Price Comparisons for Marvel Universe
Now if there's already a thread like this, I apologize for being a dumb ass and not finding it.
Anyways, I have some questions about the prices of Marvel Universe figures. A. Down in the U.S how much do the Gigantic Battles figures cost? B. Down in the U.S how much do the Masterworks figures cost? C. How much do the Comic Packs cost? Up here in the great white north, Marvel Universe figures cost about $9.96 ($11.11 if you include my Provinces, B.C's, taxes.) and in the U.S cost about $7.99 (I'm assuming more with U.S taxes?). Now I was wondering this because Marvel Universe is a VERY hard thing to find up here, the new stuff anyways. Meaning, Gigantic Battles and Masterworks don't even exist up here unless you're in a comic book shop. And they charge $100 for Galactus, and most likely the same for the Sentinel. So I do most of my purchases off Ebay. And of course on Ebay the figures go for more than retail (U.S retail usually). So basically I'm trying to find out the difference between prices, just to see if Ebay is even worth it. And there's the part of me that's just curious to find out the price difference. If you were wondering why they're more expensive in Canada, it's because of our bilingual law. All packaging has to be in English and French (Usually Spanish too) thus making the packaging more expensive to make. It's pretty stupid. Also, if there's already a thread like this, just direct me to it and I'll probably just post this again there. |
In Houston. Single cared figures are on sale at Target for $6.99 BOGO free. Wal-Mart will price match if not they are at $7.99. TRU is at $8.49. Giant size figure goes for $24.99 at Wal-Mart but I have seen some on sale for $17.00. Sentinel at TRU is $49.99 and $54.99 at Wal-Mart.
Comic packs range from $12.99-$17.99 depends on where you go. |
Marvel universe varies out here form $6.99 to $12.99
So do the Masterworks form $54.99 to $69.99 Comic pack go form $14.99 to $24.99 Most expensive being comic and mom and pop shops. Cheapest Walmart, then target, last toy r us |
Well that's a big no for getting a gigantic battles figure off Ebay. Here I am thinking $50 isn't that bad of a price lol.
|
Zellers (equivalent to Target) is the most expensive here. They recently bumped everything up, $13 for single cards and $25 for comic 2packs. Oddly, those older 2-pack exclusives (Target) still cost $13. Worst of all, selection completely sucks at all retailers. Nearly doesn't exists, with crumbs remaining from the same old crappy waves i.e. Hand Ninja, Aim soldier, Multiple Man, Iron Man crap, etc.
But man, I really wish Masterworks and Gigantic Battles were available here....prices on ebay and whatever is available at our LCS are just too insane to justify purchase... |

Isn't Zellers turning into Target anyway?
The lowest for Masterworks Sentinel is Toys R Us ironically for $49.99. I'm sure they will raise the price closer to Xmas. Then again you Canadians have a chance at Shocker. He isn't even down here yet. Plus the Iron Man 2 comic wave seems to be easier to find up north. Just saying we would gladly trade some MU figures for those. |
I picked up a 90's X-men costume Jean Grey for $13NZD, thats about 10.8242 USD.
|
10 bucks for that jean gray? uggh. it might be rare, but it sucks balls. But seriously, i feel bad for you guy up in the great white north. The only thing i suggest to try if anything is going to the stores located closer to the border even if it means a small road trip.

$7.99 USD seems to be the asking price around here for single packs at Walmart and Target, with a $1 bump for TRU. Comic packs are $14.99 for Wally and Target, with the $1 bump again at TRU. Gigantic Battles were $30 last I saw them, while Masterworks were anywhere from 49.99 to 69.99, depending on the time of day and the TRU you were at. Haven't seen the Sentinel at all around here, but I haven't had a chance to look for about 2 weeks.

If it weren't for the low distribution numbers for that figure, she would probably pegwarm. Quote:
