Heroclix

Hey everyone. I was just wondering if anyone else played this tabletop mini game. I always have found it very fun and have played for years but gotten back in to it just recently after falling out.

I used to but after having a whole stash, and doing nothing with them, I sold em' at a yard sale.
Though I did know a guy who had a whole damned bin full of em' even had the exclusives, a HUGE bin too, with dc and marvel, was really cool.

Yeah I was out of it for a looooooong time. I never got rid of em though and now I am back in to them. I kinda find them to be like those little anime figures they make for collectors but for comic book fans. Im working on my JSA team right now but will work on the X-men likely next.

I worked almost all the Wizkids conventions from 2003-2005 and I've got a complete run of the DC/Marvel/Indy line up including LE's until the end of the Topps run. The only thing I'm missing is a couple of the Purple ring promo tourney LE's. I really wanted to get back into it when NECA took over, but I've just never got back into it.

My roommmate collects most of them from both DC and Marvel- skipping idioicy like Killer Moth or Porcupine.

Some of them are fantastic for cutting the clear parts off for MU accessories- Shaman in particular is dirt cheap and has these blue electricity things all around him.
Electro too!

Techno has backpack jet clear orange things that cutoff for perfect MU scale muzzle flash.
I've got a small sentinel that I plan on chopping the head off of and sticking it on a Real Steel Zues figure for a specialized Sentinel custom...

Anyone else thought of doing this with Heroclix?

Oh, and ant Man is perfect for MU- a much more dynamic pose and detail than MU has- repaints nicely into the Eric O'Grady Secret Warriors version!

Fortune 10-06-2011 01:10 AM

lol using them for MU add ons is on not a bad idea. I have thought of using the ant man and wasp but thats about it. I actually play so cutting them up is a bit of a no no for me

Jason Abbadon 10-06-2011 01:17 AM

They're dirt cheap generally- I would not chop up some limited edition or anything!
The MU Galactus looks awesome looming over my roomie's assembled Secret Wars cast of Heroclix- very true to the comic, scalewise!

So are Star Wars and GI Joe figures. But like those lines there are quite a few figures that go for a lot of money too.

Yeah trust me I know. Im considering dropping 20$ on a heroclix piece. Some of the giant pieces go for much higher. Heck some of the tiny pieces are well over 100$

thechris 10-07-2011 11:45 AM

I collected and played. I still have complete sets of the first 5 DC and Marvel sets. :)

Fortune 10-07-2011 02:18 PM

Oh wow thats hella cool. I thus far dont have any complete sets but then again I dont think Ive tried to complete any yet lol

Hypertime was one of my favourite sets. I only played with friends and we played it differently from the rules. You're apparently supposed to play for a set number of rounds or like an hour and whoever gets the most points from kills wins, but we played death matches where we'd have 500 to 1000 point armies and played until only one person still had characters left and was declared the winner. We also decided that you could only choose good or bad, not both. LOL.

Me and my bro normally play 1000 points and it ends when you KO all the other guys peices. Sometimes we make up zany rules like 800 points with no one over 100

he's kinda odd about that- when he scores a super rare fig or whatever, he'll trade it for a ton of characters he actually loves.
Which makes sense to me- and he's got teams, man! A pastic case for each and every team ever from DC or Marvel! he's also the king of "Army Builders"- tons of Gotham Cops, SHIELD and HYDRA goons...you name it.

As I said- that new Sentinel (any version) makes for perfect MU scale parts- any terminator or real steel toy could become a cool smallish (6-9") Sentinel!

WHAT WE NEED for MU is the kind of great "objects set" Heroclix made- lampposts, mailboxes, dumpsters, etc. to really sell the scale! That lamp post in MU scale would be incredible for instance.
