Green Lantern is going to be played by...

According to Screen Rant, Warner Bros. has narrowed the candidates for the role of Green Lantern/Hal Jordan down to just three candidates: Justin Timberlake, Bradley Cooper and Ryan Reynolds (Wolverine).

Green Lantern is scheduled to open June 17, 2011.

[UPDATE] Green Lantern Rumor: Justin Timberlake as Hal Jordan? - Screen Rant

What do you guys think? I think that Ryan Reynolds has the best look, but should be busy with Deadpool. Can you imaging him playing both roles? Justin Timberlake is just completely wrong for the part that I can't even get into it. Bradley Cooper, could be okay, I guess. I'd have to give that a chance.

ZeoVGM 07-10-2009 01:38 PM

Timberlake is actually a good actor and might be able to pull this off.

ludovicotek 07-10-2009 01:47 PM

Don't get me wrong, Justin Timberlake can be funny as hell, well beyond the d**k in the box thing. I just don't think he has the maturity or masculinity, for lack of a better term, to play Hal Jordan/Green Lantern. Just my thoughts, though. Could be wrong. I won't get all bent outta shape over it if he lands the roll.

trebleshot 07-10-2009 02:10 PM

I thought Justin was alright in Alpha Dog.

Ryan would be my favorite, but I agree he should stick to Deadpool.

Haven't seen Alpha Dog. Good movie?

Shin Densetsu 07-10-2009 02:40 PM

Justin as Hal Jordan? Nah...

uberlad 07-10-2009 09:11 PM

michael keaton as batman?? that'll never...oh wait, wrong thread.

seriously though, i'm hard pressed to think of things jt hasn't done well. he carried n'sync; had britney before she went bat*h^t crazy; has a successful solo career in music; has been known to act every so often; and he kicks arse on SNL. i think having his name attached can only help the green lantern movie's chances of success.

ZeoVGM 07-10-2009 10:56 PM

It's officially Reynolds.

ludovicotek 07-11-2009 05:52 AM

ZeoVGM is indeed correct. According to Variety, Ryan Reynolds has landed the coveted role of “Green Lantern,” getting the starring role in Warner Bros.' live-action film based on the DC Comics hero.

Well with Deadpool they do need time to write a script, hire a cast and crew, scout locations. So maybe GL can be done during that time and he can go right to DP.

That's true. But if that is indeed the case, then perhaps Reynolds won't quite have the creative input he has alluded to recently. He seems to understand the Deadpool character quite a bit, so hopefully he can have some say in how he is interpreted this time around.

I'm growing more on the idea of him as Green Lantern. I really hope this movie kicks major ass.

scarecrow 07-11-2009 01:34 PM

This is a cool choice. Hal Jordan is a total badass and so is Reynolds. I can't believe they're FINALLY making a GL movie... My bro's been talking about that for years, but it always seemed out of reach because of the limitations of CGI.

MegaPrime33 07-11-2009 01:55 PM

My vote is for Bradley. This role needs a relative unknown to work, imo. Justin is too recognized and I honestly can't seem in the role, however that's not to say he wouldn't hit it out of the park. I love Reynolds, but I say stick with Deadpool for now. Bradley has grown popularity with The Hangover, but isn't too too popular, so I think it's a good fit.

scarecrow 07-11-2009 01:56 PM

I would've picked Bradley just so Reynolds could focus on Deadpool as well. I like Bradley a lot, but I think it's actually been confirmed that Reynolds is doing it.. So we don't have much choice in the matter..

MegaPrime33 07-11-2009 02:00 PM

Yup. I was just about to edit my post. Looks like Reynolds is GL.

It's not that bad, actually. Wasn't expecting much, going into it -especially with JT in it. But it also has Emile Hirsch and I thought he was great in Lords of Dogtown.

Yay!!

I agree that he should have enough time to do the GL movie and still be able to do Deadpool. Also, DP's costume and scarring (assuming they're able to do what Reynolds wants) will help somewhat with recognizablilty issues stemming from GL.

Then again, Ryan Reynolds is immediately recognizable to me regardless of the role he plays.
