New 52 Justice League Discussion

Spoilers

I like the series so far, of course it has Darkseid in it and he one of my two favorite villians (the other is Joker) and I like the use of him after the end in Final Crisis. They now have the team formed in four but Cyborg should not be there it should be my favorite Martian as part of the team. he was there in Brave and the Bold 28 and he was there for years. He was part of Aquaman's Detroit team and he served in the JLI years.

Sorry I digress. It is interesting in the way they are treating Batman as if he is useless and he is the most dangerous.

Does anyone like to the new parademons?

CLASSIFIED 01-02-2012 08:38 PM

I think it gets better every issue and offers insight into each character's motivations.

MrAmericanIdiot 01-02-2012 09:16 PM

The entire New 52 has blown me away. Justice league is awesome I love the writing and the art. I'm fine with cyborg, he adds a different spin and look to the BK.

LXL_Guy 01-03-2012 12:15 AM

It's okay so far. Don't care for the inclusion of Cyborg though. I think that's only due to the fact that I enjoyed him being on the Titans more.

Greenskar 01-04-2012 09:55 AM

Am I the only one who thinks they've over done it with how much of an arrogant douchebag Hal Jordan is being written as? I know he has always been pretty cocky but this is downright douchebaggery to me. All the shots he takes at Batman have so far been unprovoked and when he got upstaged by Aquaman (who is now a badass IMO) and I loved it, I knew the writing is definitely not favoring my fa rite Lantern

Also, I love the build up for what you know will have to be Batman doing something incredibly awesome or saving all the super powered heroes to finally earn their respect. So far the coolest thing Batman has done, which was a big deal to me, was when he managed to steal Hal's ring while Hal was busy trash talking.

I think they are trying to show us how the characters have become how we see them to day.

I like Jordan's portrayal and can see how his experience in the League will eventualy morph him into the character he will eventualy be.

Just as Batman needs to prove himself to these guys, so to does GL need to have his eyes opened.

I really liked the part where he had his hand on Wonder Woman's lasso.

I thought the lasso bit was pretty cool too. Makes he want to watch when he is trying to cop a feel.

I realize this, I just felt it was too excessive for my taste considering I'm so used to the green lantern reborn thru brightest day Hal Jordan. So the adjustment with that aspect of this story has been difficult on me.

I also liked the hand on the lasso. "Are you laughing Batman? At a time like this?" Lol

I don't like the new designs on the 4th World Characters, but am glad that they are back.

I'm also interested in seeing how 4th World tech is going to impact Cyborg.

Kaewin 01-09-2012 07:23 PM

I loved the part at the end where Darkseid appears. Gave me goose flesh.

DC New 52 Justice League Discussion

Wanted to start a thread for the books I've been reading. Justice is one of them.

What do you guys think so far?

Personally - I like this more than any of the other titles, Detective being a close second. The art is perfect for my tastes. All the characters are presented well. First arc really kicked things into high gear, and all characters are being represented well. Also Like how they made Superman kind of a dick. Cyborg re-intro was well done too.

Overall just feels more like a proper super-hero story to me. Then again, I haven't read non-Transformers comics in over 20 years.

Shin Densetsu 02-28-2012 07:51 AM

I haven't collected single issues for the past few years so I'm waiting for the trades. It is one of the series I want to read though and I dig the new costumes. About time we got Bats and Supes without underwear over their pants!

I'm glad a lot of the recent continuity prior to it was kept too. Would've been pissed if Morrison's Batman stuff was retconned out.

Tony_Bacala 02-28-2012 08:02 AM

I am one of those folks that "Jumped On" at this reboot. So I am unfamiliar with any stories happening in any of these books pre-1989. :). They all feel like what they should overall, with minor story tweaks, and I'm used to that by now as every property has rebooted in some form over last 10 years, especially Transformers.

I am also one of those folks that only did it because of same-day-digital. All read on my Phone or Nook Color via Comixology.

I'm sure the purists would like to kill me right now :).

Whoa what? Dude any Batman from Grant Morrison 2006-present; requird reading! If you dig New 52 you'll probably love those.

New 52 is a good jumping point, and admittedly when I was reading single issues, I was mainly reading Batman and Green Lantern for DC, didn't pick much JLA up. So I'm loking forward to the trade version of this.

Greenskar 02-28-2012 10:02 AM

Yeah Tony, check page 2 and merge these with the already existing threads. Glad you're reading these, man. I know quite a few people are waiting for the trades.

Tony_Bacala 02-28-2012 10:10 AM

Got it, merged! Sorry, I'm lazy :).

^ completely me...well except I did read Tower of Babel per my friends insistence, glad I did though.

I'm looking forward to issue #7 to see what Batman has up his sleeve on Apokalips. I will say that I thought what Bruce did to earn green lanterns trust was forced and very rushed this early into the series at only issue #6. The magnitude of his revelation won't be felt as hard for new readers as I think it was in the former continuity. Just my thoughts. What did you think, or oops have you got that far?

Tony_Bacala 02-28-2012 10:41 AM

Yeah I read it. Forgot about it already tho lol. But yeah, I was like WTF. I don't like how in most Super Hero Movies, and various other media of late, there is always a reveal of the identity to someone else. Or every other episode of Smallville, etc. It's like a given build up point that's going to happen. This was still a bit early though even considering all that, being an actual comic.

Kaewin 02-28-2012 11:10 AM

I thought the reveal was totally out of character. He would have done that pre-crisis but after that he was tight on who did or did not know. I can't be sure as I have not been reading a lot of DC comics for the last half decade but I don't think his paranoia would go away. I didn't see the Morrison run but then I haven't like him since he made J'onn J'onnz weak to fire and then killed him off a couple of years ago.

Greenskar 02-28-2012 11:48 AM

The worst part was that GL didn't even seem to care. He had more of a, "Who the fuck are you and is that supposed to mean something to me?" Type of reaction until he joined back up with the other heroes. Again, seemed like a very rushed decision to accelerate story plot or something. Oh well, hopefully Batman will do something really cool in issue #7

Kaewin 02-28-2012 11:54 AM

That would be good, GL has this attitude that they need to prove to him why he should be there. When I run a a game and a player does that he just sits on the sid euntil he figures out why he wants to play or just goes home. Its a real dick attitude to have and can ruin anyone's fun.

Tony_Bacala 03-01-2012 08:42 AM

Just read issue 6. Pretty damn good again. A tad rushed to wrap up such an epic battle, but that's just nitpicky.

Again, love the art, the flow of the characters here. Looks like we are gonna get some (earthly) villians next round too.

Greenskar 03-01-2012 09:01 AM

Couldn't agree more Tony. Jim Lee's art was definitely the gem of this series. All in all not bad overall.

Tony_Bacala 03-01-2012 09:11 AM

I think the coloring too. It's got that bright digital feel to it which I dig. Everything doesn't have to be like that, but when it's done right, it's good.

Kaewin 03-03-2012 09:26 PM

I enjoyed the final battle, I just wish it went on longer.
