Thanos/Warlock and Groot/RocketRacoon 2packs?

While Perusing GI Joe, Halo, Transformers, Marvel Legends, Bakugan, Star Wars Action Figures at CMDStore.com, as I do when I am bored, I happened upon a curious preorder in MU.
Listed on CMDStore.com's preorders is Thanos VS Adam Warlock, and Groot and Rocket Raccoon.

Thanos & Adam Warlock - Marvel Universe Action Figure 2-Pack Series at Cmdstore.com
Rocket Raccoon with Groot - Marvel Universe Action Figure (2011 Wave) at Cmdstore.com

A Store would not post this kind of information if it were false, especially a reputable store I've had dealings with(When they have a decent price). Whats your two cents, TA?

Tiberius 06-14-2011 12:54 PM

O M G

That is all

omega145 06-14-2011 01:02 PM

I heard about the Thanos/Warlock two pack but hadnt heard about the Rocket Raccoon. Frankly, I have no idea who Rocket and Groot are.

Tiberius 06-14-2011 01:13 PM

Guardians of the Galaxy. With Starlord. If you haven't taken an interest in Cosmic Marvel then that set would be easy to pass on.

omega145 06-14-2011 01:21 PM

I havent taken in interest in comic books in about 15 years but yet I still have a huge collection of Marvel Universe figures, so i'll probably pick up both sets anyway, haha!
I have no idea who the guardians of the galaxy are but for any characters that I dont remember reading or watching, I google them and usually check out the marvel wiki info.

AndyCR75 06-14-2011 01:26 PM

Yes I had read this somewhere else (wiki?) about 4 months ago and thought it a poor idea..but I can't see CMD running that if it didn't anticipate.

cainraw 06-14-2011 01:27 PM

Well, I was hoping for all the other Guardians first, but this is a start. If it's true. The Thanos and Adam Warlock is a definite buy though.

Symbiote 06-14-2011 02:34 PM

Surprisingly, wikipedia has a good list of all the marvel universe cast and future waves.

Saint Phe 06-14-2011 02:58 PM

I was thinking Hasbro had mentioned a Groot/Rocket set. I am PUMPED.

Kluster Bombs 06-14-2011 04:24 PM

Hasbro mentioned both sets during Toy Fair.

I thought they gave far fewer details about Rocket/Groot (and implied they both would be pack-ins) but the Warlock/Thanos should definitely appear as a comic pack.

behindthemask 06-14-2011 06:19 PM

Interesting, first I heard of these figures being released. I haven't read many comics lately, so personally not familiar with these characters, but if the price is right and thbe sculpt/paint aps are good then I will get them.

AndyCR75 06-14-2011 06:56 PM

Its just a bit discouraging that when you think of how many figures they HAVEN'T made...the fact that they would create 2 new sculpts for completely obscure characters? I'm sure we could all think of a 2-pack we'd prefer over that.

MasterSock 06-14-2011 07:19 PM

Where the iron fist and power man 2 pack along with quick silver and wonder man!?

This! This! THIS!! I would NEVER shove a child out of the way to buy a toy, however, with these 2 comic packs I may do so just by reflex and then feel like a complete asshole. Then again... I would have Wonder Man...

No way! Rocket Raccoon has gotten all kinds of play in the last couple of years. He's hardly obscure anymore. I can only think of maybe 3 or 4 other characters I'd rather have than him. And after the recent Annihilators series, making a pack with him and Groot makes perfect sense.

oh. hmm. well Im not much of a comic guy...so I really am not too familiar with the storylines? But sh*t, just give me a Black Bolt. An Inhumans 2pack. Something I can sink my teeth into!

Atomic Platypus 06-14-2011 09:33 PM

NO. If they wana start doing Cosmic figs, Nova comes first. THE END.

Nah. I'd rather have characters that are alive/not trapped in another universe first.

Just to be clear, I'm not saying I wouldn't love to have Nova. And I would REALLY love to have Starlord. I'm just defending the release of the RR/Groot pack.

agreed. first thoughts that came to my mind were wtf??

on the flip side, that thanos/warlock 2pack is down right cool, a definite buy for me.

cainraw 06-14-2011 10:18 PM

Actually.....yes. Nova should come first. Check every single thread on here that has anything to do with " what do you want from hasbro" and Nova is on all of them. I want all the Marvel Cosmic goodness, but Nova should be a no-brainer for them. His costume is tailor-made for a fig. Actually, all the Guardians are.

Tiberius 06-14-2011 10:19 PM

For me, it would depend on what versions of the characters are used. I like the modern Adam Warlock, but I wouldn't complain if it was the version with the infinity gauntlet either. I won't be making any pre-ordering or getting excited when I haven't seen the final figures.

neatogecko 06-14-2011 10:22 PM

Thanos and Warlock are a must buy for me. Groot and the Raccoon are a bit of a WTF in my opinion. So many characters I would like to have seen before them. But who am I kidding, I will still buy them (toyyyys...toyyyyys...I mean braaaains...braaaains).

Tiberius 06-14-2011 10:35 PM

It doesn't say that Groot and RR are Gigantic battles...I am assuming it is... I'll be counting on you, fellow arkers, to pick one up for me. My walmart doesn't carry MU anymore and never carried Gigantic battles
