Aawww man.... I miss KB Toys...

Jer 06-19-2009 11:49 AM

I wish they would release the older, giant T-Rex figures.

There is a large T-Rex scheduled for release in this line.

RageTreb 06-19-2009 06:12 PM

I will definitely be picking up all of these. When are they scheduled to be released?

Chosen 06-19-2009 06:22 PM

There's benn some indication that they will be released in August.

jptoys.com also has four images of larger electronic figures, but not THE big T-Rex yet.

Runamuck 06-19-2009 07:51 PM

This is totally out of left field. I don't know why TRU is doing this. Repaints of a movie that came out years ago? I don't get it.

Chosen 06-19-2009 10:10 PM

Part of it, I imagine, has to do with maintaining a hold on the license, and they're doing so in the least expensive manner possible. The series also wasn't a total bust when it was being sold mainly at KB Toys, which isn't bad for a recycled toyline. And if I had to guess, it might also be some weak attempt to compete against the Xtractaurs line from Mattel.

RageTreb 06-20-2009 08:34 AM

As much as I love Jurassic Park, NOTHING can compete with Xtractaurs, from what I've seen. And I'm just talking about the design of the toys, not even that weird DNA BS they tacked on.

This is kind of weird to release at this point in time. I was really into the toys from the first film. I had all the big dinos, the vehicles and even the command compound playset. I wish I would have gotten the mobile command center from the second movie's toy line.

Some of TRU's Animal Planet toys are cool. They have that dope Spinosaraus playset that comes with a net trap tower that would be perfect for some Dreadnoks to take over. But as far as these go I don't know, I just don't really see these JP toys really being a success right now.

C.I.A.D. 06-25-2009 08:21 AM

Dinosaurs sell. Period. Parents will be drawn to the JP logo, kids will be drawn to the flesh eating goodness inside!

Here's to hoping that maybe, just maybe, we get another Compound Playset. I'd LOVE to pick one up!

Chosen 06-25-2009 04:59 PM

...we're absolutely not getting one of those. Zero percent chance, no, a negative percent chance. :p

I don't expect the JP toys to be good competition, mind you. But the Dino Growlers will get some money out of me.

I'm also eagerly awaiting checking out Xtractaurs in person, for the figures mostly, but the addition of the game doesn't hurt, and that syringe gimmick amuses me.
