Next MU Masterworks Fin Fang Foom Bad Idea?

I don't know if anyone would or will agree with me, but I believe that choosing Fin Fang Foom and the next Marvel Universe Master Works is a bad idea.

The way the masterworks seem to have been chosen are characters that were chosen for BAFs. Now if you look at the list of the way they were released:

Galactus
Sentinel
Apocalypse
Onslaught
Giant-Man
Mojo
MODOK
Annihilus
Blob
Brood Queen
Red Hulk
Sandman
Ronan the Accuser
Fin Fang Foom
Ares
Nemesis

The next one should of been Apocalypse. Ok, some of you could argue that they already gave use an Apocalypse (in my opinion, it doesn't fill the void). Then how about Giant-Man with a Wasp figure? or a Modok for all those AIM Soliders? Why did it have to be Fin Fang Foom?!?!?!

What do you think?

ORIO 09-06-2011 09:36 AM

Would much rather prefer a new Blob figure! :)

But I'm X-biased.

Do Boy 09-06-2011 09:37 AM

I don't think they are Based on the BAF line. But more what the Fans want. They knew fans really wanted a Sentinel. Fans just didn't think they would get a re-painted Galactus. As far as Fing Fang Foom, I like the idea bc we know its just not a orange Galactus.

They might not be offically based off of the BAF line, but we are going to be up to 3 masterworks that are the same as the BAF line.

Blob would be cool. But for size, the one from the X-Men Origins Wolverine fits alright with the MU line.

Master works should be characters that are huge!

Which I am okay with. I was never into the ML line at the time, so never got any of the BAF and I don't think 115 for a Giant man (no matter how bad ass he is) is not worth it to me. So for all these MasterWorks coming out which are "BAF" don't bother me. Plus if I'm not mistaken the BAF Galatus is actually pretty small compared with MasterWorks

omega145 09-06-2011 09:43 AM

I wouldnt say a bad idea but I would like them to choose something that hasnt been done in the BAF line (as most arent as good as the BAF) or at least make a BAF that didnt turn out that great and improve on it as they did with the Galactus.

Yes you are right. The BAF Galatus is smaller than the Masterworks one.

My argument is character selection. BAF character selection seems to be the same as Masterworks character selection.

I Agree 100%
I missed out on Marvel Legends, so I never got any BAFs. Also, im a MOC collector so if I were collect them I would want them on card, but I would never get to see the BAFs built. So with them coming out as Mastersworks, I can get them on card and I retail prices.

Same here lol. But who knows. Back then I wasn't really a MOC collector as much as I am now. So I might have opened them. But knowing me they may have never seen the light of day lol.

Agreed. Give us something that we can go "OH NO THEY DIDN'T" *droolz*

Agreed.

LIGHT OF DAY = KILLER OF PACKAGE ART :P

Optimus Vader 09-06-2011 10:12 AM

I'm fine with Foom.

And What evidence do you have saying its based on the BAF? ever heard of coincidence?
Why would any of us want a Masterworks Ares, or Nemesis, or Ronan. The reason why the Sentinels and Galactus are so huge is because thats to scale with the regular figure line. Ronan, Ares, Red Hulk, Blob, and Annhilius would be about as tall as a standard larger figure, like thanos. while everybody else in that list except fin fang foom would work as gigantic battles. We dont need a 16 inch giant man. we already got a 12 inch one. Any bigger is just overkill.

Fin Fang Foom gets a Masterworks spot, cause believe it or else, there arent that many characters that could rival Galactus in size.
The only other characters who could really hit that size are Surtur, Ymir(Is bigger than the other frost giants), The Void, or the Living Tribunal

BAD MOON 09-06-2011 10:45 AM

I want them to make Eternity. That would be awesome. Perhaps with a Quasar fig?

I'll Consider Fin Fang Foom.. But I like my BAF one just fine. Same goes for MODOK.. Giant-Man and Wasp I'd get in a heartbeat, tho.

No I don't have any evidence, and yes is could be coincidence.

My argument is why choose Fin Fang Foom. I understand size wise the others would make better Gigantic battles. But like you said there are others that can be made as Masterworks.

and we don't have a 12" Giant-Man.. we have a 12" Goliath Variant Giant-Man Re-Paint.. unless it is listed as Giant-Man, its not the real deal.

vampireheart 09-06-2011 10:53 AM

I want The LivingTribunal and Eternity having an Ego wouldn't hurt either but thats wishful thinking

DogFashionDisco 09-06-2011 10:57 AM

MODOK would be the logical character to make a Masterworks figure of in the near future, but his smaller scale would require Hasbro to include other characters with him or a diorama to make it worth buying.

I don't think Modok would qualify for Masterworks. Gigantic Battle maybe, but not Masterworks.

Jmacq1 09-06-2011 11:01 AM

I kinda hope they have low expectations for how Foom performs, because Galactus and the Sentinel haven't exactly been hot sellers around here, and I could see Foom selling even less.

But should the line continue, I'd like to see:

Ultimo
Arishem the Judge (Celestial - Heck, I'd take a whole line of Celestials)
Master Mold (beefed up Sentinel)

as much as I would love Modok in a blister card, he is a bit of a runt. If he is made to big, he wouldn't fit well with the AIM soliders. He would have to put in the gigantic battles.. boxed.. not carded... :(

Master Mold would be sweet... my only problem is, when ever I hear Master Mold I picture the robot from the 90's Xmen Series on TV as a huge robot where sentinels come out of its chest.. So to make a robot that would fit a Masterworks Sentinel in its cheat would have to be like 5 feet tall..

That would be sick.. but really really really expensive

Galactus and Sentinel have sold well. Its that Hasbro made alot more of them than necessary.

That is exactly what I think of when I think of Mastermold.

bmorr 09-06-2011 11:11 AM

are we even sure its a masterworks and not a 12 inch greatest battles. Considering a 60 dollar price tag for a dragon with underpants, most if not all would rather pay 25 bucks for something more reasonable
