New MU variants? or just fakes?

1 Attachment(s)
Greetings everbody,

This is my first post.

I was surfing and found an almost unbelievable posting and wanted to ask what you guys thing about it and IF it is true and you do happen to come across any, then please pick them up and I'll buy them from you.

The link below and the picture provided suggests that someone found a Dr. Strange variant of him in street clothes and a Dr. Doom variant of him in white from the future foundation run.

A lot say they are fakes.

Any thoughts?

The Variants just keep on coming (Marvel Universe)

Dr. Doom "Variant"

A few weeks back there was talk about a new Dr. Doom Variant. Turned out it was a clever hoax by a good custom-maker. Not even really a hoax, he just put it up and let the webs run wild with it. If anyone has interest in winning that FF Dr. Doom custom, feel free to PM me or Google custom dr. doom giveaway. Someone's giving it away.

First, welcome to the Toyark! Second, this thread belongs in the Marvel toys discussion thread, so it's been moved.

Third, I'm almost positive they are fake. Ironically, they do look like pretty good customs, though.

Optimus Vader 09-16-2011 06:22 AM

That's a fake Doom (or not a factory made Doom) ^^

Pictures of it have been floating around for a few weeks now. If you look closely you can see slight tears around the bubble from where it's been opened/resealed.

..and no one else in the whole wide world has found one.

iLegends73 09-16-2011 06:23 AM

check it out on marvelousnews.com's thread. someone said they're fakes. doc strange is a XMO sabertooth custom and doom was just a repaint. im still thinking its possible but idk

omega145 09-16-2011 06:33 AM

This had already been posted on here a few times and yes they are fakes. The Dr. Doom is also a give away on this thread:

Yeah they have been proven fake. Someone in the Marvel Universe Community has admit to it.

A Future Foundation Doom would be awesome tho.

Yes he would. That is what they should have came out with instead of a Lighter color version of the same figure.

post of the day^,damn right man,I would buy a whole peg of em! \m/

Optimus Vader 09-16-2011 08:17 AM

I'm sure they'll eventually give us a FF Doom. Seems inevitable.

Shawn Woodbeck 09-16-2011 09:11 AM

If they do I hope its not a repaint of the current. If Hasbro did that it would be VERY disappointing.

they already have jipped us out of a new Doom by making the single carded one the same as the cp version, what they should have done is made an actual secret wars Doom for the cp and then gave us the Doom we have now for the single card, they also did it with Ultron which also sucks,so I have no doubt that if they do give us a FF Doom it will be the same tired mold.

flipwilson 09-16-2011 09:36 AM

The thought that there is someone out there buying figures and making cool customs of them and returning them makes me laugh. The ultimate collector trolling.

I doubt that he made the custom and then returned it. He probably just put it on the pegs and took the picture.

quinten182 09-16-2011 09:48 AM

I thought that was the Sabretooth at very first glance. Good to know I'm still on my game! Ha

That would be a tough one to explain to security on why he is walking out with a figure that he doesn't plan on paying for.

Thats what a receipt is for and last time I checked, security at Walmart is non-existant.

A receipt for a figure he prolly bought a while ago? I dunno about your Wal-Marts. But mine are pretty strict! Especially when you are walking out with no bag. They check dates and # of items sold

I dont know how hard it is to believe that someone walked in with a bag that had this dr. doom in it and he had the receipt for the original doom and then took a pic of it hanging on the pegs just to start the rumors of this dr doom variant. Why would someone take the time to paint up a custom Dr. Doom to leave it on the pegs?
I've never heard of any Walmarts being strict on anything, that place is a joke.
Thats why there are so many repacks found at Walmart.

Whatever you say smarty pants, have you been waiting to hit me with that for a while now? I never said anything about people wasting their time shopping at Walmart. The discussion was about the Walmart hate but yet people still continue to hunt and shop there. Do a multiquote next time (wait that would be taking away from your points) or go troll somewhere else bud.

Not hard to believe. Just seems a little suspect for someone to walk in to Wal-Mart, and pass the person who checks the bag when you walk in to see what you are returning. And then proceed to walk away from customer service in the opposite direction towards the toy aisle. I'm sure Wal-Marts very from place to place but here they are strict. They even have secret shoppers. Employees who walk around in regular clothes just to see who is stealing.
