Distance

What's the farthest anyone has driven or would drive to go toy hunting? Excluding conventions of course!! :p I'm thinking about going to Texarkana tomorrow to check out their stores and such and a few along the way which is a 1 1/2 hour drive up there.

vampireheart 10-14-2011 06:18 PM

I applaud your journey good sir, the farthest ive driven was an hour away, but thats because one of the best LCS is that far away, comics and figures galore oh my.

Do Boy 10-14-2011 06:18 PM

I drive an average of about 50 miles away from my house.

KingLouie731 10-14-2011 06:31 PM

45 minutes one way is the longest I would/have driven and may make a run tomorrow as the wife has asked for a treat you can only get at this spot so I have the go ahead signal. hoping to find Darkhawk and any revision characters I want and havent found

tgbobafett 10-14-2011 07:08 PM

I go up there once a week on my route and don't have time to go looking and the local hangouts are getting kinda old nowadays heh

BlackMagnus 10-14-2011 07:09 PM

35 miles one direction for Masterpiece Grimlock, I'm glad I did too, it was the only time I've ever seen him in person.

CLASSIFIED 10-14-2011 07:33 PM

1 hour sounds about right.

I drove about 4 hours today to go to NYCC, and I'm at the hotel right now, but you said conventions don't count.

Fortune 10-14-2011 07:37 PM

I drive about 45-60 minutes almost every week to the worlds best LCS.

omega145 10-14-2011 07:44 PM

Ill drive an hour or so away, 45-60 miles, rarely. Usually to check out the comic shops in NYC. I usually try to stay in a 15 mile radius when doing normal hunts.
I drive up to Boston every month to 2 months and usually go toy hunting while im on the way there and/or back and thats about 160-180 miles and a 3-4 hour drive depending on traffic.

Dagger 10-14-2011 07:50 PM

1 1/2 hours to go to farmer's markets maybe 2 hours. Since the only reason I go to farmer's markets is for toy hunting.

tlasjr 10-14-2011 08:02 PM

NYC from just north of Boston, much like Classified, but without the convenation. I had a trip set for a Ross/Waffle house run last year but the wifes unemployment ran out and my vacation fund got drained.

I'm not from Boston, I'm from Parts Unknown.;)

tgbobafett 10-15-2011 06:47 AM

Well I might just go today, not like i'm gonna do it every weekend ya know! Heh

jamesmruddy 10-15-2011 08:26 AM

The best stores to hunt in are an hour to an hour and a half away for me. The one's that are 20 minutes away carry nothing.

tlasjr 10-15-2011 10:49 AM

I have several normal runs based on the local interstates. My rt 93 north run goes from peabody to woburn MA to salem NH. My current favorite is the 95 north run, from peabody, to Portsmouth NH. Theres 3 Walmarts a target 2 kmarts and a tru that no one hunts at. usually I go about 150-200 miles round trip.

vampireheart 10-15-2011 11:22 AM

sometimes those long drives for the hunt are fun...but not when you come up empty handed with an empty tank of gas :/

That is just crazy, how often do you make a trip like that?

tgbobafett 10-15-2011 04:33 PM

So after about 200 miles altogether all I could find today was these haha oh well now I know not to make this trip again ;P

Vandal Savage 10-17-2011 09:15 AM

Other than a WalMart about 20 minutes away, my usual trip is 60-75 miles for any decent trip. I travel to dog shows every couple of months, so I usually plan ahead for these. Last one was almost 400 miles one way.

quipp209 10-17-2011 09:38 AM

Once I had driven about a hour n a half away then I hit every single store on the way back it took me 8 hound to get home lol but o did find two frost giants a bill foster wave 13 I also found a butt load of dc figures so it was well worth the journey plus it was fun

Do Boy 10-17-2011 09:50 AM
