G.I. Joe Resolute 2009 Animated Web Series

For those of you in the Action Figure World that may have missed this announcement, G.I. Joe Resolute is coming first quarter 2009! The all new PG-13 Animation Micro Series will be one hour long, broken into ten 5-minute websodes with one 10-minute websode finale. With writer Warren Ellis and director Joaquim Dos Santos at the helm backed-up by "Metalocalypse Fame" production house Titmouse, this series is set to put the YO in your Joe!

G.I. Joe Animation Series Break-Down

At this years SDCC fans from all corners of the world were treated to a small G.I. Joe animation clip called "Resolute". This was just a teaser clip, not directly related to the eventual Resolute story line. That short clip was show ant both JoeCon and SDCC with the same results, extremely excited fans and with good reason. The new show will feature a PG-13 story line with top notch animation. Real bullets, real military tactics and comes complete with real deal characters taking dirt naps.

Joaquim Dos Santos, was at both JoeCon and SDCC to set the tone for the new series. He wanted everybody to know that he was a Joe fan and so are all of the people who are working on this production. It was explained that when Fighters get shot down, not everybody gets to use their parachutes. The new USS Flagg was shown with a few shots of the interior including the infirmary that gets used more then once to help wounded Joe team members. No information was given on who actually dies in the series but IMO it was strongly hinted that it may take place in this facility.

With that said the Character Designs were also shown along with a few updated vehicles. You can view the Images below for some of the revealed cast. But before you do that check out the animation clip that sent G.I. Joe Fan-Boys into a Frenzy!

Fans can expect that Vintage Characters slated for future release (Blowtorch, Tunnel Rat, Alley Viper Ect..) will pay homage to their Classic RAH counterparts while those figures tagged with Resolute Fame will see the updated look and feel of the Animated Series. This past week we received our first look at the new G.I. Joe Resolute Logo and our first real styled Resolute Figure in Destro.

Starting in 2009, all of the Comic 2-Packs will feature the Resolute Theme written by Larry Hama and Drawn by new G.I. Joe Comic License Holder IDW. All of the new Resolute figures will fit into the current size class 3 3/4 - 4" so fans do not need to worry about this issue.

So to wrap things up Resolute is set to make a huge impact on the History of G.I. Joe and is one of the most anticipated G.I. Joe series of all time.

Screen Caps, Action Figure Images and Character Sheets can be seen below. Stay Tuned for more information............ETA first quarter 2009!

Optimus Scourge 11-21-2008 11:07 PM

I am really looking forward to this series!

Dark Ramjet 11-21-2008 11:18 PM

This looks promising, maybe I'll start collecting Joe's now

Sol Fury 11-22-2008 03:55 AM

VERY cool. I think I'm going to enjoy watching this.

Buzzbeak 11-22-2008 11:03 AM

It’s weird seeing Destro with a massive Cobra emblem on his chest. But it’s also cool to get something new for him. I don’t know how many repaint IG Destros I can take.

MegaPrime33 11-22-2008 11:11 AM

Wait, so they're re-releasing the awesomeness of the Flagg??

From what I understand, no, the original FLAGG won't be reissued, at least, not that we know of.

Of course, they could surprise us with a newer version ala the SW BMF. Which wasn't supposed to happen, Hasbro kept a tight lid on that and surprised a lot of collectors.

I'd love to see one though, reissue or new, I would be all over it.

Takara_destron 11-23-2008 05:17 AM

Sounds promising.

I am really open to (read: am a complete sucker for) any old school Joe product redone for 25th compatibility. Rescaled, revamped, it doesn't matter.

The new Resolute product looks to be a dream come true for the fans that like a more realistic universe.

Now I just wish BBTS would tell me my Resolute wave shipping...

Vulcan Raven 11-23-2008 04:47 PM

Very excited about this!!!

Ktulu 11-23-2008 08:53 PM

Art kinda has a Capcom vibe to it, especially Destro. I dig that

knownasx 11-24-2008 02:23 PM

cant wait for it
