Action Figure Stands
(Mods, please move this if there's a better forum)
Okay, back during Cyber Monday, Mattycollector.com screwed me out of buying their DCUC stands. I've gotten sick of waiting for them to come back in stock, and started looking around for third party stands. My question is this... does *ANYONE* make stands for anything larger than a star wars or MU toy?!? Seriously, I can't find anyone selling stands compatable with DCUC or Marvel Legends. Does anyone around here have the same problem, or knows someplace that has sells a stand for a toy larger than the old playmates Star Trek TNG figures? |
Right forum. :)
Unfortunately, I have no idea about where to find stands for 6" figures. |
You can try over seas. Tamashii stage act 3 through 5, or di:stage. Good luck finding some in stock. HLJ has a them. I have a tutorial on how to make some cheap ones out of a metal clothing hanger. Click on the link below

Thanks, xcaliber.
I just don't understand *why* it's so hard to find stands for something other than GI Joe or Star Wars. Beyond uber frustraiting. |

Spawn.com used to sell bags of them, if you go on ebay you'll find sellers who will buy multiple figure and open them and sell the pieces loose ie the bases, other then that sometimes you'll find walmart, tru, target etc that will have figures on clearance for 3-4$ and may come with a decent base, depending on how many you need this could be ok, if you need a lot, go online, there's a few websites that sell bases but their for 3 3/4'' scale not 6''.

This thread got me thinking about stands, and I was thinking about cutting and sanding some dowel rods and drilling holes in one of my shelves. Basically I want a shelve with pegs attached.
Has anyone tried using wooden pegs to hold their figures? Does it scuff up the peg hole? |
it can. your better off finding wooden dowels slightly smaller then the peg hols in the feet as to a perfect tight fit, your better off buying metal rods, most hardware/building centres sell them for couple bucks for a 2-3' long piece, and they can easily be cut to size using a hacksaw, or jigsaw/bandsaw with metal blade. they will look better, less likely hood of the peg breaking off inside then having to try and extract it, which can happen! also if you add a piece of tape onto the drill bit just above the depth u want to drill it will help prevent drilling through your shelf all together. all u need is 2 half inch chunks per figure half that is in the shelf and the other is exposed.

Thank you. The idea of it breaking off in the peg hole is enough for me to back off the idea of wooden pegs. I think I'm going to the fastener store on Monday to see if I can find some rounded off metal pins. Cutting and shaping 80+ pieces of metal is not the way I want to spend my weekend.

The Spawn stands are pretty good for 6 inch figures, though DCUC seems inconsistent with peg hole size. Some don't hold tight, and some don't fit.
