toyline. But more often than not, they literally want you to not know where anything is. That way you will always be searching for what it is you want, and buy things you don't want.
It's easily the most assy thing they do. And it's the number one complaint I always got from customers is that they can never find anything, because it's always moving.

I personally hate Walmart,.. my girlfriend does 10x more then me though. For the most part I go there its the same 2-3 Mrs Marvel figures which I already have both of. or hulk or black panther which I have. Then I won't go for a couple weeks/month or 2 and show up to find 1-2 new figures which makes me think they got a new wave in or 2 and then just bailed... Thankfully I found a local retailer called OWL's Hollow who is 10x what walmart is in terms of customer service and going the extra mile.. Spoke with the owner last week he has 4 sets of SDCC Thor, Cap, and spiderman .. along with that he stacks the shelves with marvel universe, gi joes, star wars, and other great lines like street fighter, bio shock, gears of war, green hornet movie figures, etc... He charges more the walmart but I'd rather pay a little extra locally then to pay it in shipping/exchange rates online. He is the type to order me a case in, let me pick what I want then sell the rest/duplicates... he pays round 8-9/figure sells then for 12.99 but gives me 10% off and bulk pricing etc.. can't wait to get my hands on the SDCC stuff hoping he can find me a galactus or 2..

That's cool man... definitely the way to go for MU since they are so hard to find at retail anyway. I think my local LCS charges $12, $15 & $18 per MU depending on how popular they are. He will probably jack up the price for any variants he happens to get though.

And I don't think my Walmart even carries MU singles anymore. LOL.

jimster2010 01-17-2011 07:13 AM

None of the Wal - Marts in my area have any of that stuff on clearance

trebleshot 01-17-2011 09:01 PM

Last time I looked at Walmarts in my area, they were either doing the red tag, not-clearance trick, or clearancing toys that should have been on clearance and gone several months ago.
