Galactus/Sentinel in package question

Guys,

I have both SDCC Blister cards and I REALLY don't want to open them. Due to the batteries in them, will I eventually have to remove them from their packaging?

Fortune 10-20-2011 11:25 AM

Wow never considered that.....I mean I guess you would have to if you didnt want the electronics destroyed :/

Prem1x 10-20-2011 11:27 AM

There are batteries in them obviously. I'm not worried about them.

Reaver Strike 10-20-2011 11:48 AM

I have some Toybiz X-Men figures from the '90's that still have the original batteries and they still work.

name 10-20-2011 12:06 PM

you could always cut a small door in the back of the card if you really needed to replace them...though it would ruin the card to a degree =/

its still better then having the whole card off.

miketime 10-20-2011 12:26 PM

I wouldn't worry about it. Are you worried about corrosion or having it just not work? Eather way I think you should keep them on thwere huge blister card.

Corrosion's what I'm worried about.

If thats what your worried about then you should be fine. I have actually never had that realisticly happen.

Cujo 10-20-2011 12:50 PM

Ok, just making sure; thanks. These are too sweet to open, that's for sure...

Typical batteries will corrode in place given enough time and a constant connection. I've seen it happen in as little as a year inside Halloween decorations and such. You'll want to minimize the humidity the toy is stored in as much as possible. Also, if the battery type is atypical, (not double A's, etc.), you're probably in better shape since the coatings on hearing aid and camera batteries are much thicker.

You could try not pressing the button to much :)

Is that possible??

Every time I walk by them I have to press it! And then I start talking back to them.. and then keep pressing it for their responses.. then we go into debates and long drawn out conversations. Before I know it I'm doing shots with Galactus and end up the next morning next to him and he's missing his blister card and smoking a cig. This is pretty common right..?

As long as it was consensual.

They will corrode, this is a very good point, but honestly the zombie apocalypse will be here first.

No, the crazy guy that has predicted the end of the world multiple times actually has another date predicted for today. So BUY EVERYTHING YOU CAN TODAY! Because no one will be here tomorrow.

I've only seen double A batteries leak & corrode in toys that were 20 + years old like TF Shockwave. I would not worry about the watch style batteries.

Blood 10-22-2011 06:28 AM

well, that's why I like my masterwork galactus, I can just open the box and take off the batteries

Yeah all the batteries I've had trouble (trouble as in destroying my things, flashlights and such) with are AA's or AAA's. I think the small batteries (I'm assuming that's what Sentinel and Galactus use) won't be much of an issue.

behindthemask 10-22-2011 10:57 AM

Anything that has batteries for a light up feature etc... I remove /turn off the feature to prevent any battery acid leaking/damaging the figure. I believe it is only watch batteries inside these guys, so the casings on them are 4 times thicker. All a AA battery is, a grouping of smaller watch batteries inside surrounded by a small amount of battery fluid which is then wrapped in a sheet of microthin metal to wrap it all, typically the outside housing wears away which leaks out the acid, which turns the item's electronics green and typically non functional,.... happened to a nerf gun I had. but not 2 much in the lines of toys.

vampireheart 10-22-2011 12:22 PM

I have a Spawn Malbolgea (the big talking one from the movie) that i won on ebay MISB for super cheap I think $8 shipped and the sound didnt work, I was bummed so i checked the batteries and sure enough they were destroyed, however i took a moist towel and cleaned it out, let it dry for a bit, put new batteries in and voilĂ* there you have it a working talking Malbolgea!
