Imaginext Ankylosaurus "Dino Rider"
5 Attachment(s)
10.99 on sale at Target, haven't seen them at WM yet, don't even know why I try anymore except hopefully to use my discount and that's losing my appeal.
Figure: Same articulation and build as the other figure, has the same headgear as the other good guy. He's a brown haired younger guy compared to the other figure. He comes with a hunk of yellow green Volcanium and a huge hand held drill, I put it to the side like a small drill platform when he's on the dino. The drill is a little loose in his hand and mine has a slightly twisted block on the bottom it's not a huge deal though, haven't tried to bend it back since it might stress the clear soft plastic. |

Dino Tech Gear:
The harness is all one large piece it's easily removed and holds on by friction to the rows of spines. Again no long range weapons here just a large set of pick axes, which work by manually pushing down with you fingers it' quite fun. The seat and harness have alot of details as well as a control panel and interior it looks like a rollbar cage from a dune buggy with pistons and such that could withstand and counter the pick axe stress. He also includes the pimped out "brain box", his has eye holes and fits on with friction over his head spikes it's a good hold but feels like it might break if you pull excessively. Also, on the smaller sets it says Fisher Price on the back of the seat, couldn't find it at all on the Apatosaurus. |

Dino:
On this guy it's almost a shame to gur' him up, he has a super detailed set of back scales and the bottom section has the pebbled texture again it contrasts well with the top section. The sculpt is again different on both sides and the leg muscles are super buff, as I had said in the Raptor review he has a left out feature, his tail doesn't pose which is kind of a let down, but has a smashing gimmick when you raise it and let it go. Not much ,ore than leg movement but it's not as if he would be jumping in extreme poses anyway. The green back piece is actually a seperate piece from the white back spikes the head spikes are painted over the green plastic though. The green on the tail is also a seperate piece fromt he orange on the tail. His eyes are well painted and aren't crazy like some painted eyes these days. He's pretty hefty and feelsa durable. |

Gured' Up:
I love the way his harness fits on easily removed and placed on by friction. The pick axes are fun to play with and sound like they actually are working sounds like the oil derrick things pumping. They move very freely and are riveted from the inside. I also found if you remove the harness and turn the pick axes around it makes an excellent catapult for the Volcanium. I tried storing the drill in it but it doesn't look so great a tiny basket like on the Raptor to hold the gear would have been neat. |
I love the ankylosaurus. I also love how when you remove the armor, it doesn't affect the appearance of his body. And the armor slides in naturally and easily. I do wish the ankylosaurus could open his mouth like most of the dinosaurs. While I like the ankylosaurus weapons, I just don't know how they would battle against the T-Rex considering that it has missile launchers. Maybe the ankylo's scythes create some kind of tremor or earthquake.
