The M3T4L V1KING's Personal Problem
 

Yup. The M3T4L V1KING has a personal, action figure related, issue. As many of you may know, Tiberius and I went to a Toyfair on Sunday and we got a huge haul (mine was superior to his in my opinion... but he did get Swamp-Thing so that's cool too) and I got a decent amount of ML figures. The 2 worth mentioning would be the Iron Man vs Mandarin Face Off 2 pack and the Series 6 Phoenix. I was planning on keeping Iron Man & Mandarin in package but Mandarin had a disgusting amount of dust on it so I HAD to open it up to give it a clean. So that leave Phoenix, I have no idea if it should be opened or not. Now it may seem obvious, 'If you're a MOC collector, don't open it. If you're not a MOC collector, open it.' But it's not that easy, so here's a few facts.

A. It's a rare figure, not horribly rare like its Dark Phoenix variant, but still pretty damn rare.

B. I am NOT a MOC collector. The only stuff I keep on MOC are things I want to trade or convention stuff (Even then, I may open it, like the MU Jim Hammond figure)

C. Marvel Legends are being released in 2012, and we're getting a few figures that were part of the 2 pack poll back in 2009. So far we're getting Constrictor and Fantomex, both characters part of the poll. And a white costumed Phoenix was part of the poll, so it could possibly be made in the future.

Hmmm be for I say too much let me put it too you like this. Leaving it sealed is tearing you apart to the point you need outside help. If you open it then the choice is done and the ordeal is over. Having all this... stryfe in your life behind this decision really should give you at least some hint.

Honestly, I think that Phoenix figure isn't that great. But then again, the ToyBiz female figures are all pretty ugly IMO. The Hasbro one they showed looks a lot nicer, again IMO. If they make that figure, would you buy it? And would you consider selling the one you currently have? Obviously, you'll get more MOC. But then again that base she comes with is pretty awesome and works perfectly with the MU Phoenix. I know I'm playing devil's advocate here.

Thanks for the input guys! I decided to add a poll just to make some peoples lives (mine included) a little easier. I guess it's 2 for yes so far.

Hey Im not saying TOO open it Im not saying to NOT open it. Im just sayin. Nuff said... have you tried flipping a coin? Lets say heads open and tails leave closed. Lets say it comes up heads and your like eehhhhhh Iono then you know in your heart pick the other.

Open it. If you're not a MOC collector, what's the point keeping is MOC? At some point in your life you MIGHT be able to turn it into a $10-$20 profit? ..not worth it, I'd open it and enjoy.

Exactly what he said. I'm not sure why I see so many of these threads. Opening up a toy shouldn't be that hard of a decision that cant be made in a matter of minutes in our own minds.

I say open her up... I tried keeping some of my collection in their packaging, but it's like you pay $$$'s for packaging, without being able to appreciate it. take it out and enjoy the experience of owning it!

Open it and enjoy the accessory she comes with and use it for your MU Phoenix.

My X-Force Archangel is out of package, theyre just toys, make the most of it by preeing those figures from there plastic prison cells!! Then take pics, lots and lots of pics :)

I agree with ludovicotek. Phoenix really isn't a terribly great figure.
And the Phoenix firebird that's suppossed to hold her, can't, unless you attach it to the wall.
If you're worried about missing out on something great by leaving her in package, you're honestly not.

Buy a second one off me and that way you can have both ;)

Also you said something about it being possible that they will release a new one. Thats true but if they do even the MOC one will drop in price. People wont be as interisted

Open it. I'm pretty sure if Hasbro does a Phoenix it won't come with the flaming bird. (is that what it's called?):D
You can atleast use the bird on any future Phoenix releases.

Poll seems to be aiming at opening it. Are you ?

I've got the poll to automatically close after 2 days, and day one ends at... 10:00 PM Pacific or something. So I'll make the final decision at the end of day 2, but by the looks of it, I'm going to open it up.

Would you actually make your decision based on that poll and other peoples opinions?

Yup. I can't make up my mind on my own so I listen to other peoples opinions.
