Marvel Universe Variant Confusion

Good Morning All,

I have a quick question and if it has been asked already (and answered, I couldn't find it and my apologies). As the designated toy hunter of my friends for Marvel Universe action figures, I have come across an interesting conundrum in my searches. Which figures are the variants?

I ordered a Skaar from eBay with the "Son of Hulk" on the base due to the fact I was toldy that was the variant. Today I found two Skaar's with the same writing. A quick search on eBay and now I see the base with Skaar is the variant.

Same question about Cable, which was the variant. Same with Dr. Strange. Before it was easy to tell, but now I am not sure.

If someone could help or point me in the direction of a site that clearly explains, that would be great!

Not sure about Skaar, but the clear Dr. Strange is the variant, BUT it seems to be more common than the regular colored version. Go figure. Not sure is this is a running change or not.

Cable with Hope was the original release and then there was a running change to Cable without Hope. Not exactly a variant. It's a running change. So, the Cable with Hope will probably end up being the more rare of the two.

I think the variant word might be used too often. Most of the "variants" seem to be running changes.

I would think that these are the so called variants but then again, we have no idea what the distribution or plans of Hasbro were as far as I know.

Cable w/out baby hope, phasing vision, clear dr strange, long haired winter soldier, son of hulk Skaar, dark red daredevil and bullseye, skrull with foreight writing on stand, clear human torch

I think people often assume that "variant" means rare. I also don't think there's every been anything official from Hasbro as far as which versions of their variants they produce more of. And you won't find that answer on these boards, because there is no concrete answer.

^ No, there's not. But I know from personal experience that once Hasbro makes that running change it stays. So usually the first version of that figure becomes more rare. I've seen it happen time and time again with their Marvel Legends and Marvel Universe.
