Another Store Rant - Target
So I recently picked up another Star Wars LEGO set to put together, and decided to return it because I didn't want to invest too much cash into LEGOs because they are really expensive. Anyway, I get to the store, and the old lady working the return desk starts to ring up the item for return, then stops, and takes out a box cutter. She cuts open the box and low and behold the damn thing is filled with miscellaneous junk (cardboard, a book... etc.). She says I can't return it, and I quickly tell her to get a manager because I just ended up with an $80 empty box. So the manager comes over and gives me the same lines, saying that it was opened and stuff, so I explain that I've never opened it and I want my money back. They treat me like shit, say I need to take it the the exact Target I bought it from, so I do. On the way there I call up the store and explain what happened, and of course they say to bring it in and they'll return it. I get there, and they tell me there is no way they can return it because it has been opened. I start to get even more pissed off and tell them that the lady at the other store opened it, and they argue with me that they would never do that. So guess what? I ended up screwed over with an empty box that cost me almost $80. I contacted LEGO to see if they'll replace it for me, but I'm going to keep filing complaints against Target for treating me like shit and screwing me over. Fuck Target.

were you the one who put the miscellaneous junk in the box? If the box was never opened why was there no legos in it?
|
There should also be security cams at customer service to watch their employees I would guess. Tell them this bitch did it, watch the camera, give you your money and free shit.

If any of my stores in my area did that, I would take a shit in their store and leave calmly. That kind of customer service pisses me all to all hell and back, then back to hell.

I hope everything works out for you in the end dude. I kind of want something like this to happen to me for I can do something extremely stupid, and have a reason to :P. I haven't shaved for like a month... I need to take a picture of my beard...

Wait...hold on now.
The people at Target are not the villians here- that's the asshat that swapped the Legos for junk. We've all seen stuff like the classic "Cantina Swap" move and lamented at how the customer service people could be so damn dumb as to fall for that....but this lady had likely seen it before, suspecteds omething fishy and caught it. And, sad to say, you look like a scumbag. You're not one, obviously, but they dont know that. Everthing you did is exactlyw hat some swapper would have done- that they looked fora swap at all shows that they've been had many times. If I was in their position (and I have been) I'd never accpt that return- my job's policy is simple: If we cant resell it, we dont accept it as a return. Ever. For boxed stuff- all of us- need to be extra careful. Examine the box for re-taping and sorta shake the box to see if the weight is right and contents are not moving around in the box. If it's suspicous, have the store's customer Service Desk open it in the store- otherwise you might get hosed too! Sorry that you got ripped off, man. |

WOW! That fucking sucks. That is some piss poor luck, my friend. What are the odds that out of all the LEGO sets you had to pick up the repack. SUCKS! But I have to agree with Jason Abbadon, from the store's perspective you're the repacker. But for that lady to actually cut the box open? Don't they usually inspect it to see if has been opened or tampered with? Did you ever examine the box prior or notice that it looked like it had been messed with? I know on something like a box of LEGOs you don't think about that. I guess that's why some jerkoff did that.
That really sucks man. I definitely feel you're pain and I'd be pissed as shit. |
I should have looked at it closer when I bought it but I was hanging out with my little sister and didn't really think about it. We were playing with a display for the LEGO alien abduction line, and I just grabbed the Star Wars ship and tucked it under my arm. It was an impulse buy, and I guess I learned a very expensive lesson. For the rest of you, just take this information as a cautionary tale, because it does happen.
|
^ Damn. Very expensive impulse buy. I was checking out those alien abduction sets on Sunday and was soooooooooo close to buying one. Especially with the whole Bricktober sale going on. I almost got sucked into it :)

It's a sign of the times.......usually it's at this point I'd say just stop going to Target.....[my aunt bought a bookcase and when it was put together it collapsed and buckled and she couldn't get her money back cause that it was opened and it was a rather expensive bookcase too] but still I have found that I avoid buying stuff from Target as of late when I go out -unless it's an action figure on the pegs if I'm out which is fairly rare-

Curious, Jason and Ludo. How could it of been returned anyways if they think it has been "opened". I think the pissed off part of the story is that customer service hag opened it and ruined any chance of returning it. Remember, it had to been returned for this to even happen in the first place.

Man this sucks to hear! Hope you can get everything straightened out.

place yourself in her shoes- someone is swapping toys and you're getting legit customers that go home, give Legos to their kids and "Happy Birthday, Timmy!" you get a load of crap! So they look for people returning Legos- see a DFD (that shady character) come in with a box that must have somehow looked fishy (since it was obviously opened at some point before our Arker pal got it) and she checks the contents only to find a bunch of crap. She was pretty reserved not to put blame on Doggie- though you can bet her impression of him is "I BUSTED that creep!" She's probabably told all the other employees about DFD by now- as in "You wont believe this asshole I had to deal with tonight!";) I agree with the other poster that said to go to the corperate level- that's the best bet for resolution in your favor. That manager HAS to stick to his guns or look like a spineless ass in front of his employee...and it's not like Target is the best job in the world to begin with. And Customer service has to be the worst part of the store to possibly be assigned to. They spend all day dealing with scammers. |

Yeah- as someone that's returned figures to Target (swapped for others) they were really cool with it at my local store.
It sure would suck to get a box full of cardboard crap instead of Legos if you were a little kid- and things being how they are, most parents cant afford to buy more. Makes that swapper even more of an ass- that it could have hosed some little kid. |
