Nick Fury on Ebay!

Rare Marvel Universe Nick Fury Mail Away Figure In Hand - eBay (item 350207452904 end time Jun-27-09 09:24:26 PDT)

sparkhunter 05-28-2009 12:21 PM

not anymore, I bought the last 2

joebiscruml 05-28-2009 12:35 PM

I like the way this is done. Instead of speading $60 to $80 on repaint I don't want, like the Doc figure for GI Joe, I just subscribe to Marvel's digital comics $24.99 and get to read comic I haven't seen in a while. Win/win for me.

trebleshot 05-28-2009 01:01 PM

I wonder if this will be the only method for getting Nick. I don't know if I want to put forth the effort, really.

I'm thinking I might have preferred paying $30 to HTS to get him and call it a day.

Kluster Bombs 05-28-2009 01:31 PM

I guess we will have to wait until monday (6-01-09) for further details. The website www.marvel.com/nickfury is not live yet. Hasbro said we would get details on the 1st of next month.

ludovicotek 05-28-2009 01:41 PM

I'm happy I kept all my trash for nothing.

Ditto, so how is this a mail away figure if it's en exclusive promo for the digital comics?

decepticon_mark 05-28-2009 04:40 PM

So this is what we've waited for? I has nothing to do with the Universe figures what so ever. If they were going to do this they should've have either offered a different figure for the comics or not offered the "mail away" offer as part of the Universe line period. I'm not a big Fury fan but I really love adding to my "universe" with new characters and the mail away figure offers give me good memories from days past as a kid when Star Wars offered them right and left. You sent in your proofs and then waited what seemed like forever to get such figures as Boba Fett and Nien Numb. Sorry Hasbro but this reaks if this is the only way to get Fury. I guess a Ebaying I will go.

Ballsdeep212 05-28-2009 06:03 PM

I havent been able to find wave 4 anywhere in stores yet , Just the preorder on hasbro toy shop !
But I do like this Fury fig. I would do it ! Think it would cool , Like mentiond b4 get a cool fig. and catch up on some reading !

scarecrow 05-28-2009 07:22 PM

Fury looks damn good, and while I feel everyone's pain, this is a neat marketing plan. I might actually shell out the money to read online. I've been thinking about giving it a try anyway.

ZeoVGM 05-28-2009 08:16 PM

Guys, remember, if they were going to do some "collect UPCs" thing, it would end up being 5 or something. This costs less.

True. But we all already have a pile of UPCs and most of us were planning on getting at least some of the comic packs already.

SE JN 05-28-2009 08:26 PM

I don't like it. I wanted a free figure after I've paid a ton for Hulk, Bullseye, Cap, Iron Man and a bunch of others.

I concur, plus the nostalgia, or even use of the codes on the site. Or anything completely intricate to being the super secret soldier for his secret war to get him type marketing. He better come with a code that unlocks some good stuff then!

What does marvel really offer in their online package?
I know they have some old mini's but what about newer titles like nova or X-force? There better at least be some old and newer Nick Fury minis since we're getting him.

Well speaking from experience with past Hasbro mail-aways (G.I. Joe & Star Wars) it would have said something on the packaging to begin with. ;)

Oh and sparkhunter just overpaid a lot! :D
They are apparently available in Singapore's TRU for the price of a single figure...
Marvel Universe 3.75" - Fury Files & Showdown Figures - SGCollect.com Forums
I'm not really happy with this promotion either.

Snowflakian 05-29-2009 02:36 AM

Well if that's the case, I might just get the SG one if I can get him round cost.

Seller has a bunch more up again. It's tempting, but honestly, if I'm gonna shell out $30 US on something like this, I might as well enjoy some digital comics anyway. Especially since I'm not a Nick Fury nut hugger.

I'm sort of glad they didn't do the mailaway thing, cause I sort of forgot to keep any UPC codes or packaging. :p

Note the $15 shipping. Glad I'm not a completest on this line.

I doubt they would even use UPC codes. :p

sparkhunter 05-29-2009 06:01 PM

I look at it this way, I could care less for the digital comics, I'm getting 2 with shipping for the price of about 1 year digital comic subscription.

Marvel Digital Comics Unlimited: Home | Iron Man, Spider-Man, Hulk, X-Men, Wolverine and more Marvel Comics Online

It's a pretty wide selection too, I may check it out. Many of these are titles I wanted to read anyway.

Metal Chaos 05-30-2009 04:39 AM

meh i say, im skipping him in hopes of an Ultimate Nick Fury.

Yeah, that's what also deterred me. I believe I can live without Nick Fury. :) He does look pretty good, with lots of weapons. Wish we had a closeup pick.
