X-Titles coming months...

Looks like AOA is getting they're own book, good thing it's only 3.00.
Looks pretty good too.
Also looks like Megan is back in Uncanny X-Force.

Jason Abbadon 12-13-2011 11:48 AM

How is Greg Land still employed?

Ah ok my apologies, thanks for the heads up. This should look real good than.

I gotta say for X-23 and Daken, Marvel's really got their wires crossed.

Daken's entire story is going to feel anti-climatic without him facing off against Bucky who killed his mother. Instead he gets to go to issue 23 and do another story with him and wolverine that everyone is tired of.

X-23's story is going to end with her choosing to go to the avengers academy and telling all the X-titles to bug off as it were. Ending her title on issue 21... With her title selling better than Daken though, the smart move would be to give her 23 issues. Which would be just one more if they re-numbered accounting for the one shot. Then that issue they could do as an oversized special with backup stories to really amp the readership up.

Oh well, here's hoping they do something smart for once when her ten year anniversary gets here in 2013.

Everything else I'm rather meh on with the X-titles. I'm starting to get worn out by what Marvel calls good stories.

Looks like after that month I can start dropping X-Titles, and switch to just astonishing and avengers academy. Might check out avengers with the new writer. Bendis felt like he was starting to phone in his Avengers work.

No love for photorealism?

LXL_Guy 12-13-2011 01:32 PM

Definite pass. Then again haven't really picked up an X title in a long while.

More photo theft and re-useing each face a hundred times- that same Storm on the cover has been Sue Richards and a dozen others.

Fuck, the guy can afford some new magazines to scan already! That Storm looks like his patented "Sandra Bullock"
http://jimsmashextended.blogspot.com...recycling.html
Then he re-uses his stuff over and over...and even steals other artist's work.

Oh I know, I've seen em all. Still though, I prefer stolen photorealistic art to anything Joe Madureira or Liefeld put out, but to each his own

Jason Abbadon 12-13-2011 03:02 PM

Well..I vote with my wallet there- those crap artists never get my money.
Not.
Ever.

My room-mate still buys X-Men so I read his...but it's painful at times.
I actually quit reading a comic I cold read for FREE when it was Fracton and Land on X-Men.

It was too much.

Sorry if it came off implying you liked them, just using them as examples. I'm in the minority for liking his stuff, but the number one thing for me these days that will keep me away from a series is cartoonish art. Or anything where the characters have exaggerated features.

Oh wow this is an eye opener, never realized that....although he's still better than Chris B. as an artist/drawer, Land is like the P.Diddy of Comics than, what hip hop calls remix, art is called recycle :P

Dark Archangel 12-13-2011 04:32 PM

only x-title I find myself wanting to read is Uncanny X-Force. To me, its not only the best x-title, but one of the best Marvel books out.

Yea, and now you'll be sad you know it. Once you learn that all Land's faces are taken from porn stills, that's all you'll see in his artwork after that.

Many a comic have been ruined because I was paying more attention to the weird facial expressions than the story, thanks to Mr. Land.

Of course, had I never learned about it, I would have never figured it out...

Ha ha I always did like how he drew the females, now I know how he gets his inspiration  so what actual videos do they come from ;)

Just think of it as him making custom figures.. instead he uses "bucks" to make his drawings! :)

Jason Abbadon 12-13-2011 07:56 PM

The ting 2ith Land is mostly the re-useing of the SAME five or six images over and over as different charcaters but often a woman's hair will change seveeral time in the same issue depending on ehere he's tracing from- you'll see Sue with straight hair then wavy then a shorter length...

And no one seems to look at each other- everyting is dynamic poses even if they're supposed to be sitting around talking!

I totallu agree with you guys on X-Force being Marvels #1 book- only Journey Into Mystery is as great.

Overall, I'm shocked at the poor artwork in so many of marvel's flagship titles- I mean, what kid did not want to draw X-Men growing up?
It's one of the top selling comics on the planet and they give it to Land.

And hell, try reading an iddie of New Mutants sometime-the Fear Itself issues- Sunspot looks like the Beast with a really big nose!...any indie title is better drawn that that!

I'm worried how that title will degrade when Remender leaves it.

If FI: UXF is any indication, no one but him gets why it works. They just see it as selling because it's a title of sociopaths and excuses to kill as opposed to how he dove into the dilemmas of it to the point it even made Deadpool question what they were doing. FREAKING DEADPOOL! The craziest man on the team has had the most pivotal lines to establish the quandry they're in.

This is why I think marvel needs a change though. You have some writers putting out phenominal work, and others who don't understand why it's so amazing and trying to copy it but failing miserably to do so.
