Mass Effect Shepard 3.75 Custom By STJ

Mass Effect Commander Shepard 3.75 Inch Custom

I said to myself that I wouldn’t go down the road of making Mass Effect customs in this scale, because once I started I would find it hard to stop.

But then today I accidentally went and made this Shepard figure and now I fear what lies ahead…. Many, many hours painting these little buggers.

Oh brownies... That's what they're calling it now?

stjuggernaut 09-01-2011 02:45 PM

hahaha. just show her the pics of the custom and then print them off!

your GF loves Mass Effect? how cool is that! its great when chicks love this stuff!

Mass Effect 3 looks awesome!

Tiberius 09-01-2011 03:07 PM

I never hear the end of it, Gears of war 3, Mass Effect 3, ect. I'm trying to annoy her with NHL 12 now lol

stjuggernaut 09-01-2011 03:20 PM

NHL is a non existant game across the pond here in England. Gears Of War 3 looks awesome but i dont have an x-box, so i miss out on that and Halo. But i do get the GOD OF WAR series and GOW III is one of the best games i have ever played hands down.

Have to say though, Mass Effect has awesome potential. Aperantly they have animated and live action movies in the works.

I am wondering who I should make next, Miranda or Garrus? I dont have thr parts for either but im sure i cant find some.

Jacob will be pretty easy because I can just use the ripcord head and duke body from the gi joe movies, ive seen that done before. might try to do something a little bit different though.

suggestions welcome!

Tiberius 09-01-2011 03:42 PM

Dude, make a Green Lantern figure to go with your Superman. I would love to see you make a JLA team out of MU figures!

stjuggernaut 09-01-2011 03:52 PM

the thought had crossed my mind, but the mattel movie one will do for the collection.

mu figures are atleast £10 a pop for me over here and thats expensive to use something as a custom really. plus i might as well put my time and energies into creating something new that i dont have rather than re-doing something i already have that suffices.

i didnt even want to really use up my sentry figure to make supes but i reeeealy wanted a supes so i had to bite the bullt. ill have to rebuy sentry at some point.

good idea though. i did think about making a movie concept wonder woman...

i need a fairly blank MU female figure as a base... i have no female figures.

Tiberius 09-01-2011 03:58 PM

10.00 GBP = 15.8005 CAD. Thats pretty rough. As much as I love GL, I cannot and will not pull the trigger on any 3 3/4" figure made by mattel, they just suck. I still think you should make a Aquaman at least =3.

stjuggernaut 09-01-2011 04:35 PM

yeh a movie style aquaman is a good idea. I have a folder saved on my pc of various different character concept art for loads of different characters all off google images by professional artists or just fans. always keeping in mind i might make customs of them.

i think i will go the route of the justice league in movie style.

ill get brainstorming on an aquaman and wonder woman.

yeh im not a fan of the mattel gl movie figs, but i did buy a few just because i love Gl and like 3.75 comic movie figures, needed some more to go with bats, hellboy, wolverine etc.

Tiberius 09-01-2011 04:39 PM

What do you use for your modeling clay too? It looks fairly easy to use. I use green stuff from gamesworkshop, and it is a damn PAIN.

stjuggernaut 09-01-2011 04:48 PM

i use super sculpy.

just slap it on and theres no need for this baking malarky, you just boil the fig in some water for a few minutes and its done. depending on the thickness of the piece. its a great material to use, although it can be a likttle brittle sometimes. if you drop a figure that has some details that are sculpt, they will more than likely break. it doesnt go rock hard. but it pretty hard to the touch.

you can get some really fine detail in there too with this stuff.

i get it from ebay.

Tiberius 09-01-2011 04:50 PM

Ah ok cool! It being brittle is a turn off, maybe I should read on ways to use Green Stuff more effectively because it goes rock hard =D.

thechris 09-01-2011 04:57 PM

Primo sculpting job, man. That looks great. I use Sculpey, too, but I agree that it tends to be a bit brittle. I use a heatgun instead of boiling, though. Works like a charm.

stjuggernaut 09-01-2011 04:58 PM

heatgun? what an earth is that??? sounds like the weapon of the dc character heatwave does it not???

never seem them out before, where do you buy them and what is their normal purpose??

Heat gun - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia For you, good sir!

stjuggernaut 09-01-2011 05:18 PM

ah cheers mate. simple as that! wikipedia! doh!

i dont think i could trust myself with that.

i have to do the "spectacles, testicles, wallet and watch" hand movement thing everytime before i pick up a stanley knife.

Tiberius 09-01-2011 05:22 PM

A blow dryer could probably work too

stjuggernaut 09-01-2011 05:44 PM

hmmm, i doubt that would get hot enough.

anyway, theres nothing wrong with the boiling method! :p
