Marvel Movie hip fix
3 Attachment(s)
So after seeing someone else switch out scarlet spider parts for deadpool I figured it was time to give it a try. I'm going to do this tutorial style for those who care.
First I picked the blaster pack Deadpool, because his red matched Scarlet Spider's much closer than the single carded version. I boil and popped the legs off at the thigh swivel, then cut out the pin and pulled off the hip balls (snicker). http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...dpoolHips0.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...dpoolHips1.jpg Then I used snips to cut out the hip discs and tried to drill them down out of the way. Next I measured a Marvel Universe T bar I had previously scraped from a multiple man. I used my digital calipers to find the thickness of the post so I knew which drill bit to pick. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...dpoolHips2.jpg I also measured the distance up from the bottom of the crotch before drilling my new hole (snicker snicker). http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...dpoolHips4.jpg Now I took my saw frame and carefully cut up the seem. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...dpoolHips5.jpg I turned the torso 90* so I could cut as far up the seem as possible http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...poolHips5b.jpg Then I took a flat screw driver I sanded to be extra wedge/flat/sharp. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...dpoolHips6.jpg I carefully snapped the lower torso apart. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...dpoolHips8.jpg Now I could carve a bit on the inside to make room for the top of the T bar. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...dpoolHips9.jpg Glued the torso back together. My screw driver left a tiny seem gap, so I used green stuff to fill it in. Luckily Deadpool has black there, so I won't have to worry as much about paint matching. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...poolHips10.jpg I could be done now, just paint the pouches on the scarlet spider's ankles... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...poolHips11.jpg But instead I boil and popped the knees off and added Deadpool's original lower legs. This got him closer in height to his counterpart. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...poolHips12.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...poolHips13.jpg |
This is great! Thanks for sharing this. I might have to give this a try. That Deadpool came out great!

Awesome tutorial! Looks like a lot of fun work. I haven't split a torso in forever. I have boiled and popped recently thought. :D

I really want to do that but I'm kinda scared... I've yet to be able to safely dismantle any movie line figures at all.

that's fantastic. i just repainted and modded the scarlett spider to look like deadpool and called it a night, but this works very well too. great tutorial.
