Do you still play with toys?

I'll be turning 35 in November and I still play with toys.

I'm not talking about setting up dio's and snapping pics, nor am I talking about posing my figs and placing them on a shelf.

I'm talking about spreading out on the floor, thinking up stories, and acting them out with my action figures; complete with voices and sounds.

I normally do this with my son who is 7, but sometimes even when I'm all by myself I play with my toys.

Not to the same extent of course, but I certainly have a good guy kick the crap out of a bad guy if I'm bored and there are some toys near by.

Are there any other adults out there that still play with their toys like I do?

Do Boy 09-05-2011 10:55 AM

I'll be turning 30 this December and My girlfriend still plays with toys. And I'm talking about spreading out on the floor complete with voices and sounds.

Sometimes I'll make up stories while I watch her play with them. She normally does this with me, but sometimes even when she's all by herself, she plays with her toys.

Not to the same extent of course, but she certainly has a good time if I can't be around and she's bored and there are some toys near by.

Greenskar, your girlfriend is the very definition of a keeper.

Also reading his comment of his gf playing with her toys, sounds a whole lot dirtier in my mind. Honestly I don't play with toys that much, I snap action shots, assemble battle poses and mini dioramas, do some custom work, but not much role playing. My gf and I however do have a stuffed animal, he's a sasquatch from the vancouver olympics named Quatchi, he's big a fluffy, and we actually do a voice for him and make him throw tantrums and such, he's very fond of weed and tacos and when he doesn't get any we hear about it lol.

I'm 31 and still do, I pose them and just day dream. It's a great stress reliever for me.

Crazy Jetty 09-05-2011 12:57 PM

I do and I don't, if that makes sense. I remember when I was a teen, my girlfriend and I (She was also a collector and comic geek) would pull out all our x-men and marvel figures, and have grand old comedy adventures. Someone always ended up getting uppercut by someone with super strength, flying off team rocket style, and eventually landing on spiderman. "My Spider-sense is tingling... but from where? *SPLAT*"
Cyclops and Colossus were both always constipated (Because of their expressions), and Jubilee would usually end up making Wolverine cry.

We had a looot of fun.

Now, I rarely ever do anything on that scale (I'd admit it if I did. Especially since it seems so many here actually do too), but I always have a half dozen or more figures in reach of me. I always have to have something to keep my hands busy. And if it's a transformer, then usually gets driven across the be, or armrest... or flown around in acrobatic feats (If a jet).

I just turned 32 and I still play with my toys I just don't make up anything new. I'm always trying to recreate something from a tv show or movie. I do like to customize 4 inch toys by giving them more accurate likenesses and more detail. I would consider that playing. I find it relaxing. I wish my girlfriend would play with my toys. I guess I'll have to ask her. I never thought of it before.

joemama13 09-05-2011 01:52 PM

I do so occasionally with my kids

My gf used to play with some of my figures until she dropped and snapped the neck off my ML silver sentrium figure... I'm not an ogre and banning her, but she doesn't want to damage them so stays away lol. Girls need their own toys that's why Barbie was made, so little girls wouldn't have to steal their brother's gi joes and make them play house lol.

This happens a lot at my house too.

When I buy new figures I typically open them on the couch while watching TV. (It's kind of a ritual thing)

They sit there for weeks, until I put them away, and every now and then I pick them up and make them fight.

Ever since I was a kid I've always come up with "new" material when I play, though often it would build off of something I had already seen. (most of my toys "sound" like their cartoon counterparts)

I've always wondered what the percentage of the toy playing with public recreated things they had already seen with their toys though.

I kinda consider setting up my poses for pictures playing with toys but other than that if im not playing with my daughter or other kids then no. Id think its kinda weird for adults to ACTUALLY be playing with toys all by themselves.

what?I thought it was funny :/

anyway the answer is no,not in about 25yrs,I have a hard enough time opening them but once opened they either get put on a shelf(which is not playing with toys)or thrown in a fodder bin which they all end up doing in the long run.
