I had no idea he was going to be Jor El. I have to see him in action before I make judgement

Im going in to this film with low expectations....VERY low expectations. With that said. That is some pretty cool news.

He has a look on his face like, "son of a bitch, the director is going to kick my ass for being photographed in this suit". haha

I'll wait to see the suit in action. It looks odd...very leathery like.

I was hoping they would of done something with hair or facial hair to suit more the suit.. don't know if that makes sense..

All he looks like is a plain old Russell Crowe.. nothing special..

When I first read the thread title, I swear I thought it said "Russell Brand as Jor El". Then I thought, "Are they making a comedy?"

As for Crowe being cast as Supes' dad, I'm sort of meh. I didn't care for Superman Returns at all, so I'm very leery of this new film.

And I am a big fan of Superman III. Especially the really creepy scene where Vera get turned into a cyborg by the super computer.

That scene scared the shit out of me when I was a kid.

So is this movie starting from the beginning? Why is Jor El in it?

I didn't know Crowe was in this. I think he'd have made a cool Zod, but either way, I like this move. After the pansy-fest that Superman Returns turned out to be, I think they should be adding guys who smoke, don't shave, and get in bar brawls.

I'm not sure what timeline they're going with, but even if it's not a from the beginning movie Jor El is always available via icicle in The Fort of Solitude.

Gave me the chills for a week. And it was a really odd moment compared to the rest of the film, now that I think about it. Up to that point, most of it was corny Bond-villain nonsense (Robert Vaughn & co.), intentional comedy (thank you Richard Pryor, RIP) and unintentional comedy (drunk Supes).

Then you suddenly have this sci-fi horror moment. And those eyes....

According to IMDB, Man of Steel takes place sometime before Clark/Kal-El decides to become a superhero, but after he's already an adult and working as a reporter for the Daily Planet.

Agreed. I loved all three of the first superman films.

I'd still go see it in a heart beat, maybe even dress up and do a midnight premier! Well maybe not dress up, just wear one of my many Superman shirts. YAY.
