The Marvel Universe bigger picture.
 

I was just thinking about how much I have actually learned about the MU from collecting this line,now I know most of you prolly knew alot about different characters before the line but I myself mainly collected Doom stuff so I had only a small number of characters I knew such as the givens ie spiderman,ironman and the like,so has collecting this line opened up a door to an even bigger picture of the MU for you as well?

Yes! The cosmic mu was background noise to me. So many side characters that I knew nothing about and then a handful of ones I loved already. I have gotten more in depth with the MU as a whole from these figures. I've picked up more random comics and went back and read amazing arcs I missed too. The toyline actually did help me grow as a Marvel fan. :)

Oh yeah. I've always been more of a main stream comic fan, so half the MU characters out there I didn't know a thing about until their figs were made. Some I might have only read the little bio on their cards, but most I've at least read their entire Wikipedia or Marvel Wikia,.. definitely made me a bigger Marvel fan.

I was main stream too but a good majority of the figures involve either X-men or Avengers and their enemies. There are a few character I hadn't seen to the MU figure line do educate you on figures that aren't featured.

Hi yall. I was definately already deeply involved as an X-men/Marvel fan when this line started coming out but as I've kept collecting I keep buying doubles of some characters or characters I'm not particularly interested in so I started passing them on to my friend's kid and now he is a huge superhero fan. He's become a rabid Fantastic Four fan and even finally picked up reading just to read some of the books I them gave him :)

I've learned a lot about the depth and breadth of the Marvel rogues' gallery, particularly non-mutants. Good shit!

I know about most characters but even those that I'm not too familiar with ill search online for more information when normally I wouldn't have thought twice about them.
Makes me want to get that Marvel A-Z encyclopaedia again.

Knew all of the X-Team characters, and the rest I knew their background, but awesome to seem them as figures. Basically a plastic version of the paper version we all love. Started with only Uncanny X-Force, than branched out to others regarding the MU line.

I've been reading a lot more Power Man & Iron Fist since reading my first from the comic pack.

I was aware of most of the x-men universe, along with spiderman and his universe, also Iron man, and the main guys like blade, bullseye,dardevil, etc,but a lot of the others I wasn't as aware of examples would be multiple man, union jack, captain britain, guadians of the galaxy, xforce . MU figures show me awesome character designs which makes me want to know on the character's origins, thank you wikipedia lol.

i've been reading comics since i was a kid but it's really awesome to get a lot of these characters in a scale i enjoy more, i've also been an avid joe collector for years and really enjoy the symetry my collection has now

I've become aware of some characters that I hadn't before. I didn't really know about Darkhawk but bought the figure.

i been reading comics actively since 2003. seeing those same characters in 3-d and actually having a very strong resemblance is what got me into this line.

In my younger collector days, I was more into the obscure stuff. Not to say that I wasn't into mainstream stuff. I was collecting Spider-man comics and whatnot but I was intrigued by the obscure characters that weren't featured in newer comic titles. There was this comic book shop that my grandma would bring me to that had really old comics hanging on the wall and tons of comics in the long boxes and I'd do what I could to find stuff with MODOK, Ka-Zar, Man-Thing, the Wrecking Crew, Solo, Guardsman and the Frightful Four. Also John Buscema, Sal Buscema and Jack Kirby's artwork really stood out for me. I loved the Spectacular Spider-man's blocky look as rendered by Sal.

The weirder and more obscure the character, the more I wanted to find out about it. I remember the Marvel Universe Handbooks were around $2 to $3 dollars and I was only allowed two to 3 $1 comics usually so sometimes I'd get the one Handbook instead. I also loved the Marvel Age books for their articles and comic strips. There was also another one that had condensed versions of milestone moments in Marvel comics which I enjoyed. Don't get the wrong idea, though. I wasn't born in the 60s. My first memorable comic was actually a magazine that I think I still have today. It was printed standard comic book size and was basically a preview mag for DC comics coming out that month that my sister picked up for free at the very same comic book shop my grandma ended up taking me to. It had Azrael Batman on the cover and one of the comics it was previewing had Bruce Wayne in a wheelchair with some other guys. I believe this was during the whole Knightfall thing. On the reverse side was the scary Vertigo stuff.

Anywho, always loved the expanded Marvel universe even as a child. Maybe even more so as a child than I do now.

Ever since I got an ipad, I started getting back into comics. Before that, I bought some, and downloaded some, but now, it's like the comic world is at my fingertips.

I've been the head administrator at the Marvel Database since late 2007, where we focus on having profiles of the most obscure characters, so I know all of the characters long before the figures come out.

That being said, the entire reason I like the Marvel Universe line is because each figure is very accurate to the character, especially in the newest lines. It kind of feels like I get to own the characters I've been reading about for 15 years now, rather than just peek in on their lives. :)

All I knew about Marvel was the movies. And MU have helped.

As a kid I'd sit down with the old official handbooks and read every entry over and over, so I guess you'd say that I don't get too surprised by the offerings. I do still love to see the new sets it takes me back to my childhood. Hopefully one day we can recreate this poster, it's one of my favorites I had as a kid.

Those are the handbooks that I want and I've been looking around for that poster for cheaper than 30-50 as that's the price range I see. Midtown comics in NYC has that hanging up on the wall right before you walk into the entrance to the store. I love that poster!

this poster. theres a sports bar near me thats had this on their wall framed for the last 20 years. Its a sports themed resturaunt that my parents took me too since i was like 10. The poster is worth around $100......for the print. I will find a way to own this one day, it has more or less incredible sentimental value to me.

I was looking this over, think I can name about 80% of the characters.
It is my hope someday to make a modern version of this long picture with marvel universe action figures.

ive always hated those handbooks cause they get outdated within a month of publication.

I've become a big fan of his recently. Before my MU collecting days I had heard of him, and knew a little, but MU got me reading some of his stuff. Love it.
