Green Lantern Movie Toys

I posted about this on the tank, but thought people would appreciate it here as well.
Green Lantern Hal Jordan Figure And Packaging Revealed!

Here are the first few pics of the new Green Lantern 4 inch line. Here's Hal:

It looks like the avatar leg articulation, and it is supposedly in the 4 inch (not 3 3/4 inch) scale! I'm pumped. Hopefully there's a comic wave like what Hasbro does for the Marvel movie figures, too.

I wanted to credit Riddick on Marvelousnews.com for letting me know these pics were out there.

Jordan seems a *little* better than the Infinite Heroes. Tomar Re looks like he's a lot cooler than the ackward pose he's in.

This may have potential. But I need/want to see them first hand.
Either way, I'm such a GL slut that I'll probably collect them no matter what.

benzo 12-31-2010 06:49 PM

looks pretty cool!

Better?! HAHAHA! Jordan has no wrist, elbow, knee, or ankle articulation!
Of course it could be just on this figure but who knows with Mattel's track record!
Tomar Re is supposedly the 6 inch figure.

miraclefan 12-31-2010 10:25 PM

WOW! That's just disappointing.

jimster2010 12-31-2010 11:33 PM

Those just suck

stanmarsh917 01-01-2011 07:12 AM

It looks kinda good,Hal's packaging looks good, the figure looks good, but Tomar is "meh",Hal just like doesn't have knee, ankle, elbow, and wrist articulation just like @Autobot_Goldbug said.Is the 3 3 4 inch figure line the one with the light-up figure,or is the Hal figure just a prototype?I mean when i got the toy "menu"(thats what i call it)of ROTF,i saw that Optimus was supposed to have individual finger articulation but no,he got the gun holding hands, but its still an ok TF fig. But toys will be toys, Mattel should do a better job in their 6 inch line.

ludovicotek 01-01-2011 02:24 PM

Incredibly excessive packaging for an action figure. :(

Neither did Powergirl, and a whole bunch of other IH when their prototypes were originally shown.
The sculpting is what I'm commenting on.

Yes sculpting looks nice yet is worthless to me without the action in the figure.
Power Girl prototype had more articulation than the final figure!

Are we sure that this is just the 4 inch prototype? The 6 inch Tomar Re seems to have all his articulation ready.

Aheld92 01-01-2011 08:04 PM

Tomar Re is a 6" figure and Hal is a preview figure so I'm still holding out hope that The 3 3/4" GL figures will be better than DCIH

I'm not gonna sit here and have you critisize me for liking something you don't. It's jerks like you why I don't hang out on message boards. Sheesh.
I've got every right to like how it looks. Deal with it and get out of my face.

blastMONKEY 01-01-2011 09:21 PM

Looking at the hips on Hal, it looks like they'll move similar to the DCUC hips. I think because the t-crotch is so, wide that it's a little off putting. The sculpt itslef isn't too shabby and the inclusion of a removable ring in the base is total win.

As for Tomar, from what we've seen it looks pretty spot on. The textures are great and he feels rightly alien. I think it's a good sign that the'yre trying increase the quality of the Movie Master products.

Morzilla 01-01-2011 09:50 PM

.....I was watching the trailer for the GL movie before TRON began and my GF asked me if I wanted to see it, as a complete geek I said I may have to. Now looking at the figure I may have to....take a hankie with me ( :'[ Not seriously diggin' the GL suit at all, dam!!

Now the figure, It looks to me that this might just be a limited ed. (pic) Hence there might be more of Hal figures coming out with the articulation where it "should" go, but then again I might be fooling my self. If this is the new norm for figures ( 4" and/or 3 3/4" ) the I guess my collecting Marvel & DC figures might be coming to an end, which sux for me.

I do hope for something along the lines of IM2 figures, but not the F***ING madness of Exclusives to one particular store cuz that S**T is bananas. I don't need to remind you of how insane the search and acquisition for WM was.

So if MATTEL reads/lurks through this site, listen up!!! QUIT THE B*** S**T and put out some awesome stuff, we're your bread and water!!!!

Whaaa??! Where did I criticize you for liking it?
I don't blame you for liking it. It is a nice statue.

The figures look as gimmicky as the movie that accompanies them. Mattel needs to just give up on 3 3/4th scale, they really don't excel at this size range and it's getting disappointing.

DCUC is such a great line, I can't believe they can't capture any of that greatness in their smaller figure lines.

superbat 01-03-2011 02:00 PM

jorden could be better but Tomar Re just plain out sucks

firmpulse 01-03-2011 02:24 PM

terrible. just terrible.

You're right. You weren't critizing me. You were mocking me. Laughing at me:

...because I like something you don't, you mocked me, which is actually worse than critisizing, but I chose that wording to be polite.
Which is a concept beyond you, apparently. A simple "Better? IMO, not better at all" would have been far more civil and conductive of an intellegent conversation.

trebleshot 01-04-2011 09:05 AM

Alright, enough. Agree to disagree and move on.

As for the GL toys, I'm not impressed. I said this on Twitter, but I'll say it here as well: Mattel is the toy company equivalent of an 80's cartoon character: learns a lesson by the end of an episode but forgets it by the beginning of the next one.

Hopefully, the movie will still be good.

jimster2010 01-04-2011 09:19 AM

DC UNIVERSE CLASSICS. MATTEL has posted a photo of the movie masterpiece Hal Jordan on facebook and it looks way better than the preview figure.

nomad1632 01-04-2011 11:44 AM

figures look like shit but what do you expect its mattel lol

TheLoudMaster 01-04-2011 11:33 PM

And I just managed to replace my DCUC Hal and get the TRU Rebirth version last week, and now this news hits. Green lantern fever?

Anywho, the figures look awkward. Just like the Avatar toys. But I'll have some optimism, and hope that the regular releases look and function better.
