Canadian MOC Collectors Question

For those of you who are both Canadian and MOC Collectors, (which I'm not actually sure exist), do you have mixed collections of the dual-language Canadian packaging, or do you only stick to one or the other?

I've heard the packaging is different, and saw a Canadian dual-language package today, but never before thought about having these mixed in my English-only collection...

Tiberius 10-31-2011 08:59 PM

Oh they are a bit more than duel. 4 Languages to be exact. Lol.

Lol, I guess I need to update the poll! So French, English, and what are the other two? Does the packaging have different combinations of languages too?

name 10-31-2011 09:04 PM

i collect both...i tend to use the international releases for my opened figures. since my only option around here was to order sealed factory boxes if i wanted the newest waves.

so, my moc are us and my opened figures are Canadian retail. i never planed it but it ended up working out this way

Peteparker 10-31-2011 09:05 PM

I'm starting to think about collecting the multi-language packaging as 'variants', but I'm not sure I want to make myself that crazy.

behindthemask 10-31-2011 09:10 PM

I don't read the package language laws, If I used that logic I'd never buy anything lol. If it's a figure I need I open it so the package is merely a vessle inwhich my prize travels, from it's long journey from China to Canada. lol :) If it's rare it's kept moc, if it's not it's opened immediatley. lol my logic, more often then not I end up opening the stuff anyways :P

behindthemask 10-31-2011 09:10 PM

it's because of the added language laws that messes up distribution and wave delays.

ive noticed the latest waves have been packaged differently then before. now there is NO international marking on the outside (just the age recommendation) or text bio. its all on a insert packaged behind the stand.

i cant remeber if they where ever like this, but i found it odd. its been awhile since i got anything on retail that i was like "wtf is this?!?" when the folded up paper fell out

Tiberius 10-31-2011 10:13 PM

Honestly though, Thanks to the Ark, it doesn't matter anymore lol. I was so happy to see Galactus [variant at that] at TRU today. *puts on X-mas list to santa". For MU though, if you are putting your MOC figures on the wall or something, from the front they don't look any different from American packaging.

roadrevenge 10-31-2011 10:27 PM

All my MOC are US packaging only because I get them from a local store that orders them from the US. I do have a couple of the earlier waves with the multi-language package only beacuse I wasn't ordering online. By chance I find a MU here in Montreal at retail that I need or can't find at the store I shop at, I will pick up regardless of the TRI-language on the package (English, French, Spanish).

For example the famous Shocker from the Spiderman 3.75" line, you cannot get that package just in english.

As Tiberius said, if you keep them MOC and have them all on the wall you can't notice what ones are multi language enless you really look.

I find the main difference in US packaging and Canadian packaging is the back of the card. If you look at transformers, the US package shows a beautiful picture of the figure with stats then what else is available at the bottom. The canadian package has the back of the card full of some figures from the same series.

Does anyone find the concept of a fat guy breaking into homes, eating our food, then leaving behind gifts as deeply disturbing as I do?

Toyark is a great resource for trading and selling, but lately anyone who has asked me for stuff has expected me to practically give my stuff away. I don't want to sound cheap, but I didn't just magically acquire my figures. Anyway, the guys on here are good people, and its cool to have a place to bullshit with other nerds.

That's why I like to trade whenever possible. It feels like you're losing less when you don't put monetary numbers to anything.

I bought a case of japanese/german power of the force figures from a macfrugals when I was a kid. Sadly they have been lost...

To this day, I still completely wished Quebec separated from Canada....so close it was literally hairline results back in the 1995 referendum. And so it is today, that we've continued to have garbage, cluttered, various languages on all consumer products...

It's annoyed and bothered me so much that I've often avoided buying local and bought from US sellers just so I don't have to own fugly Canadian sub-standard packaging.

Well we do leave the food out specifically for him. So it's kind of an invitation to have a snack.

Although I agree they should be separated, multi-lingual packaging is a pretty sad reason for wanting them to split.

not only that reason man. They're a bunch of snobs with their francais....

1995 referendum stats: 49.42% "Yes" to 50.58% "No"

Yeah but would an independent Quebec mean an end to Canada's existing bilingual laws? That we still don't know for sure.

Probably, it would make little to no sense to keep it. Sure, have French as a second language, like Spanish is in America.

I can just see what remaining French-Canadian expats living in the other provinces trying to make a civil rights issue out of it. Don't forget, these are the people who want to separate from us but still use our currency.

You know, your right, there is no victory. We lose a big chunk of Canada, and aren't the 2nd biggest country anymore. I just don't like how the rest of Canada has to pay for the bi-lingual laws. Sure it is 2 dollars, but with 12% tax, it is 11.11 to buy a damn figure AT RETAIL.

I'd be happy with them staying but having to pay for the dual language packaging themselves or agree to do away with it entirely. Or you know, we could get the default English printed packaging and they get French only packaging when available. Heck, it's Quebec, they should be used to being excluded by now since they don't qualify for a huge percentage of our country's many contests.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWNED. I kind of feel bad, but having English and then French packaging is a good idea, bets bi lingual messiness.

It just seems silly since it really doesn't make any difference to them financially if we opt out of getting "specially printed packaging" for the rest of Canada. It just seems like Quebecers just want to see their fancy language on things when they go on a roadtrip to visit cousin Rick in Ontario.
