The Lottery Question?

There's a lot of threads asking favorite toys, characters, which ones you want to see made, redone, repainted etc, I have not seen a lottery thread. So here it goes. A lot of people play the lottery in hopes of 1 day striking it rich and be the lucky person holding the 1 winning ticket out of a 100,000,000 losing tickets. Lets say you're that lucky person and you just won 50 million $'s. You got all your bills, debt, friends and family taken care of, You got a brand new house, with 1 room dedicated to your(our) hobby of action figures and collectables. Which of the follow do you do

a) say fuck toys I got enough $$ to build an actual Iron Man suit

b) keep a modest collection only buying the odd thing here and there

c) stay awake for 72hrs and rack up a million dollar tab on ebay, bbts, hlj, sideshow etc

d) Just aim to get the missing figures from the lines you're already collecting , basically you're just buying more of what you had but not going outside of that bubble.

e) sell all your old toys and buy better ones aka sell ML and buy Hot toys

f) I want it all, anything you want in your collection, "need" to have, you buy it and don't think about the cost

g) for the MOC collector, buy your own comic store and just not sell any aka turn your office/toy room into a mini store will full pegboard, displays etc

h) other

Myself I would fall into mainly be d) but I would have a good dose of c and h

I'd have an entire wing or large, large room like Gene Simmons office full of floor to ceiling display cases all climate controlled with lights, hand painted mural backdrops for every one, custom name tages, bases, 1 would be MU, 1 ML, 1 MI, music figure, movie figures, video game, dc, vintage stuff, and then a bunch for statues, replicas, props, and hot toys figures. I don't have the $$ now to afford HT or SS figures but 50million changes all that very fast. I know myself when I have a hard time falling a sleep sometimes I think about this very idea and what amazing shit I'd buy and do with it. lol 1 day this'll happen and you'll see the greatet look at what I just got post ever lol.

H) Other. Why? I don't know, it's hard to say what I would do with that money, probably buy the BAF Giant Man, and then die happy. But this is what I would get

1. Buy this
http://www.3dm3.com/tutorials/bugatt...yron_hires.jpg
The Bugatti Veyron, 1000 flippin horses behind that beast, nothing but amazing.
here is a video James May's Bugatti Veyron Top Speed Test - Top Gear - BBC autos - YouTube

2. Build a giant house. Need one? I may just build you one too! With a giant basement, dedicated for a giant MU diorama, yea, epic.

3. Buy another Veyron, 2000 horses sitting in my giant garage? Why not?!

4. Buy doubles, triples, hell, 4 of each! one for display, another MOC, donate another.

5. Buy some epic comics, get a fireproof room for them only, no natural light in the room, just soft, dim lights, like a museum.

6. Retire.

Seriously, watch the video, make sure you piss n shit before you do though.

Boba Fettuccini 08-30-2011 01:14 AM

D).

I don't see a need to have everything, I just like having the main characters from all the movies, and a couple of my favorite comic-only characters here and there. Though I would probably splurge and buy more Star Wars and stuff for customs.

6 is obvious unless you have an amazing job already you're going to quit, and good chances if you have a sick job you probably don't play the lottery much. 5 is a good suggestion, I would love to have original iron man ,spiderman, xmen, avengers comics etc climate controlled with musem lighting would be ideal. and fireproof yes!4 Hell ya, if I got hella cash I'm getting professional model builders to make me a 20ft by 20ft display for a giant diorama that would make Hasbro's shit a brick, I'm talking like 300 aim soldiers, 400 skrulls, 400 custom kree, 200 shield agents, .

as per # 2, Watched the video , have seen it before, car is sick, powerful, and also costs $1,000,000, with probably 100k/year in maintenance and insurance etc, plus very few places you could take it to actually unleash it's true potential. If we're getting into whips, then for the winter I'd have a hummer on 24's and a I mean a humvee military type with bulletproof tires, windows and a gatling gun on the roof, custom jeep with giant lift kit, plow and giant tires, for the summer 67 mustang fastback gt500 supersnake edition, old stuff hemi cudas, corvette stingrays, el caminos, hot rods, customs, choppers, harleys, haha I love that kinda stuff so I'd have a few whips, I just dunno about that car as I'd end up killing myself with the power, it'd have to be something I use for red carpet events or munchie runs when the store's about to close. lol. It's kinda sad how money can make your life so much better when you have it, and so much worse when you don't and the people who typically have lot of it don't do anything cool with it haha. investing wtf is that, it's called I want 1 of those dinosaurs from Jurassic Park!

thechris 08-30-2011 01:16 AM

I'd probably just spend the money on better display cases. LOL. Have some work done on the house. That's about it, really.

Not sure what kinda house u got or neighborhood you live in but $50 million would buy you a 10 room mansion, 100 cars, and ever Marvel toy known to man with enough money left to have a guest house for Omega, jk.

I'm not really that picky. I live in a comfortable house and drive a decent car and have most things that I wanted in life by way of possessions. I'd probably seriously just make improvements to my home and supe up my car a little more. I'm by no means rich but I have most things I wanted in terms of material possessions. :)

omega145 08-30-2011 02:37 AM

Who doesn't think about winning the lotto? Id first make sure my family is living comfortably in the present and then have money put away for my daughter and her future. Hire someone to help with finances and investing wisely. Then the fun part! After buying a house and vacation property along with a couple of cars, I'd start a larger toy collection Make sure I have a bedroom, den, attic or somewhere nice to have a showcase of my toy collection. Now I could easily pick up any holes in my collection through eBay or online along with buying some items that I normally wouldn't get like hot toys and more expensive items like bowen statues. Id also look into buying life size statues and the iron man suit isn't a bad idea either.

Primacron 08-30-2011 03:00 AM

Once I had the house and the fire-proofed collecting room set up, I wouldn't actually buy all that many Marvel toys, just a shed load of Sentinels, maybe a few other of the BAFs and Legends versions of those characters I want in MU as placeholders.

I would however, get all of the G1 accurate Alternators and Masterpiece toys (and commision a really good customiser to fill in the gaps) and upgrade my Star Wars Miniatures to full 3.75" figures and vehicles.

iLegends73 08-30-2011 03:00 AM

i saw a special on lottery winners and this one guy i shit u not had a huge ass room with all type of figures. all in glass cases some opend some unopend, and a life size spiderman statue.

im with omega. family 1st, house & cars 2nd then the fun stuff

thechris 08-30-2011 03:07 AM

Oh yeah, family. There's that. LOL. :p

Pros From Dover 08-30-2011 03:12 AM

I'd probably find away to display what I have properly.

I'd then fill in gaps in my collection, high end and low end.

Then probably sit down and customize for the rest of my life.

bmorr 08-30-2011 05:07 AM

its all relative to how much id actually win

NerfTW 08-30-2011 09:32 AM

50 million is a LOT of money. You couldn't have made it a little more reasonable, like 1 million?

I don't have any debt (I'm lucky, I know), so I'd buy a reasonably sized house on a lake or river, fill it with the furniture, build a lot of it myself (a dream of mine).

I've already used my recent promotion to fill in holes in my collection. But I'd be more willing to splurge on things like 2 sentinels, a Zoidberg figure for my Futurama collection, and finishing off the Robot Devil and Robot Santa figures from the same.

I'd also help my friends pay off their debts and student loans. Some more than others.

If it was 50 million, I'd be passing that all out to local charities like it's going out of style. 1 million would make a perfect nest egg to hang on to afterwards for retirement. No sense in living in a mansion full of rooms you'd never use.

Adamantium skeleton lol. I like how you laid out the scenario that prevented the pragmatic answers.
I'd get a huge plot and build a super hero themed mini amusement park complete with a personal comic book store.

I would do bits and pieces of all of these I think. I'd absolutely do something about making some sort of Iron Man suit.. Wether it's a costume or not. Hell, I'd probably try to by the movie prop from Stan Winston studios.

I could think of a handful of marvel legends I would buy. I'd finally get around to finishing Galacatus, I'd finally get around to team building the Avengers (I'm waiting for the new ML to do this so I can try to not spend too much $$ doing this). But in doing this, I'd buy a lot more figures than I think I normally would. I still don't think I'd buy the whole line tho. Then again tho, the money my change my mind.

I always wanted to own my own comic shop, but I don't see them as immensely profitable businesses any more. I'd be able to have one, and not really have to worry about losing money. Obviously, I'd try everything I could to not lose money, but with digital comics becoming more and more popular, I just don't see how you couldn't.

There's definitely somethings I would start collecting tho. I already have a handful of statues, and I've always really wanted the Sideshow Iron Man Comicquette from a few years back, but it's way too expensive now. I don't think I'd buy a really expensive car.. But I'd buy a decent one, with a good sound system. If I happen to think of anything else, I'll edit this post and fill you guys in

TheSymbiote 08-30-2011 10:17 AM

H for us, we probably buy all the same things we buy or want to buy now........only more.
Army build 100 Hand Ninjas and 100 AIM Soldiers
Buy Hot Toys figures we've always wanted
Japanese toys that are sooooo damn cool but are slightly expensive
we would also choose option A
