San Diego Comic-Con He-Ro Variants

This is from MattyCollector.com:

MOTU Fans!

As most MOTU fans know, He-Ro is our special San Diego Comic-Con 2009 MOTU figure. You've waited patiently, and now I can finally share some of the details!

This version of He-Ro will be available at SDCC, then at MattyCollector.com after the show. Both the SDCC version and the MattyCollector.com version will have three different Spell Stone variants, randomly packed. But like all spell stones, they're well hidden. The stones come packed in a closed Spell Staff so the only way to know which version you have is to open the package, then open the staff to see the color.

Spell of Protection......Green Spell Stone
Spell of Defense......Red Spell Stone
Spell of Healing......Purple Spell Stone

There's one more thing... if you get He-Ro at the show, he'll also have a special SDCC variant with the SDCC logo on his chest under the armor (you'll need to take him out of the package and remove the armor to see the logo)! The logo version will be sold only at SDCC.

If you can't get to the SDCC, don't worry, because we've got you covered. You can still get He-Ro without the SDCC logo here on MattyCollector.com after the show on Monday, August 3rd at 12:00 NOON ET, so be sure to mark your calendar!

Pretty cool stuff. Could you imagine trying to track down of the variants? I think I'd cry. lol.

For Real! For Real!

As a MOSC/MISB collector, I have no way of knowing what variant I have, so I'll only buy one SDCC version & one MattyCollector version.

Glad that you couldn't see the variant unless you open the package. Saves me money. Ill just get one top keep MOC from SDCC then one from Matty to open. Got the prototype He-ro anyways, better than all the gem variants combined

I would have actually bought all 3 variants if they were able to be recognized.

You're right, this way saves me $ also.

Prototypes are cool!

Same here. I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of loose He-Ros without the staff on E-bay soon. Im pretty sure the staffs will end up costing as much as one figure each.

I just realized something. How are we supposed to tell the difference between the SDCC He-Ro & the Matty.com He-Ro? The only way to know is to remove the armor.

Da_Last_2_Walk 07-28-2009 04:24 PM

I know a seller that says he sent some of the SDCC He-Ros to AFA, so now I don't have to worry about getting the wrong version!

Kuzeh 07-28-2009 04:56 PM

Thy should've at least added a sticker to the blister...

I just received the Wonder Twins in the mail that I bought off ebay. The auction was for the Wonder Twins WITH GLEEK and the seller didn't send Gleek. I'm so friggin pissed off right now.

And it took awhile for the package to arrive, the seller wouldn't provide tracking, etc. So I bet he just ordered it off Mattycollector and once it arrived he just mailed it to me!!

And I also bought a He-Ro SDCC exclusive off this seller. And there's no fucking way to tell if it's the SDCC version or the mattycollector version without opening the figure. Now I'm wondering if he just ordered this from mattycollector too? So friggin stupid they couldn't make the packages slightly different .

This is from a seller with 670 positive feedbacks. 100% positive.

I emailed him and I hope he makes this right but I'm fuming right now.

I forgot to tell everybody that there's a way to tell which stone you have. You have to go in a dark room and shine a flashlight on the stone inside the staff. There's a small crack that will reveal the color of the stone.

I still haven't heard how to tell the difference between the SDCC & Matty versions of He-Ro that are MISB.

Luckily, I collect AFA Uncirculated MOTU Classics, and AFA has denoted the difference between the SDCC & Matty versions. AFA has also denoted the color of the stones.

Damn.....now I have to get 4 more AFA Uncirculated He-Ros!
