Marvel: What if There Wasn't Only One?

http://x.annihil.us/u/prod/marvel/i/...f29/detail.jpg

Teaser image of what, I think, the next world event in Marvel in 2012. I have no idea what this could be all about. Anyone have any ideas?

thechris 10-07-2011 12:42 PM

LOL, oh no. Looks like another multi-verse cross-over. A planet where Captain America is a communist perhaps? Or they could be doing a Power Rangers like Captain American squad with a bunch of Caps with different colour combinations. :p

miketime 10-07-2011 12:54 PM

Bring on the Cold War. I loved the Red Sun Superman story. A good ol fashoned Comrad Rogers story about fasism butting heads with communism. Nastrovia!

thechris 10-07-2011 03:39 PM

They have a Red Rogers and his name is Red Guardian. :p

roshan 10-07-2011 03:41 PM

As long as there's no zombies, i'll deal with it.

Do Boy 10-07-2011 03:42 PM

Something with Captain America.

What if there wasn't only one Winter Soldier.

Exactly- this is what Burbaker had set up with the whole gulag story- that Bucky would stop being Cap because he needs to go after the other Winter Soldiers and put them down- and Captain America cant be about killing (someone tell Ellis that! Steve is killing like crazy in Secret Avengers!).

So they faked his death with the old "Alpha level LMD" gag- a LMD that can fool even Wolverine and Daredevil and thinks it's the real person.

So Sin killed a LMD, Nick Fury was behind it and that's what leads to Steve punching Nick in the face (Spencer joked about this "epic" moment in an interview with CBR).
Nick hooks Bucky up to go after the other Winter Soldiers without dragging anyone else into it.

That's what I've pieced together from the hints and interviews so far.

That will be an easy story to fallow. Honestly I forgot about the Gulag issues! I really enjoyed him has Captain America though, maybe he will go back? Anyways, well done guys! Glad to know Bucky isn't dead too, thank Jesus. I guess thats LMDs are so damn real, that even Marvel Wiki thinks he is dead! Hahahahaha....I thought it was funny.

Darkspeed 10-08-2011 09:51 AM

Think it's obvious that this is to do with Cap... Maybe something about the Super Soldier serum, and what if it wasn't just Rogers who got a dose of it?

CLASSIFIED 10-08-2011 03:04 PM

I never thought Bucky was dead.

It was just too damn important to Black Widow to kill that story about him not being dead.

Hopefully Nick will give Bucky the USAgent monicker, because Walker certainly doesn't need it anymore.

That would be cool and make sense, not sure we can count on it happening, but I would love to be wrong even though I still believe Bucky should never have come back at all...cool stories with him in it though

Jason Abbadon 10-08-2011 03:36 PM

I'm hoping Nick Fury plays an ongoing role in the inevitible series!
It ooks like (in the Fear Itself aftermatch) that Daisy's new SHIELD organization is getting some spotlight!
Any check that makes Wolverine cringe with fear and anger is perfect to lead a new SHIELD!

DogFashionDisco 10-08-2011 03:40 PM

Damnit, after reading all of these comments I'm probably going to pick that up when it hits. You bastards...haha

New Series Revealed in Fear Itself #7.1 - Comics News at IGN

Case closed. And I couldn't be happier! Bucky has quickly become one of my favorite comic book characters over the past 3 years.

Score, rather upset he wasn't Captain America for to long though. I like previous posts of him becoming the new US Agent, that would be more than amazing.

Wtf is with these characters continually dying and coming back right after they die. Doesn't that kinda defeat the purpose of a death story line?

I agree, but from previous comments, it was suppose to be one of Nick Furys LMDS or whatever, making it so real, that it can fool even Wolverine and Daredevil. Kind of silly to kill him off just to say "nope". It was like with Human Torch, he is coming back, so I hear, and it pisses me off.

I know :/ its one of the many reasons I have just fallen out of comics as of late.

Exodus 11-03-2011 07:04 PM

You think Phoenix is coming back by looking at the end of Fear Itself?

LMD's in general need to go away. Cheap resurrection tactic and poor story telling. I gave them a pass with Secret Invasion, because it was done really well. But starting with Chaos War, I've had about enough.

Tiberius 11-03-2011 07:07 PM

I skipped Chaos war, just didn't like it...

LXL_Guy 11-03-2011 07:31 PM

As cool as it is that the next story if Bucky centric, Marvel has yet to win me back. Otherwise cool that he didn't bite the bullet or whatever.

Darkspeed 11-13-2011 07:14 AM

I'm actually disappointed by this... Bucky being offed in Fear Itself was such a blow, but they aren't even gonna wait a while before bringing him back? As good as his own series might be, I don;t think I'll be giving it a read.

When they make a miniseries supposedly so "epic" and stick a terrible artist on it, you know that no lasting impact will come of it- and it had the ovbious Reset Button ending.

Fear Itself set a bad precedent in that it used a pretty great artist for a long dragged out anticlimatic crapfest where we all said "BUCKY'S NOT REALLY DEAD!" when he "died".
