Worst Marvel Universe figure

I've seen a few threads on favorite MU figures and waves but what are your least favorite Marvel Universe figures thus far? Or most disappointing?
How about worst paint apps?

My vote for worst figure goes to the Mary Jane figure. Terrible clothes, silly dog, bad choice of character.

Second for me would be that Weapon X Wolverine, every figure that i've seen had terrible paint apps and probably the worst paint sculpt.

Any others that you thought were horrible or were personally looking forward to and then disappointed with?

AndyCR75 05-16-2011 06:35 PM

good topic...

I love him as a character, but they could have done sooo much better with Iron Fist. I mean, he is bad @ss. But proportionately speaking..what did he weigh about 112lbs? Hopefully in the upcoming 2-pack he's more on point.

Tarquinius 05-16-2011 06:38 PM

Funny thing is that that MJ figure was a fans choice. I was recently digging through my MU collection and I came across and her. I questioned her existence but she seems to be rare and not peg warming so I'm glad I have her at the very least.

I don't know if I truly hate any of the figures they've produced. I kinda strongly dislike the figures they put out that utilize a common mold and don't do anything with it.

Doc Samson, Gladiator, Captain Marvel.

Great choices for a figure but they didn't do anything ground breaking with them. No cool accessories. They litterally made a figure to have a figure out there for that character.

I have them, I enjoy them....I'm disapointed that Hasbro slacked on them though

LOL, my daughter would disagree with you on this one, she loves that figure.

omega145 05-16-2011 06:40 PM

I agree, the new 2 pack with powerman looks promising. I like the custom Iron Fist I got off eBay:

omega145 05-16-2011 06:42 PM

I agree with you on these: Doc Samson, Gladiator, Captain Marvel.
Good to have in the collection but nothing great about them. Im still looking for a cheap loose Captain Marvel.

Glad your daughter loves MJ James, :)

I actually had thought about making this thread before and you mentioning your daughter liking that figure reminded me to make this thread, haha.

Tarquinius 05-16-2011 06:48 PM

I think Gladiator and Capt. Marvel have great paint apps though!!! And the molds are solid its just like...

BLAH! Give me a power blast accessory or something!!!!

MasterSock 05-16-2011 07:03 PM

Jean grey I hate her head sculpture along with her shoulders...and why is she always looking up!

Colder Soldier 05-16-2011 07:39 PM

Blade and Luke Cage.

They have totally botched the brothas in this line. Blade is so out of scale showing off his gimongous hideously-sculpted head. And they didn't even try making his gloved arms look like they were covered by his trench coat. We best get a better Blade in the future! A new-sculpt, 1st app Blade w/brown leather jacket, stake bandolier, green BDU pants and removeable goggles would be the absolute shiz. Put him in a comic pack with Drac...best comic pack ever. Seriously.

What can we say about Cage. I guess it's not Hasbro's fault the modern LC doesn't have a costume. But they seriously could've put more thought into this poorly painted "thug". Like WTF is up with that splotchy paint skin tone they were using on so many of the figs? Anyway, he was just horrible, and the waste of a slot if they weren't even gon try with the character. I'm hoping Power Man will be better. I'd love to see a 90's Cage over what we got. An Marvel Max mini-series Cage would be far too much to ask for, I know...

As for Mary Jane, the only thing I didn't like about her was her horrible face and the stupid-ass Spidey logo on her chest. Her shirt, stretch pants, and hair were great; an homage to the Adam Hughs drawing. And technically that Miss Kitty fig has the best sculpt in all the MU line (it's dead on). Though whoever thought it would be a good idea to put the logo on MJ's chest should really be fired. They are totally out of touch with thier consumers. It's like Mattel making a Lois Lane in her mini-skirt and blazer and then putting the Supes shield across her back. It's totally unrealistic, a waste, and just plain dumb. We know who she is. That's why we bought the figure.

Jason Abbadon 05-16-2011 07:40 PM

Yeah...pinhead Jesn is the only MU fig I can bring myself to buy.
Terrible.

Ironically, Luke Cage has probably the most accessories....although those aren't very good either

Terrible.

I never bothered to pick her up either. I think that the one I'd go with would be the lame, unposable spiderman(men) figures.

ad1976 05-16-2011 08:16 PM

I thought the MU sub-mariner was pretty aweful. His costume was too off the mark from how you know him (a vest...what?), his face sculpt didn't look anything like him, and his triden looked like a fork. The Invaders one was much better, what they should have done in the first place!

The upcoming Namor looks really sharp.

tlasjr 05-16-2011 08:53 PM

Anytime I feel bad about the Marvel Universe line I pull out my Spiderman Doc Ock and Superhero Showdown Elektra and feel better about everything. ...except maybe the orang comic pack guy, is that Bulldozer?

DogFashionDisco 05-16-2011 09:07 PM

Truly the worst figure ever.
Don "Donkey Punch" Kong figure - Toy Discussion at Toyark.com

Tiberius 05-16-2011 09:30 PM

I don't have a worst figure, I just have body mold that I hate with a passion. That mold being the DareDevil mold. I am honestly a sucker for scale, so when I see Hasbro using a bad body mold for a character under 6 feet [take human torch for example, character is 5'11 and uses the long and lanky body] or using a wrong body mold for a character over 6 feet [Comic pack Mr Fantastic, UHG]. I think now though with newer figures, Hasbro as finally figured it out. Constrictor, the character, is 5'11 and uses different parts to help with scale.

So with that being said. Worst figure DareDevil mold figures, best figure, Constrictor.

=3

XForce609 05-16-2011 09:51 PM

White gloved punisher is the worst lol

afgoosett 05-16-2011 09:55 PM

My black gloved punisher was pretty bad too. When I got him home and opened him up the son of a bitch was missing a hand. I'd have to say every MU Wolverine is the worst. Now when they come out with an axm Wolvie we'll talk.

sevens 05-16-2011 10:07 PM

I agree- Daredevil mold figures were the worst!!! I remember when Marvel Universe first came out and I opened up Daredevil. He virtually fell apart in my hands and I couldn't pose him for crap. I am so glad the line improved so much.

If you want to include the XMO line, it doesn't get any worse than Blob.

trebleshot 05-17-2011 09:28 AM

Mine's a toss-up between Daredevil and the first release of Punisher. I don't really think I need to elaborate.

Nobody talks bad about Ms. Lion! Ms. Lion is AWESOME!

...but seriously, I kinda wish she had been part of the 3-pack instead of Spider-Man. Or at least replaced Iceman and made Bobby a single-pack release.

I also wish I had actually found her at retail just the once.

Ms. Lion. Calling a dog "Kitty" is an insult. :p

Ah, but it's not a Marvel Universe figure, so it doesn't count.

Optimus Vader 05-17-2011 10:04 AM

Jean Gray for me.

I agree, I remember a 3 3/4" Punisher was one of my top wants when Marvel Universe was announced and when I saw this figure I just couldn't buy it. The black glove figure while not perfect is still a great improvement.

Bulldozer looks great for what he is- dumberst member of the Wrecking Crew- he looks perfect for his Secret Wars appearance.
He's just a dumb charachter- his fig is really very faithful.
