No more post office,no more trading?

So with all the talk in the news about the possibility of the post office shutting down, what would this spell for those of us that do trades?I heard them say that the internet may be the end for the PO as far as mail but it got me thinking, how would we be able to get trades done?

Tiberius 09-06-2011 02:43 PM

What do you mean shutting down? Do you got a news link?

Do Boy 09-06-2011 02:46 PM

First I have heard of this. But if it does happen. There is still always FedEx, UPS, and DHL.

well it was on the local news, there has been alot of talk about it because of the debt the PO is in there is a possibility it could shut down by winter, thats the short and sweet of it.

Tiberius 09-06-2011 02:49 PM

Oh, so I am assuming it is just your local Post Office then? I already had a "mail strike" and that sucked HARD.

Crazy Jetty 09-06-2011 02:50 PM

A lot of post offices are closing (Mine is one of them), but the orginization itself isn't going anywhere.

no no,it would be nationwide,I cant believe your local news isnt talking about this.

Tiberius 09-06-2011 02:54 PM

I dunno man, being Canadian might have to do with our post offices not shutting down. Like Canada Post recently just stopped their postal strike. I can't see it all shutting down now.

I did see a news story on Tv at lunch time about the US Post Office not making money and proposing to stop delivering on Sat and closing several locals and firing 1000's of people in order to make ends meet. I would not be happy about this. The price of stamps goes up every year. The Post Office needs a bail out. Lets fix the Post Office. :)

Curious as to how much it costs you guys to send out a MOC 3 3/4 inch figure...

depends,if its priority its around $5,if its snail mail its around $3 somthing.

Tiberius 09-06-2011 03:36 PM

Costs Canadians triple. To send MOC it i 5.86 CAD. [5.92 USD]. Maybe USPS needs to start charging more, that won't hurt them much at all. :P

bmorr 09-06-2011 04:09 PM

even if the post office closes, you guys do have those private retail shipping places like Postal Center USA?

omega145 09-06-2011 04:22 PM

You can still use Fedex, UPS, DHL...

D00MTR0N 09-06-2011 04:32 PM

yeah but none of them are as cheap and easy as the PO.

Well you never really mentioned price as a factor. You just said what could we do as an option if they closed.
