THIS is why peg shields are better

Strap shields (like Movie Cap) and MU shields can't be held in front like this:

Redlantern161 05-25-2011 08:46 AM

hmm true but the straps would make the shields way better but maybe I can superglue some wide black rubber band

DarkestKnight 05-25-2011 09:04 AM

U.S. Agent's weird eagle shield is starting to grow on me.

jimsloth 05-25-2011 08:52 PM

who's head is that on Cap? or is that a variant?

wolvie82 05-25-2011 09:19 PM

Whos head did u use on cap? that matt tracker for MASK?

Theta Rock 05-25-2011 09:52 PM

The peg shields are okay I guess. I don't hate them, but I would rather have straps, it makes it easier to hold on the arm.

Although, the strap shields also have the clips that break off easy, I don't see the peg shields really having that problem.

I need to get the US Agent figure one of these days. I love that shield. It's so fighting american. I'll probably give it to Commander Rogers though. I might get two commander rogers, and give him one the shield and a skull cap for a fighting american custom.

Saint Phe 05-26-2011 05:03 AM

The head is from a Star Wars build-a-droid 2-pack. I think it was the Dark Trooper series.

sevens 05-26-2011 06:37 AM

I agree. I like the peg shields better, especially because you can "strap" the shields to their back by inserting the peg into their back-hole! Um, no jokes here please... I wasn't quite sure how to word that one :)

omega145 05-26-2011 07:07 AM

Good pictures, which gi joe did you get that head from? It fits well.

Robogeek28 05-27-2011 07:46 PM

I'm still unconvinced.:p

Saint Phe 05-27-2011 08:45 PM

Come on! What good does the shield do him just hanging on the side of his arm? He's got to hold it in front of him for it to fulfill it's purpose.

Sorry bro, but you'd never hold a shield that way, It's got no support. You need it braced against your body as it be flimsy as hell at the end of your extended arm.

Yeah, I'D never hold a shield that way. But I don't have enhanced strength. When Cap is charging a line of Hydra goons firing laser rifles at him from 3 directions, how much is good is his shield gonna be held against his chest? He's gotta be able to move it all over the place. Besides, it just looks cool with him holding it straight out.

Modern 1/18th articulation just isn't flexible enough to allow Cap to hold his shield in tons of cool positions if it's just strapped to his arm. With the peg/clasp combo, he can hold it close to his chest, to his side, or straight out.

Haloid1177 05-29-2011 02:08 PM

But when pegging ino the back of the fgure, it looks tupid, since it looks like there is no support for it. I much prefer the MU straps, as it looks better when it is on his back.

behindthemask 05-29-2011 02:43 PM

so the conclusion to what I've read, is win goes to MU shields when displayed on the figure's back and the win goes to the movie line peg shield when being held!, win win, and buy both to alternate. problem solved

Makes sense to me.

I like this Steve head best, but that one is pretty cool for an emo wave Steve Raogers? ;D

I personally like Cobra Commanders head on Captain America [Armoured Cobra Commander, to be exact]. Can you just smell the irony?
