Oh...My...GODZILLA!!!

From tomopop.com

You can see pics here...
Bandai introduces its newest Godzilla figure line, S.H. Monster Arts - TOMOPOP - COLLECTIBLE TOY CULTURE - Vinyl toys, Papercraft, Garage kits, Gamer toys, Japanese toys, robots, movie toys, and more.

We already knew that Bandai was going to make a new figure line centered around the Godzilla franchise, but I did not think it would turn out this great. The name of the new series of figures is S.H. Monster Arts. From first glance, the figures look to have amazing detail and great poseability, something which has been lacking from pretty much every Godzilla figure.

The first two figures in the line will be Godzilla in his 1994 appearance along with Mecha Godzilla as it appeared in its debut. I really can't get over how great these figures look. Just the fact that the tail is articulated, and it can hold itself in the air is amazing to me. This kind of articulation isn't surprising as the technology is based off the wildly-popular S.H. Figuarts line. Just like S.H. Figuarts, these figures will include die-cast and 29 points of articulation.

As for their releases, Godzilla (1994) will be released this November for 5,775 yen. The initial release will also come with bonus heat effect parts and a stand. Mecha Godzilla will be made available in December for 6,825 yen. Considering the amount of die-cast involved with that release, you can understand the cost increase. Like Godzilla, it will also be released with bonus effect parts when released.

There is a lot to look forward to in these lines and I really hope to see this line be made on a consistent schedule. Any fan of Godzilla or kaiju has been waiting for figures like this for a long time. I just feel kind of bad for Revoltech, because they essentially have had their momentum killed. Then again, I don't think they could have stepped up to the King of All Monsters

You guys need to see these pics of the figures, they are just too AWESOME for words!!!

Those do look great. I've always checked out Godzilla stuff, TemptingToys.net carries them and I always see them at shows he's at. But, there are so many, and most are non-articulated. Wasn't my thing.

These however, I may just have to get. Will go well on my "everything else" shelves for sure.

If I'm not mistaken (please correct if I'm wrong)
But Yen to Dollars...

Godzilla, Yen 5,775 = $73.10

Mecha Godzilla, Yen 6,825 = $86.39

And have no clue how tall these will be.

miraclefan 07-14-2011 09:52 PM

Okay this site S.H. MonsterArts - Godzilla by Bandai | CollectionDX

Says 155mm so they will be over 6 inches.

Prowl 2009 07-15-2011 06:56 AM

These look great! Mecha Godzilla will probably be the first of the two I get! It's about time we get some Classic style Godzilla pieces that are fully articulated and do their film counterparts justice.

Do we have a release date for these?

Deefuzz 07-15-2011 09:55 AM

Absolutely awesome. Will definitely pick both of these bad boys up!

miraclefan 07-15-2011 05:37 PM

Just so everyone knows the Mechagodzilla that they plan on releasing isn't the ''original''
This one is...

But I'm not complaining, ;) I'm sure There will eventually be a release of this one sooner or later.

Ezilla82 07-15-2011 08:08 PM

This is cool. But I wish they can be release here in the states. I wonder retailers like BBTS have them pre-order...well not now, but hopefully soon.

SPACEGODZILLA AND accessory packs announced!

UPDATE! SPACEGODILLA & Effects Accessory packs announced!Tamashii Festival at Akibahara: S.H. Monster Arts

Although it made its grand debut online yesterday, but the new S.H. Monster Arts line has grabbed our attention. We already knew about 1994 Godzilla and Mecha Godzilla, but a new monster was added to the mix in the form of Mogera. Also shown in the impressive diorama was Space Godzilla. Given the quality that these figures are showing in their debuts, it almost seems like a crime to put them in anything other than a diorama.

We had to see this coming, but the first batch of web-shop exclusives has been announced. Coming in December for Godzilla is its Effect Part Set. It comes packed with the Red Spiral Atomic Breath, 3 stands, 10 scale ground vehicles, and 6 aircraft. Considering all that you get, it's not a bad deal for 2,415 yen. Then again, I wish it weren't exclusive and was actually packed in with the standard release.

I'm hoping to see a bit more from this series, but I imagine that all of us are thinking the same. We want this out already and on our shelves.

HOLY CRAP!!! Things are getting alot better for this line. Okay I'm impressed.

bmbloo 07-16-2011 06:36 PM

Sweet diorama. Wish I could've been there :)

JibbaJabba 07-17-2011 03:21 AM

That's a pretty awesome cityscape! And Gojira rules!

JibbaJabba 07-17-2011 03:21 AM

Awesomesauce!

Enigma2K2 07-17-2011 01:10 PM

I've been recently watching Cinnemassacre's Godzillathon on YouTube repeatedly, and now this...

The 2012 reboot is gonna do me in. I haven't felt this way since the last time I had sex.

CrockAlley 07-17-2011 02:16 PM

Figures look fantastic. Price is way too much for a casual hobby of mine like Godzilla, though. I got all the G Revoltech stuff, but that was quite a bit cheaper. The breath effects look silly with those support posts.

But still, I long for these.

Prowl 2009 07-18-2011 07:28 AM

Sweet!

RoketoPunch 07-21-2011 05:00 PM

I'm not digging the firebreath stand.

But GodZ looks killer.

miraclefan 08-04-2011 12:30 PM

Just preordered mine!:D

Man, those prices are down right...reasonable if you ask me. :)

printer6 08-25-2011 05:47 PM

For anyone who has bought the Figuarts figures, how are these guys likely to be in terms of durability? I'm not expecting them to stand up to the same kinda abuse as the vinyl Godzilla figures; simply having so many more joints rules that out. I just don't want Godzilla to come apart in my hands while trying to pose him.

SPLIT LIP 08-25-2011 07:17 PM

I doubt you'll have to worry about anything to that extreme. Regular Figuarts are pretty good, so these more chunky designs should be even more durable. Just don't give 'em to the kids to play with. :)
