Who's Side Are You On?
http://images.wikia.com/marveldataba..._War_Fight.jpg
The Civil War event is long gone, but it honestly changed the comic book world. Some say for the better, some say for the worst. Friend fighting friend, Villains becoming heroes to the public, heroes becoming villains to the public. The Civil War was by far the best series I have read in a long time, but I am sure a lot of you will argue, and that is fine, it is why this thread is here. But my question is simple... Who's Side Are You On? Here are the rosters. Do note that people ended up changing. Example, Spider-Man was pro reg and went Anti. Falcon was Anti then went Pro, ect. http://marvel.wikia.com/Civil_War#Notable_Participants |
Anti-registration, all the way.

You can't categorize everyone and everything, because our individuality and freedom are what make us unique. That, and who ultimately decides who is doing the right thing, and to what extent?
|
Good points. But wouldn't you want to make a living being a super hero? Get a good paycheck for doing something you love to do? I can see the flaws with Pro Reg, easily. But the general idea of it, to me, would be a good thing.

I voted anti reg because I played MUA2 on both sides and Luke Cage, Iron Fist and Capt rock.
Tony stark sucks. |
I loved that game...then the nanites crap happened...

Firstly, a bunch of the anti-reg people had public identies already so it was kinda stupid for them to be upset about anything- Cap, Cloak and Dagger, Falcon, Hercules, Sue Storm....why should they give a rats ass?
Secondly, even more of those anti-eg forces had idenities known to SHIELD, so the government already had their number- Shroud, Prodigy, Coldblood, Patriot, etc. so there goes the "government cant be trusted keep their ID secret" line of reasoning. Hell, NIck Fury had known about Thor and Spider Man for years and never let on- Tony would have done the same. Third, when shit got real and someone (Norman Osborn) did try to access the ID database illegally, Tony ahd the whole thing set to delete- and that's exactly what happened. SO- no reason to fight against it, after all, they clearly state that not only did the LAW pass with bipartisan support, but the people of the US were overwhelmingly for it. NO real threat of ID's getting out existed, thanks to Tony's planning ahead. MOST of the anti-reg forces were already in government databases anyway. My major gripe with the story was how it depicted Captain America as both willing to defy US laws and the will of, you know, democracy, so he and his pals could break every goddamn law and hide behind a mask. And then there's Stamford- a ton of children killed because the New Warriors were duchebags- kicking in doors and fighting villians with no pan, no backup and no regard for civillians- all of which the initiave could have prevented- hell the only logical man to train heroes would have been Cap himself, but he ws on his high horse. Which is totally NOT what cap would have done, as anyone that read the prior twenty years of captain America could have told the writers. What's interesting is that originally Cap and tony's roles were to have been reversed- with Tony losing everything to lead the anti-reg forces, cap reluctantly leading pro-reg forces at the government's order and Osborn taking over Stark Industries at te government's behest to make weapons. Which would have been so much better, IMHO! |
Hey- who is that bozo in black and orange next to Falcon in the pic?
I dont think I've ever seen him before! |
First off I did not care for Civil War. It was pointless rubbish.
Though if to pick sides, I'll always be on Caps. |
Is there a list of who was pro and anti reg?
|
You can Wiki it, I'm sure.
The New Avengers were on Cap's side along with most of the "street" heroes while the classic Avengers mostly sided with Tony. |
Updated OP with link to roster.

alot of good points in here. kinda missed out on civil war but i got the jest of it. this is one time where i have to say tony was wrong. heroes do what they do because they feel they have to. they fuck up a major commuter train cause a super villain went crazy then they would be on the chopping block for reckless behavior. the same thing spidey goes thru with jj just on a grander scale
|
I dont agree, Legends how often has Spidey for example had to take on crazy odds andbeen hounded by police? As a SHIELD agent, he had access to all sorts of intel and backup- even the ability to evacuate an area before the fighting started.
And then there's the training of young supers- no sooner had Cap returned ad been made "top cop" than a group of young heroes (Young Allies) had a throwdown with a bunch of villians right at the Ground Zero site and one of the villians blew himself up with the force of a small nuke. Once again, civillians were nearly wiped out and there was massive property damage- and of course, the masked heroes just split. If you had a car or a store near that fight, you'd be screwed- there's on "act of superhero" insurance. And recently in the coordinated attacks on Washington and elsewhere (Fear Itself) there was no coordinated response from the superheroes, as only the Avengers were able to be contacted. Under the SHRA, all the powered people- even villians- could have been used to fight the Red Skull's forces. Instead, because of Cap's carppy planning and poor leadership, Washington DC was pretty much destroyed and a death toll "in the thousands" happened- which means that Steve Rogers was the man in charge for a terror attack worse than 9/11 due to piss poor planning. Way to go Marvel. Dorks. |

What a tool- and to think falcon called Tony a sellout!
Hell, Tony broke all sorts of laws to delay the SHRA from passing for almost a year- him and Reed only agreed to suppport it because they knew the Government would've sent Sentinels after the heroes if they put up a unified resistance. Which he tried to explain to Steve! One other good thing about CW, it showed that Tony had boned Emma Frost years before! |
CW is what made me like Tony Stark a lot more. Now, again, he is slowly going off the radar for me.
